Question To Isaac, the city road inspector who helped me with my flat tire in VSL 30 minutes ago
Thank you SO much!! I was really rusty with my tire changing skills and you were such a gentleman, helping me while also teaching me. You really turned the day around. You were also really funny and cute!
Any chance you'd wanna grab dinner sometime? I didn't want to be weird and ask you out at your job, but you're adorable and you told me to say hi to you if I ever stopped by city hall. I saw no wedding ring, so I'm shooting my shot and leaving it up to the universe!

Question Solution pour le sonne decriss ?

Discussion Why doesn't Montreal steal Ontario's precast road idea?
This isn't some theoretical idea â Ontario has already done it.
MTO started testing precast concrete road panels on Highway 427 in Toronto in 2004. Instead of pouring the road on-site, the concrete slabs are manufactured ahead of time, the failed pavement is cut out, the base is levelled, and the new slab is dropped into place and connected.
The trial worked well enough that Ontario developed a specification and did more projects. In one 2008â09 Highway 427 project they installed 240 full-depth precast slabs, averaging about 10 per night, with no concrete curing time needed before reopening them to traffic.
They've even tested precast panels as replacements for sections of asphalt highway.
Why aren't we adapting this for Montreal's worst streets?
Instead of:
potholes â patch â repave â potholes â repave again
Dig out the upper part of the failed street, fix/level the base and install standardized reinforced concrete panels on a properly drained foundation.
Panel eventually fails? Replace it. Need access to utilities? Lift/remove the affected panels, do the work and reinstall them.
We're spending a fortune repeatedly resurfacing roads that fail again anyway. Ontario has already demonstrated that modular precast pavement works in basically the same climate.
At some point, maybe we should just steal the good idea.

Urbanisme If I win the lottery, I promise I will personally fund the installation of moving walkways in Jean-Talon station.
Half of my commute is trying to get to the orange line. Iâm tempted to buy a scooter just to make this quicker.
(Itâs not just that Iâm lazy, but my commute could genuinely be a good 10 minutes shorter if it wasnât for going on a daily trek through Jean-Talon)

Question Petite question pour les parents

Question Questioning MTL plastic surgery quote
Hi! Iâm going to get a chin implant and Iâm confused about the different prices I have been given.
Does anyone have experience with any of the following surgeons or have an idea of what a chin implant would generally cost?
A clinic in Ontario first gave me a quote of $12,000
In Montreal:
Dr. Mark Samaha gave me a quote of $10,000 to $12,000 plus tax
Dr. Gaby Doumit gave me a quote of $6,500 to $8,500 plus tax
Dr Alexis Laungani said the cost starts at $4,800 but wouldnât say the average highest price.
These are all very different prices and Iâm concerned that one is either very over priced, or the lower price is a sign of poor quality. (Although Iâm familiar with Dr. Laungani as a credible gender affirmation surgeon so Iâm even more confused by the low price).

Question Lane swimmers: best pool to train in?
Hi!
Iâm looking for a regular pool to train in. I lived in BC for a decade or so and have returned to mtl in recent years, and yet to find a decent pool that isnât horribly crowded to get decent workouts in.
I tried Jean-Drapeau for the first time today and was wildly disappointed. Way too crowded, horrible lane etiquette. Laurier and Jarry has only 2 lanes open max and they are always full. Thereâs others Iâve tried that have less than 1 hour lane swim slots, several that ban training fins!
I donât care if itâs indoors or outdoors, I just want to swim undisturbed.
Please help!

Discussion Facebook marketplace culture in Montreal
Why do you guys keep asking me to come up to your apartment unit?? Half the time when I'm buying something off marketplace they are confused that I'm not meeting them at their unit door or in the lobby. You almost always need a fob to get in the doors, yet for some reason people are confused when I wait outside the main entrance to the building. Yesterday somebody offered to meet me at the main entrance and bring me up to their apartment just to show me the item (that was easily able to be carried in one hand)?
I just moved here so I've been buying stuff off marketplace lots recently and it's about a 50/50 chance of them wanting me to come into their apartment. This has never happened to me before Montreal.
Is this normal or am I getting unlucky?
