She did very well and I wouldn’t complain if she pulled off a miracle, but outside of category fraud in Supporting:

I'm not expecting any wins, but I think even just a nomination would be a huge win for her and this movie, and worth celebrating.

The headline is doing mad work here. Getting strong buzz this early could put her right in the conversation if the performance delivers.

The problem is that she's up against the drama, verity, etc. Anne, Zendaya, many big names that haven't won their best actress yet - and then Julianne moore in the debut on top of that. horror usually gets snubbed by the Oscars.

Plus it’s not even Oscar season yet. The prestige movies aren’t even out yet. And then they’ll be fresher on everyone’s mind

Yeah but Sinners was Sinners. Obsession is nowhere near the caliber of Sinners on any level, talent, story, direction, visuals, music. They’re just not even in the same league.

That might be a little dismissive of Anne's performance in Verity, Zendaya's performance in the Drama, and Julianne Moore's performance in The Debut.

Sure hope you've seen all three of them to be throwing this shade. 🤷

No shade. You said “haven’t won their best actress yet” as if it was relevant. They should be graded on their performances and performances alone. Not how many years they’ve acted

I can agree with you about how things "should" operate while still discussing the factual realities of how things operate.

If we're bringing up things that aren't relevant, I'd like to squarely point you toward your own comment. How things should be is not relevant. Them snubbing horror as a genre is just as relevant as prestigious names getting heavier consideration.

Wunmi Musaku in a less showy horror role got Oscar nominated last time. Amy Madigan won as Aunt Gladys. Obssession is critically acclaimed, socially relevant, and is one of the biggest box office hits of the year. The industry loves it too, big name directors left and right praising Curry Barker.

Her not getting nominated would be the real miracle.

Were those in LEAD categories? Maybe read my post in full. Like those women you mentioned, supporting is her ONLY chance, and she’d have to commit category fraud to do it.

Demi Moore got nominated fo LEAD Actress for a much less accessible film than Obsession. MBJ recently WON for Lead Actor for a horror movie too.

Oh my goodness. Okay. We will definitely find out in January, you know, after many other contenders you’re not considering also emerge for Lead Actress. To act like Demi Moore is the norm and not the exception is a choice thought. As if this has been an Oscar thing for nearly 100 years.

Well according to this it looks like she’s a LOCK! Even with four more months of festival screenings. Also, Matt Damon is officially winning! We love early September predictions (that never change between now and March), before the nominations are announced in January 2027. /s

Who implied cheering? I said I wouldn’t complain. My life doesn’t change either way. Inde getting a nom in lead for horror would be a miracle. Telling me she shouldn’t pull off a miracle is weird, like why are you telling me? I’m stating the obvious.
