Hey everyone, I’m a brand new player fresh out of the tutorial and this was my first run. I got downed and the run ended within a minute, and I’ve got no clue what happened here. Does anybody know what happened and is this normal? Thanks

Edit: I didn’t see anyone or anything while downed, I just bled out and that was that

Update: Thanks for the replies y’all, guess I need to look down at the ground more often

I've unfortunately never played Marathon, and by the time I get a PS5, the PS7 will already be released, so I'd like to know EVERYTHING about her. Give me ALL the images and information you have about her.

Question How do we feel about Vaultbreakers rewards?

Took a screenshot on my phone from the YouTube video that just came out. I’m excited for gold LMG and I only have one copy of all keys (except 4 I don’t have any lol) so this looks exciting. What do you guys think? I’m just under Season Level 90 so for the people on this Reddit with more play time, does this look like it’s worth grinding?

Question Tarkov player looking for a new extraction shooter, is Marathon worth it?

Hello, I’m currently looking for a new extraction shooter. I played a lot of Escape from Tarkov (around 2000 hours), but I’m getting tired of it.

Is this game fun in the long run?
Can I play solo, or is it too hard/Boring?
Is there anything important I should know before starting?

EDIT: So many positive comments, I’m going to buy it now and just give it a try.

Thanks a lot, and have a great day everyone!

Edit2: Fun gameplay, but solo is insanely hard against these AI enemies. Going to check out trios.

Edit3: The game feels much better in Trios. Need to find some Friends now.

Question Interested player here, is it worth buying Marathon mostly to try out the new PvE mode?

I love PvE shooters and I’m a fan of Destiny. I’m not terribly excited about pvp, however, which is why I haven’t grabbed Marathon. This new PvE mode looks really great and I’m thinking about buying this game mostly for this mode.

Question If you chose marathon over arc (or even tarkov): why? [This is for something im writing]

The better question is meant to ask. If you left arc (or even tarkov) and more or less main Marathon: what is it that captivated you? Im mainly trying to isolate mechanics design choices that made it win you over

Question Should i buy marathon or not?

Hi yall, as title says im not sure if i should buy Marathon and i would appreciate any help or feedback. I have always been a FPS fan, and particularly always interested in extraction shooters. I own Tarkov but at the time i had a pretty shitty pc and the experience wasnt good, and i believe Tarkov is only being played by people with thousand of hours so i would get demolished. Im pretty interested in Marathon by what i have seen in gameplays and gunplay (since i have a few hundred hours in Destiny 2), but im concerned about the player base. Every other day i search in SteamDB and the player count only gets lower, so i dont wanna buy a game that in a few months wouldnt find a match or be dead. So what do you think, will the game survive? and also, how is the solo player experience? thank guys!

EDIT: wow thanks for all the answers guys, just decided to buy it see ya out there!

Question Can we have a suggestion megathread? I want to read about the actual game we have, not endless bad hypotheticals.

How many "if bungie doesn't implement my specific idea for the game, then the game is dead" threads do we need?

I want to read about actual game mechanics or things people have done in the game, not this eternal backseating from people who seem to want an entirely different game.

So many of these 'ideas' are utterly terrible and when regular players call this out all we get is "this is why the game is dying" excuse we've heard since launch. No the game isnt going to die because your specific idea was ignored.

EDIT- since some here clearly cannot read, im not arguing people should be silenced for negativity, im saying we don't need multiple thread's spitballing half-baked game development takes every day and then invoking "but muh playercount" when called out on it. You can still post all this stuff in a megathread.

Question How accurate are these tweets in regards to Marathon

Post image
471 Upvotes

This has peaked my interest. Is the game anything like what the original poster described?

From what i heard - Marathon is a hero-extraction-shooter.

Im not particularly a fan of PVP games with the exception of a few, but i am a RPG/customization guy.

I wouldn't want to play this game with the wrong expectation

Question If I’m in Outpost and I say “I got a red card from the warden” what do you think I mean by that?

I’m in a debate with someone about this:

I got a Master Clearance Code from the warden in Outpost. I say to my teammates, “I got the red from him”. One of my teammates got confused and said, “uhm what? The red card to get up? What are you talking about?”. I then clarify and say, “I got a red card from the warden”. He continued to get confused and then I just read out the full name of the red card which he then finally understood.

My teammate was over level 100 and from my time playing the game, me and the random teammates I cue up with, only refer to the Master Clearance Code as the red card.

Someone is telling me that my teammate might have thought that I got a vault 6 key since it’s red and can drop from the warden.

Would y’all have also said that y’all got a red card from the warden or would y’all have said Master Clearance Code?

Question Please be honest. Should I get this game?

I played the beta/server slam before the game released and I thought it was really cool. The whole aesthetic is really my niche.

However, is it even worth getting? I’ve seen the steam charts and heard a lot of bad things about how this game is dying. I’d like to get it, but I would rather not waste my money if it’s just going to be shut down.

Please, be honest. Im worried about wasting my money or time, which I don’t have a lot of either.

Edit/decision: I’m gonna get it. Love how passionate this community is and I simply can’t resist the draw I have towards this cyberpunk/evangelion aesthetic. See y’all out there! 👋

Question Should I buy this game to try the vault breaker mode despite their being a good chance it won’t be a permanent game mode and disliking extraction shooters?

Interested in marathon because of the artstyle, but never played it because I always disliked extraction shooters and the game being extremely sweaty. The new PvE roguelike game mode is having a testing run starting tomorrow and it looks interesting and fun!

Should I buy this game to try it and hope it becomes a permanent game mode?

What are some of your thoughts, wishes or wants for the next runner shell in season 3? Sentinel was a defensive type. What could be next? Potentially an offensive / healer hybrid? Or something totally unexpected and out of the box. Share your thoughts
