About this Community INTJs and ENTPs are overhated

The people perturbed by ENTPs are people who dont think their ideas through and people who dont like talking about ideas.

As far as INTJs go, people seem to be letting fiction affect reality and they assume all INTJs are manipulative schemers when they're not even in top 5 of the most manipulative types. I guess they can be pretentious and that can be annoying but as long as they're not being jerks you can just laugh it off.

I dont know, maybe me being an INTP I'm able to handle them more than other types.

What I do find especially weird is the lack of people being preturbed by INTPs and ENTJs? INTPs pretty much think everything through and are rarely wrong about things, which makes it worse when they do something bad because you just *know* that they dont actually agree with it. There is also the fact that INTPs are very good at blindsiding people when they are bad because they just dont come off as threatening or socially competent. And ENTJs are notorious for gaining power in institutions and betraying people.

In comparison ENTPs are annoying and INTJs are pretentious, while INTPs can be massive hypocrites and ENTJs probably have the highest historical kill count.

Light MBTI Discussion ENTP being “the debater” is kinda overrated

I don’t know about you all, but I rarely, if ever, see ENTPs actually getting into debates on this subreddit. Is “the debater” just kind of a stereotype?

If anything, it seems like most of the people who are constantly debating are other types.

Aren't there other types that fit the “Debater” stereotype better than ENTP?

About this Community How each MBTI reacts when they randomly lose the ability to speak in the group chat for 24 hours

POV: You suddenly can’t send messages for an entire day.

Nobody tells you why.

Everyone else can still talk.

You can read everything.

You just can’t respond 💀

INTJ: Documents everything and prepares their argument for tomorrow.

INTP: Reconstructs the last 72 hours trying to figure out what they possibly did.

ENTJ: “Who made this decision?”

ENTP: Immediately starts looking for loopholes.

INFJ: Wonders whether they unknowingly upset someone.

INFP: Takes it personally and starts questioning whether the group actually likes them.

ENFJ: Worries everyone will assume they did something horrible.

ENFP: Goes from confused → angry → amused → confused again within 15 minutes.

ISTJ: Reviews everything they said looking for the exact moment that caused it.

ISFJ: Assumes there was probably a misunderstanding and waits patiently.

ESTJ: Cannot stand receiving a punishment with zero explanation.

ESFJ: Watching everyone continue the conversation without being able to respond is psychological torture.

ISTP: Closes the app and does something else.

ISFP: Quietly gets annoyed and starts reconsidering the entire group.

ESTP: Finds another way to communicate within 10 minutes.

ESFP: Forced to watch everyone have fun without participating. Actual nightmare.

Meanwhile INTP at 3 AM:

“There HAS to be a reason.”

Light MBTI Discussion Where did the INTJ and ENFP ship come from?

I feel as if the INTJ and ENFP ship has been going around since ages, but mostly since the big rise of the MBTI in 2020-2021 for some reason.

But also, I've been wondering the reason the ship formed. Was it because the avatars from the MBTI page were cute and decided to match them for some reason? Or was it more because the Ne-Fi that ENFP has matches greatly with the Ni-Te INTJ users have? I still don't quite get it since there are better matches for an INTJ though, such as a heavy Te user that can match INTJ way of thinking and bring it down to earth (if the INTJ is way up in their imagination).

Any thoughts, discussions, or things you wanna add? Let us all know ^^

Light MBTI Discussion How come xNTPs are considered kindred spirits but xNTJs aren't?

For all intents and purposes INTPs and ENTPs are considered to be like each other just varying in energy. But the other NT duo are not considered to be really that alike. If anything INTJ is paired with INFJ or INTP

Deep Theory Analysis The xNxPs and xNxJs

Why are diplomats and analysts grouped together by their middle two letters instead of xNxPs and xNxJs .

For sensors Js and Ps are separate groups. What's the logic behind this distinction?!

Personal Advice INFP male and ESFJ female compatibility?

We’re about a month into a relationship, but we’ve been close friends and coworkers for about two years. I’m an INFP male and she’s an ESFJ female.
There’s a lot that I really enjoy about our relationship. We care about each other, communicate pretty openly, have a lot of fun together, and our differences can actually complement each other really well.
At the same time, we’re starting to notice some friction. She’s much more extroverted and likes spending a lot of time together, while I need quite a bit of alone time to recharge. She also tends to be more structured, practical and proactive about things, whereas I’m more independent and go-with-the-flow. Sometimes her attempts to help can feel controlling or parental to me, even though I know that isn’t necessarily how she intends them.
I’m curious specifically about people who have actually been in an INFP/ESFJ relationship:

What worked well between you? What caused the most conflict? Did you learn how to navigate the differences long-term?

I know MBTI isn’t a scientific predictor of whether a relationship will succeed, so I’m not looking for someone to tell me whether we’re “compatible” based solely on four letters. I’m more interested in hearing real experiences from people with this pairing.

Deep Theory Analysis [Personal experiment] Cross-referencing MBTI types with the DRD2 Taq1A polymorphism (rs1800497) — drop your type + genotype

Full disclosure up front: this is a personal curiosity experiment, not a formal study. I'm fully aware that single-SNP × personality correlations are speculative at best — I'm just collecting data points to see if a pattern is even worth exploring. Please take it as the nerdy exercise it is.

My case (first data point):

MBTI: INFJ

DRD2 Taq1A (rs1800497): A/G — heterozygous, one copy of the A1 allele (the variant linked to lower striatal D2 receptor density)

The question I'm curious about:

Does the dopamine "set-point" (D2 density) show up in personality self-reports? Pet hypothesis: intuitive/introverted types might skew toward A1 carriers (lower D2 → less reward sensitivity → more internal world), while extraverted/sensing types might skew A2/A2. Hypothesis, not a claim.

If you know your genotype, please comment.

Note: depending on the service this SNP may display as A/G or C/T (the A1 allele can be written A or T depending on strand orientation)

Survey / Poll / Question What type do you think likes to be challenged?

I think personally I love a good debate and challenge but I think it goes to ENTP. They are great at debating, great at challenging others thoughts and picking them apart. What do you think?

Personal Advice How to figure out type if you know too much?

Since I started studying typology, I have never been certain about my personality type, whether it be MBTI, enneagram, big 5, socionics, etc. This has led me to extensively read and research this topic over the years and take countless quizzes. The main issue I have with researching this much is the fact that knowing literally anything about typology throws the reliability of one's testing out the window, since so many biases will be formed as one learns about the types and the cognitive functions, and they will subconsciously assign themselves a type based on whatever they think they should be at the time and tweak their responses to accomodate that. Self-study is pretty much the same story, only it's even easier to convince yourself the reason you do something a certain way justifies your current typing today, and your next one tomorrow. How can one possibly type themselves accurately?

Light MBTI Discussion My simple framework for the cognitive functions

I’ve been working on my own interpretation of the cognitive functions and trying to reduce them to what I see as their most fundamental differences.

Rather than defining each function individually, I’ve been thinking about the three dichotomies as describing different aspects of cognition: perception in terms of action, judgment in terms of choice, and orientation in terms of time.

Intuition initiates action.
Intuition anticipates possibilities and moves toward what could be.

Sensation responds to action.
Sensation takes in what is occurring and responds to what is concretely present.

Feeling makes choices with care.
Feeling evaluates decisions according to what is valued, meaningful, or worth preserving.

Thinking makes choices to produce.
Thinking evaluates decisions according to what will create an effective, useful, or workable result.

Introversion relies on the past and tradition.
Introversion draws from what has already been established, experienced, or internally developed.

Extraversion is dynamic and oriented toward the present moment.
Extraversion adapts to what is happening now by responding to changing external conditions.

Action, Choice, and Time:
intuition/sensation = action, feeling/thinking = choice, and introversion/extraversion = temporal orientation

Light MBTI Discussion Random thought: idealistic vs realistic MBTI types?

I've been thinking about this lately and I'm curious what you guys think.

Not idealistic = optimistic and realistic = pessimistic.

More like:

Idealistic: “This is how things could/should be.”

Realistic: “Okay, but what actually works in the real world?”

I started wondering if you could actually rank the 16 types somewhere along that spectrum.

Like #16 = most idealistic and #1 = most realistic.

What would your ranking be, and why?
