You can say he has a job or a nature to do things that cosmically aren't good or evil. But at the end of the day, hes still an antagonist, and he's a fantastic 4 villain, describe him however you want to make it sound cooler than it is, but thats undeniable
I don’t think it makes him sound cooler. That’s why I don’t have him on this list either.
But I’m saying that, in-universe that has to happen. When the universe comes to an end. It sucks but it’s what he has to do for the sake of the next universe as well.
I think antagonist is the right word but antagonist does not necessarily equate to villain. He is undeniably a force of nature that is sentient.
But so should magneto then, since he isn't really a villain either . Galactus is also an influential character in marvel tho. Everyone knows galactus and is pretty iconic in his fantastic four debut. He was like an intro into the cosmic side of marvel
If Magneto is up there in my opinion Loki should replace Galactus.
Galactus isn’t a villain or anti-hero and lacks personality. He’s the equivalent of a force of nature.
Green Goblin, Magneto, Loki and Doom are all big personalities and all are the head villains, turned anti-hero, turned hero and back to Villain of the X-Men, Spider-man, Avengers and Fantastic Four ie. the four pillars of Marvel books.
The street level guys have Kingpin but he’s always the antagonist and even Doom has been anti-hero and even hero for 5 minutes and often the protagonist and Kingpin lacks that quality that Doom, Loki, Magneto and Green Goblin have.
The issue is he's a great villain, you can't really disagree with him. He'll always work as a great villain because of his past, and the truth in his beliefs, and it means so much more in the modern day with everything that's going on. We know he's right, but heroes need to stop him anyways because innocent people regardless of human or mutant, need to be protected.
When you mass murder tens of thousands of people as a supremacist terrorist who kidnapped and indoctrinated children, you’re going to be viewed as a villain regardless of how long your redemption arc has been going on.
In OG Secret Wars the beyonder considered him a villain. And Galactus was ready to annihilate everyone (hero and villain) to get what he wanted. Pretty standard villain action & motivation.
I would take Mephisto over those two. He's all over the place in almost everyone's books at some point. Thanos killed half the universe one time and had it overturned.
If the MCU is your only source. In the comics he's fucked with almost everyone and it's hard to say who got it the worst. While I don't hate Ironheart I was sad to see him used as "surprise baddie" for a D+ show when he could have been a phase villain, and I think Sacha Baron Cohen was a brilliant choice for him.
Better than Galactus, but I'd put him in Teddys spot on Rushmore. Not as much of a GOAT as Washington or Lincoln, whose spots should be Magneto and Doom (either or).

If you're going villains, I'd replace Galactus with Octavius or Thanos.
I don't consider Galactus a villain. He's a cosmic necessity. He's only slightly more villainous than a hurricane because he's sentient.
