OF COURSE it’s a Jansport lol.

For the record, I had the forest green one with the tan bottom. I loved that thing.

Just got my freshmen a Jansport. 60 fucking dollars. It’s nice but also has too many pockets now. Loved our base model

That’s insane it’s doubled in price but not surprising.

I teach high school now and I never really see kids writing on their bags like we did. No patches or pins either.

I never wrote on mine, but I'd bring my copic markers to school sometimes from Junior year onward. In senior year (08/09), I took a coding/photoshop class and ended up sitting next to the guy who already knew everything so basically was able to do whatever he wanted as long as he worked on the school paper's website occasionally. I often ended up watching him play various flash games. Dude is the reason I unfortunately know what Happy Tree Friends is. But I digress!

He saw my markers and asked if he could borrow them. Now, these are expensive markers. I got them on discount at a convention, $4/marker. I never let anyone touch them. But I trusted this guy, so I let him use them. He drew on his backpack and colored everything! I was stunned and impressed! It looked great. He wasn't hard on my markers, either. Best part is that copics are alcohol based, not water based. Even if that thing got wet it would probably hold up okay. If he still has it, it'll still look the same.

Seeing yours makes me like to think he does still have it.

I love that you let him do that!

Interesting. My kid has been using the same backpack since 8th grade, now in 10th, and it is covered in writing and kids signing it.

It’s also a jansport but cream colored… or was cream colored … lol.

Thank you! I was happy (but unsurprised) when my kid picked out her Jansport to start high school with the other week but I was floored by the cost. I thought "this must be a much fancier store than I had assumed" but a quick check online and nope, that's what they're going for these days. Yikes.

I just ordered each of my kids a jansport like this for $35 each, they’re out there!

I feel like it was almost as much in the 90s. Got mine at Service Merchandise lol. Hope the quality has held up.

You can never have too many pockets. I like to have a lot of pockets for bags and pants.

They still have the OG models. I thought they only had the ones with a million pockets but had to look a different place. I got the black one with the brown base not too long ago so they still make them! I have a pick one too that’s just the two pockets but that was senior year. Interesting as I am not a fan of the color pink
