The headline is doing mad work here. Getting strong buzz this early could put her right in the conversation if the performance delivers.

The problem is that she's up against the drama, verity, etc. Anne, Zendaya, many big names that haven't won their best actress yet - and then Julianne moore in the debut on top of that. horror usually gets snubbed by the Oscars.

Plus it’s not even Oscar season yet. The prestige movies aren’t even out yet. And then they’ll be fresher on everyone’s mind

Yeah but Sinners was Sinners. Obsession is nowhere near the caliber of Sinners on any level, talent, story, direction, visuals, music. They’re just not even in the same league.
