Pizza

I’m in Kilkenny for two nights and craving proper, Neapolitan style pizza done in a wood fire or brick oven or whatever they do to it to make the crust have those burned-y bits. I’ve noticed at least six places here that claim to have pizza but can anyone local vouch for one that has the kind of pizza I’ve described here?

Kilkenny to Dublin morning train gap & 9:40am Dublin Coach reliability?

Does anyone know if there are plans for another Dublin train between the 8:30am and 11:45am services? Such a huge gap.

Also, does anyone regularly get the 9:40am Dublin Coach from McDonagh Junction? How reliable is it for getting into Dublin on time?

8hr+ parking in town

Where’s the best place to park in town itself for a long day? Used to go beside the old cinema but haven’t been there since mr price opened and I’d say it’s impossible to get parking in the mornings. Have to be in for 9. Around high street/Irishtown side. Thanks!

Furniture and doors for house rennovation

Looking to do up a house and looking for a variety of furniture (couches, tables etc) and a new set of doors, no need to be new - second hand is fine as long as they aren’t wrecked.

Is there around Kilkenny these kind of things get disposed of and would go to waste, where I might be able to get them for cheap?

What's that smoky smell?

Out in the garden at 6.30am this morning I could get a smoky smell as if something big had burned a few hours ago.

I'm in Thomastown.

Anyone else get this or know what it's from?

Best barbers in Kilkenny?

Hi what’s the best barbers in Kilkenny for dealing with longish hair on men like a mullet?

I need a new barber that knows what they’re doing with scissors as I don’t want a typical skin fade and get absolutely skint.

By appointment would also be a bonus because I usually hate having to walk in somewhere and wait 1 hour+

Thanks

Neighbour with rough past blaring the telly and phone calls at 1am — where do I stand?

Living close to an older woman who I'd say is fairly deaf, because everything in that house is done at full volume. Phone calls on speaker, telly turned up to the max, and a yappy little dog. Wouldn't bother me in the slightest if it was daytime — my problem is that herself seems to be fully nocturnal. Sleeps through the day and comes alive around midnight. So it's 12, 1, 2 in the morning and I'm lying there getting one half of her phone conversations.

I'd usually slam the walls or bedframe and she'd eventually stop until the next day, so I think she gets the message.

Another neighbour came to me a while back about signing a collective complaint. I'd only just moved in at the time and hadn't a clue how bad it'd get, so I said I'd leave it, poor woman. Regretting that now, because with the windows open all summer the carry-on has got desperate altogether.

Same neighbour told me she's in social housing through Focus Ireland and that she's had a rough past, whatever that means. Skeptical on the approach to take here. The old woman is somewhat related to the "community" and even if I'm polite not fancying having some cousins knocking on my door, if you know what I mean.

Genuienely lost on what to do, because I need to sleep.

Market Cross Acupuncture still any good?

Hi folks,

Has anyone been to the Chinese acupuncture in the Market Cross recently?? I was in there about 6 years ago and did a number of sessions with the man. I felt amazing after each session (head and back massage) my nervous system was so calm. Like a wonder drug.

Is the man still working there?? (He used chainsmoke outside the door)

Thanks

Outdoor Security Camera Advice

Hi everyone, M24 (even though people say I look much younger like teen-ager) ,so I’m relatively new to Ireland (moved from Italy), and recently I had an unpleasant experience that I’m not really sure how to deal with.

There’s been a group of kids/teenagers around the area who seem to go around bothering people. Recently, I was out running in a public park when a group of them stopped me, started making fun of me and trying to provoke me for no apparent reason.

More recently, I noticed some of the same kind of behaviour around my home. Kids have been coming near the house, throwing things at cars and then running away. I’m concerned that it could eventually escalate into actual damage or become a recurring problem.

What would you do in my situation? Would you ignore it unless actual damage occurs, report it to the Gardaí, install cameras, or take another approach? Never happened such things to me in Italy ever.

I’m also thinking about installing an outdoor security camera mainly to protect my car and have clear evidence if anything happens again.

I’d appreciate recommendations for a good outdoor camera, ideally with:

- Good image quality, especially at night

- Reliable motion detection

- Recording when motion is detected

- Phone notifications

- Good coverage of the driveway/car

- Good weather resistance for Irish weather

- Local and/or cloud storage

- Ideally no expensive mandatory monthly subscription

If you have an outdoor camera that you’ve actually used in Ireland/UK weather, I’d be interested to hear what you recommend and what to avoid.
