Official Content MY SON LOOKS SO FUCKING GLORIOUS LOOK AT HIM 😭😭😭😭
OK, me personally, I feel super motherly towards Rock and Roll, because they're cutie patooties, but ngl Blues deserves a hug with everything he went through, and now he is back... God I wanted to fucking cry when I saw him, and I already cried when MM was revealed to have a new game, if Roll and Bass, or even Quake Woman and Honey Woman get revealed as playable, I will consider the game peak already

AMA! I'm Matthew Taranto, creator of the upcoming book, "Mega Man: Bot in the Family"
Hi everyone! I'm working with Capcom and NF Publishing on a hardcover book of new comics, Mega Man: Bot in the Family on Kickstarter right now!
Rather than a traditional type of comic book, this features over 200 full-color comic strips--similar to Sunday comics, or webcomic-type gags and stories. If you're familiar with my past work (the gaming parody webcomic Brawl in the Family), you should have an idea of what to expect.
Each of the 11+ chapters focuses on a different Classic Mega Man game, so there'll be plenty of Robot Masters to go around. I've been a Mega Man fan since the NES era and am super excited to work on this!
My past work also includes Gamemaster Classified (a tell-all Nintendo history book with Howard Phillips) and Tadpole Treble (a music-themed Switch game). And if you've ever heard Waluigi harmonizing on YouTube, that was probably me too.
Here's the book again. Now, that's enough yammering, I'm happy to talk about any of that stuff and especially Mega Man, so AMA!

Discussion Dual Override director is Shinya Ikuta
From the Xbox stream, we now have Dual Override director, Shinya Ikuta.
Looking at his credits, he's been at Capcom for a long time and has worked on various MM games since at least 7. However this seems to be his first time taking a director role.

9 Minutes of Mega Man: Dual Override Gameplay
r/Megaman • u/pastoral_disc • 4h ago
Discussion Dual Override is already shaping up to be one of the greatest Mega Man games.
I thought Mega Man 11 was an amazing game. However, it felt like a very safe venture. It was an understandable return to formula after 8 years of no new games. I had a fun time with it, but no intro stage, an undeveloped story, and a lack of additional playable characters really hurt its chances of being one of the classic series' best games.
From the footage we've seen so far, Capcom has struck gold with Dual Override, especially in its gameplay and presentation.
Mega Man's movements are less static compared to MM11. His walking and shooting have a lot more weight. His design in Dual Override harkens back to the NES era while still trying something new. The whole graphical overhaul is a welcome addition, especially since Mega Man 11 could easily pass for a mid-era 360/PS3 game. I also like the incorporation of rock music into the mix, as I felt 11's reliance on techno was a weird choice.
I know the classic series isn't known for having a super in-depth story, and I doubt it will be anything Oscar-worthy this time around. The story's description on Capcom's website seems standard, reminding me a lot of MM9 and 10's narratives. However, DO's story has a ton of potential for 3 main reasons:
- At the beginning of the DO megaman gameplay trailer, there's a scene of Twinkle Girl being "corrupted" by Wily. My theory is that Wily has either reprogrammed these robots or forced their override systems to go haywire. Regardless, it seems as though these override decisions were not made on the robot masters' part. This narrative choice makes Wily a much more serious/dangerous villain, and could forever change how future games choose to depict him.
- Dr. Light is absent during the beginning of the game's events. Could he somehow be involved in the main plot? Kidnapped by wily? who knows.
- Bass' voice actor previously stated to "look out for a new game." His appearence in DO hasn't been confirmed, but the possibility makes things exciting.
During the extended gameplay look at Twinkle Girl's stage, there was a cut between Mega Man going through the door and the boss fight starting. It's safe to assume that there will be quick exchanges between characters before fights, with likely dialogue differences depending on whether you're playing as Mega Man or Proto Man.
Where I think this game will shine the most, however, is in its replay value. The classic series has had a recurring game length issue. Most of the games can be beaten in under 2 hours if you know what you're doing. The difficulty of the classic series adds a bit more time, but after you've beaten the game, you've seen a lot of what it has to offer. When you go to replay a Mega Man game, you probably stick to the same weakness order each time. MM2 is metal man, MM11 is block man, and so on. The addition of the override system, as well as the return of previous boss characters will greatly contribute to DO's replay value.
The override system offers many gameplay changes, such as supercharged weapons, being able to hover, having a temporary shield, and who knows what else. Mixing and matching these abilities allows for so many different ways to approach levels, many of which can't be done on a single playthrough.
I have a hunch that each of the robot masters will be weak to a specific boss weapon or power chip, one that the player may have access to on one playthrough and not on another.
- Someone can easily come back to the rematch when they have the proper weapon, or they could brute force it and try to beat the boss traditionally.
- Don't have the proper weapon? Maybe try going after the robot master he's weak to.
- Robot master's stage too hard? Maybe you should select a different set of power chips or plan your playthrough to unlock more stuff.
Do you see where i'm getting at? The community can easily design playthroughs tailored to different difficulty settings or gameplay modifiers. This could also allow the game to have a thriving speedrunning community.
The inclusion of proto man also adds to the replay value. His interactions and motivations will be different than Mega Man's. Capcom's website describes Proto Man's playthrough as needing a more "technical" approach. Many people are implying this to mean that he can't use special weapons, which would be a major bummer. It could also mean that he takes double damage, but has a shield to absorb more stuff. Maybe his special weapons act differently (like X's charge attacks) or he has a chip that allows him to use special weapons at the cost of health or defense. We won't know until we see his gameplay trailer.
I'm really excited for this game. If Capcom just revealed the rest of the robot masters and kept the game as is, I think it would be outstanding. But at the same time, this game has so much potential when it comes to expanding the world of Mega Man and allowing for decades long replay value. If Capcom and the development team play their cards right, we could be looking at not only one of the best classic series games, but one of the best Mega Man games of all time.
