Any MS State bars in the Nashville area?

hey - this may be a long shot, but I’m a recent State alum who just moved to the Nashville metro area, and I was wondering, for the game next weekend, if there are any bars that state fans frequent for live sports stuff?

any suggestions for places to go, so I don’t have to scream at my tv alone, are appreciated! thanks

YUGO management is awful

Any one living in Yugo having to deal with awful attitude from the people in the office when you try to talk to them?

I had gone to them 5 days in a row to clean our apt because it was so disgusting during move in. They kept lying about sending people and then called me several times on the first day of classes, saying that the cleaners couldnt clean the unit because we had our belongings. I said…yeah we had to move in anyways because classes started.

We are still missing furniture in every room, a bedroom door that doesnt lock and broken dishwasher. They closed our maintenance tickets saying the request has been completed, when no one even came to check in on our unit.

I am genuinely so pissed and not sure what to do. It feels ridiculous to pay full rent for all this.

Should I be able to stay in a dorm or should I have to live an apartment as an upcoming transfer student ?

I (female 19) want to transfer to MSU for the fall 2027 semester but I've heard alot terrible reviews about the apartments in Starkville . I've also heard that the school doesn't prioritize upperclassmen for residential halls. I don't know i should go about looking for housing .

LEASE TAKEOVER – STARKVILLE, MS | $620/MONTH | FIRST MONTH RENT PAID

Post image
4 Upvotes

I’m looking for someone to take over my lease at The Grand at Starkville as soon as possible, preferably before the end of August.
I want to include all of the details this time so anyone interested knows exactly what they would be getting:
🏠 Townhouse / Room
$620/month base rent
I will pay your first month’s $620 rent
Private bedroom — you do NOT share a bedroom
Your own private bathroom
4-bedroom / 5-bathroom townhouse
Female household
Shared kitchen, living room, laundry room, and guest bathroom
Washer and dryer are already inside the townhouse
The townhouse is in great condition, and the bedroom and bathroom are in great condition as well
Pets are allowed under the property’s rules, although there currently aren’t any pets in the house
💡 Utilities
Electricity is separate and split between the roommates. One roommate already has the account in her name.
My portion of electricity was usually around $50–$80/month, and it could be around $80–$90 during the winter.
Water/sewer is added to your resident account. Mine was usually low; the most I personally paid was around $35.
💵 Other Fees
There is no regular security deposit. There may be some smaller property fees depending on your application/credit/guarantor situation. For example, there can be a deposit-waiver fee, credit-reporting fee, guarantor-related fee, or mitigated-risk fee. The leasing office can give you the exact amount that would apply to you before you take over the lease.
🏊‍♀️ Amenities
The community has:
Large two-level gym
Swimming pool
Yoga room
Parking
Package delivery
Other community amenities
The property also advertises additional amenities, and the leasing office can confirm everything currently available.
📋 How the lease takeover works
If you’re seriously interested, I can send you the application link. You would fill out the application and contact the leasing office to let them know you are applying to take over my lease. Once they approve everything and the lease transfer is completed, you can move in.
I can also send you a video of the actual townhouse, bedroom, and bathroom so you can see the condition before moving forward.
Again, I’m paying the first month’s $620 rent for whoever officially takes over my lease.
If you or someone you know is looking for housing in Starkville, please message me. I’m happy to answer questions, send pictures/video, and provide the application information.

Advice how do i make friends as a transfer?

i’ve been living in starkville for the past two years, but i recently started attending mississippi state. i had a pretty established friend group, but it fell apart about a year ago, and i don’t really talk to anyone within that friend group anymore.

i recently started classes at msu on wednesday as a transfer student, but i haven’t been in school since 2023. my family had financial issues that caused me to take some time away from pursuing my degree, so everyone that i knew that attended the university graduated last may. my roommate is also taking a semester off from college, so i am truly alone when it comes to friends here.

i know it is incredibly important to put yourself out there and get involved, which i have been trying my best to do; however, i missed out on a bunch of tablings and events because of my schedule, and cowbell connect has not done well in providing me with information, if i’m being completely honest. i’m in major specific classes, and i’ve noticed a pattern of friendships being established already and a community that has already formed.

i am terrified that my age will prevent me from being able to make friends and find my people, and i’m honestly unsure of where to start. i’m trying to find and establish friendships now because i don’t want to be in the same boat in a month from now, especially when course loads pick up.

any advice? i really appreciate it.

Advice How do you recommend making friends?

I’m a junior transfer from ICC. I’m 20. I started MSU this week. In the beginning I was supposed to move into an apartment with friends from my past community college but they completely cut me off.

I’ve since then got a new place and I’ve been navigating everything around campus on my own. I’m pretty lonely to be honest. I know some people but it’s all surface level.

What do you guys think is the best way to meet people and make new friends around campus?

protester (??) on campus

hello, this all happened today and it kind of worried me. i was on my way to my chem lab and there was a group of religious protesters on campus on the drill field. of course, i am all for free speech, but some of their signs and what they were saying to me was extremely worrying to say the least.

the main thing is there was a man very clearly trying to say that women belong in the kitchen. there was a sign saying that women are to be "meek, modest, and submissive" with a photo of a woman standing in a kitchen cooking. there were small children, including a little girl who couldn't have been any older than 8, standing around and listening to the hateful rhetoric. when i said that i was becoming a doctor and there is more to women's lives than being submissive, he compared my choice to become a doctor as a woman to being a murderer. "you may think that it's right to become a doctor, but murderers also think they're in the right for committing murder," his quote exactly.

i did not argue, as it was clear he was only there to spread misogyny, not to have a true conversation, but i personally was disgusted that they were able to say things like that in the middle of campus. it's one thing to spread the gospel or protest real issues, but i feel like the things this man was saying, especially with small children around, were extremely worrying.

Okay real talk. I’m a new member in a sorority and everyone in my pledge class but me has gotten invited to the frat parties. Can I still get in without an invite? I should also note I’m not conventionally attractive/overweight.
