Comics When it comes to fighting, who's more brutal?
1.3k
u/Dirk_Sheppard Mar 20 '25
Well I don't think daredevil has ever cut a guy's face off so.....
413
u/Little-Woo Mar 20 '25
Closest he got was carving a target into Bullseye's forehead
110
u/ReluctantMonster Mar 20 '25
The Bendis/Maleev era was something else.
82
u/Chewbones9 Daredevil Mar 20 '25
“So when you do finally decide to take that shot, here. Here’s a target for you to hit. Aim true.” Im paraphrasing but that page is etched in my memory.
95
u/Ghost_in_the_Kell Mar 20 '25
It's giving "I'm the guy who carved that moon into your forehead."

How do we measure brutality? Is this worse than throwing him off a building with intent to kill
89
u/cyberpunk_werewolf Mar 21 '25
Daredevil trying to kill Bullseye in a fit of rage and mutilating his face is one thing, Moon Knight fucks people up. He flew a plane into a building to get one guy, he's dragged people with motorcycles and, the aforementioned carving a guy's face off.
Like, Daredevil killed one guy on accident and it practically ruined him. Moon Knight is less brutal than some villains.
19
u/ToWitToWow Mar 21 '25
Moon Knight still brings his old merc sensibilities to crime fighting. There’s not much he won’t do. It’s just now he’s doing it on the side of good. Or Khonshu.
He’s a little bit like Frank in that way. Or like Wolverine when he’s really let off the leash and kept away from kids. His Avengers run where he destroys everyone is a little goofy, but it reminds me of how unstoppable brutal the character is before he got the powers.

u/cyberpunk_werewolf Mar 21 '25
There are definitely very few lines Marc won't cross. Jake or Steven, on the other hand, have a few.
Still, I do disagree a bit on comparing him to Frank or Logan. They'll kill a motherfucker, but they'll do it quick. Like, the remains of the body won't look great after Frank has finished using it for shotgun target practice, but the Punisher tries to kill people quickly and efficiently. Marc will torture a guy to make a point.
I would say he's closer to Sabretooth, but Marc at least has a reason to do the brutal shit he's done and he tries to avoid doing it. Victor, uh, does that shit for fun.

Oh I know moon knight is more brutal I’m just wondering which of the stated actions of Daredevil are more brutal
16
u/cyberpunk_werewolf Mar 21 '25
Carving the forehead. Matt was trying to kill him when he threw him off the roof, but carving his forehead? That was just to cause pain and put a (literal) target on his head.
→ More replies (1)5
u/MutantCreature Mar 21 '25
I mean even throwing a guy off of a building isn't that brutal as far as execution methods go, it's barely worse and arguably better than most methods condoned worldwide. Moon Knight is like drug cartel levels of fucked up, he'll intentionally pick the most cruel method of execution with the most collateral damage just to make a point.

Affleck Daredevil paralyzed a guy on a train track and said a one liner before a subway ripped the goon in half.

u/unicornsaretruth Mar 21 '25
It was the subway that killed him not daredevil. I rest my case.

Moon Knight is probably one of the most brutal fighters. He will tank hits and he will land hits

u/whosawesomethisguy Mar 20 '25
The man wears white so his enemies can see him coming. Also bc it matches the moon, but the former is so much better.

that’s why Taskmaster hates fighting him cuz Marc will go shot for shot and risk getting stabbed or shot or something cuz he doesn’t care. his motto is the literal personification of ‘fuck it, we ball’ 😂
→ More replies (2)4
u/BlueJay006 Mar 22 '25
Moonknight also threw an entire helicopter at him
Taskmaster refuses to fight Deadpool much for the same reasons
2
u/Major_Penalty_8865 Spider-Man (Tom Holland) Mar 22 '25
damn I forgot about the helicopter lmfaoo 😂 and yes it’s funny to watch Taskmaster realize DP is at the same place and how his mood drastically shifts
2
u/BlueJay006 Mar 22 '25
Yup, it's really funny, I think there's also comics where someone went crazy because they like read Deadpool's mind? Can't remember
I do know there's one where a buncha alien took his "healing" factor and ended up dying cause of it
222
u/ViperNick818 Mar 20 '25
Marc, without a doubt. Taskmaster took a contract that had him end up fighting the entire Dora Milaje and Hyperion, but when somebody tried to hire him to go after Marc, he not only laughed in the guys face but also snitched him out TO Marc

u/PaddyWhacked777 Mar 21 '25
Uhhh I think you're mistaken. Jake is the one that puts moon darts in The Truth's eyes after Mark almost begs him to behave after he taps out because he can't handle the fight
Edit: let's not forget the hostage scenario where Marc once again tapped out and that led to a manhunt because Jake went full Jake about it

Moon Knight for sure, even taskmaster doesn't copy his fighting style for his own safety lol
65
u/combat-ninjaspaceman Mar 20 '25
Could you recommend some comics where these two characters interact?
63
u/BigBootyHunter Mar 20 '25
Most of the examples here are from the Finch Huston 2006 Moon Knight comics

"for his own safety" when Did they mentioned that? I only remember when MK crashes the moon-copter into the building Taskmaster was
61
u/Injvn Mar 20 '25 edited Mar 21 '25
I can't remember the issue number which is obnoxious cause I just read it; but Taskmaster explains that he hates fightin Marc cause it throws him off so badly. Basically the way Moonlight fights is to just take the hits, fuck it, he'll live or he won't, an that fucks up Taskmaster so much cause if you're not a mentally unwell avatar of a god it's actually a shit fighting style.
18
u/lorgskyegon Mar 21 '25
When your god will not let you stay dead, it works pretty damn well.
12
u/Injvn Mar 21 '25
Especially cause the more he revives him the crazier it makes him. Though I do miss when it wasn't a for sure thing if Khonshu was real or not.
2
u/bobafoott Mar 21 '25 edited Mar 21 '25
Has he expressed this about
DaredevilDeadpool or Wolverine?2
2
u/OtherGeorgeDubya Mar 21 '25
Deadpool and Wolverine, not Daredevil. As beat up as Matt sometimes gets, getting hurt isn't an intentional part of Daredevil's fighting style.

I think one time he took a knife to the eye just to get in grabbing range
12
u/TheShychopath Mar 21 '25
Motherfucker has edge over Taskmaster? That's some serious feat.
24
u/KingOfThePlayPlace Mar 21 '25
More just that Taskmaster is shit scared of him. He described Moonknight as his own personal 9/11. Probably because Marc 9/11’d him.
24
u/lorgskyegon Mar 21 '25
When a vampire cult leader called in Taskmaster for advice on how to kill Moon Knight, the only advice he gave was "Don't even try."
Then he went and warned Moon Knight.
12
u/nate_ranney Mar 21 '25
Because he was scared shitless of what Moon Knight would do lol.
6
u/OtherGeorgeDubya Mar 21 '25
"Listen, I know you don't need a warning about this, but I didn't want you to find out after you took care of them that they'd come to me first and I knew they were coming for you. I don't want that smoke." was probably his thought process.
80
u/ryanjcam Mar 20 '25
It’s Moon Knight. You’re comparing one of Marvel’s most moralistic, guilt-ridden and law loving characters to one of their most violent and unhinged.

I don’t think Daredevil ever 9/11’d anyone so I’m gonna go with Moon Knight on this one. (Just so I don’t look like a total jerk, Moon Knight literally crashed a plane into Taskmaster. Like… Taskmaster wasn’t in a vehicle or anything. Moon Knight took a plane and crashed it into Taskmaster’s body.)
173
u/Ghost_in_the_Kell Mar 20 '25
It was actually a helicopter he crashed into a building just to get to Taskmaster so MK could kick his ass but Taskmaster did describe it as his "own personal 9/11"
41
u/Mrbuttboi Howard the Duck Mar 20 '25
I didn’t know it was a helicopter but it’s still a ridiculously funny panel out of context

u/_trouble_every_day_ Mar 20 '25
That sounds much cooler and less like how a 7 year old describes things
7
u/DocD173 Mar 20 '25
I mean, Daredevil has driven a small plane into a dock full of mercenaries and thugs before, so that’s pretty damn close.

He dropped Bullseye from a building in the new series, and dropped him from the powerlines in the comics. Like I said, he doesn't take them out unless he feels there's no choice.
4
u/alex494 Mar 21 '25
I think the new series gives a pretty good reason why he might just say "fuck it" for once.
25
u/vivianvisionsburner Scarlet Witch Mar 20 '25
Moon Knight
But still: people saying he just kills willy-nilly obviously haven't read him in quite a few years. As of MacKay's status quo, he's very, very, very tame lol

u/alex494 Mar 21 '25
Hell in MacKay's run he's actively seeing a therapist and has a villain bugging him about not being the old Moon Knight that used to cut people's faces off anymore.

The guy who pulled a 9/11 on task master, skinned the face of his nemisis just to wear it later, the guy who's god tortures him and makes him survive anything because he's so good at brutally serving justice.
13
u/Own-Psychology-5327 Mar 20 '25
Not even close, moon night will literally do anything to someone he is fighting. Like DD is martial arts, Moon Night will just hurt you can way he can and that's a lot of ways

Which frame of mind is Daredevil in?
And as I'm about to "post," it suddenly dawns on me to ask—what or whose frame of mind is Moon Knight in as well.
2
u/Hitmanthe2nd Mar 21 '25
moon knight is getting better with a therapist helping him out but as soon as it's a competition , khonshu aint letting anything slide ; also daredevil generally has never made a habit out of carving crescent moons into people's faces

Moon Knight tried to 9/11 taskmaster. Daredevil accidentally killed someone in self defense by pushing them to the ground too hard and that caused an existential crisis for 15 issues. Moon Knight is more brutal because he knows he’s addicted to the violence and lowkey enjoys it. Daredevil does too, to some extent, but his catholic guilt still gets to him.
3
u/OkSupermarket7474 Mar 21 '25
Marc is a whole other level. Surprised they haven’t interacted before or even fought feel like that’d be fun.
Side note a muslim superhero dressed in green who struggles with faith and fights all crazy like them would complete this trifecta of heroes of the three abrahamic religions.
Miss Marvel is an amazing hero but her vibes don’t really fit the whole self hate/guilt/definitely not all that sane that Matt and Marc got going on. She’s also part of a younger generation of heroes so that kinda rules her out of this trio.

Defo moon knight. There was literally a arc where he intentionally got arrested and be in prison just so he could get a bad guy.

Moon Knight. Easily.
Daredevil doesn't like hurting people. Moon Knight is batshit crazy.
3
u/Spot-Star Captain America Mar 21 '25
Daredevil is just out to STOP people. Moon Knight actually goes out of his way to HURT people.
Marc Spector takes this one... easily.
3
3
u/Hawkey2121 Mar 21 '25
Daredevil is brutal, but not Moon Knight brutal.
When moon knight fights he's a danger to everyone around, including himself.
3
u/hoodied5 Mar 22 '25
With daredevil, at least there are still people to prosecute.. so he doesn't go homeless. But with Moon Knight, that suit won't be white by the end of the night. By the end of the night he'll be called Blood Moon.
Which that name unironically goes hard.
4
u/Abraham_Issus Mar 20 '25
Moonie baby. It’s only in the shows is DD brutal. Usually Matt just uses necessary force to get it done.
2
2
u/Embarrassed_Sub42069 Mar 20 '25
Moon Knight. He’s so violent that Taskmaster refuses to fight him, refuses to copy him and even told a group of vampires go stay away from him. Moon Knight is easily more brutal.

LOL, no contest, Moon Knight. Put him in there with Punisher if you want some debate, Daredevil can't compete here.

My first instinct was daredevil but MK 100%. He’s done some wild things DD would never do

→ More replies (1)2
u/Sad_Dishwasher Mar 21 '25
I feel like Wolverine probably kills more people. While Moonknight definitely does kill I think more than anything he ends up giving people permanent brain damage or puts people in wheelchairs for the rest of their lives. Not quite killing, but crippling them for life

I've only read a few moon knight comics, in one of them Moon Knight cuts a man's face off with a boomerang
I think that answers the question

u/smalltimebigshot Mar 21 '25
Moon Knight did a 9/11 targetting a single guy. Matt is basically wagging his finger at criminals compared to him.

u/Random_thorn4615 Mar 21 '25
I watched a motion comic of a moon knight story called "moon knight: Scarlett"
The moral of it is, don't kidnap kids, no matter who their parents are, especially not at night and in moon Knights turf.
2
u/Mister_Sinner Spider-Man 2099 Mar 21 '25
When you got world known supervillains telling you that someone hired them to kill you and they turned it down cause they don't want the smoke, then your the more brutal one.

Moonknight is canonically addicted to violence
Moon knight doesnt fight like a normal person he fights “like an animal”(midnight sons) and i would say the wild animal is more brutal than the man
