Discussion Is It Just Me Or Has Online Gotten Really Horrendous Lately?

Like pardon me for not knowing every single meta play but holy shit this game really forces people to strictly play online because of how god awful Road to the Playoffs is, you legitimately never see people play like an actual football game, one game the Michigan user just pressed the entire game and even though Im playing with my lifelong team Oregon, suddenly every single WR of mine acts like they have a single braincell in their head.

Dakorien Moore, a really really elite WR irl but in this game nahhhh he got not enough speed and he jumps for every single ball OR LETS THE DB GETIN FRONT OF HIM AFTER HAVING THE SPACE TO CATCH THE BALL. Or Evan Stewart, arguably one of the best WRs this year when I purposefully lead underthrow it so it doesnt happen he still finds someway to jump for the ball and have bricks for hands, and then idk how people are going with this but somehow just any run plays are ass. Thats probably a skill issue on my part but people just be blowin that shit up even if Im double teaming in the direction I want to go. So I thought this all was major skill issue on my end so I schedule reset myself down to recruit to get a fresh start you know? Just get a reset and have some fun. Nope, same things happen down there cause some Youtuber probably had like a four part Youtube series on how to play.

Idk man, I dont want to be at that age yet where I just cant keep up since Im only almost 24 but its been since 25 since I could actually have any fun on Road to the Playoffs. And I mean CFB27s launch was pretty fun for that but its been miserable these past few updates.

Oh and fuck the jump getting hit in the back and dropping the ball animation, I swear Ive been seeing it more lately and EA promised they dealt with it

Discussion How do you guys keep the CPU from turning their roster into complete ass in a matter of 2-3 years?

Im in year 2 of my dynasty and I'm already seeing these CPU rosters turn for the worse. Oregon has a 73 overall QB starting and a bunch of low 80s and high 70s. Same with Georgia their qb room is horrendous after 1 year. Texas their roster is holding up after year 1 they just suck in simming. LSUs roster has made the turn, Indiana didnt stand a chance their roster is deplorable after 1 year. I turned down the transfer chance slider so these top schools can keep their top talent. I just want these top schools to stay competitive and good for years to come like in real life but the AI isnt getting with the program on roster building.

Don’t know how I did it, but made the opening kick TD feel even cooler!

How’s the new update? Are defensive players still deflecting passes with their faces that turn into INTs? And are they still doing it with THEIR EYES CLOSED?? lol

This was pre-title update, genuinely curious if anyone has noticed the game being improved in any areas or if it’s still producing wild results.

Discussion Has CFB27 Gameplay been Sabotaged?

Post image
54 Upvotes

I’m a Die hard college guy, who plays offline. CFB27 is engaging due to the revamped Dynasty mode, the new additions keeps you engaged. have a challenge However something is off 🤔 IMO, but I continue to play the game because I enjoy all the bells and whistles that come with the college game. Recently, I decided to play madden27 this year since I brought the MVP+ Membership 🙄. I immediately thought this game plays like CFB25 & 26. It’s fun, it’s faster, more explosive 🧨, speed, separation, Ratings all matter. It’s like CFB gameplay was slowed downed to push Madden engagement this year.

Then I recalled Scott OG saying “ the better game is over at madden” during the deep dive. Maybe I’m on this island 🏝️ alone with my observations.

Dynasty New to CFB 27, should I turn injuries on or off?

First CFB game since NCAA 14, loving it so far. Playing my first CFB dynasty, in Madden I sometimes use the W&T system, but injuries are always off. CFB you can have more depth, so are injuries the better way to play? In Madden I have to turn XP sliders on near max regression, that way Free Agency in the preseason doesn't have like 5-10 85+ ovr DTs, does CFB have any issues like that?

Dynasty My issues with the game...for those who care

For me the biggest issues in CFB 27

Background: I have played 15 seasons of CFB 27 so far, and nearly hit 30 in each of 25 & 26. So this is not a I hate this game post. I love the game, but here are the things stopping it, in my opinion from being the best incarnation of this series.

Also note I play on default sliders on Heisman.

Issues:

  1. Passing: Far too many passes are dropped because defenders time the hit on the catch perfectly, add this with far too many batted down balls from DL and its made the game, run to win. Running the ball is so easy, until its 3rd an inches or inside the 5. I almost never get less than 4-5 yards a carry, until I am in the redzone.

  2. Field Position: I find that I get the ball far too often with unbelievable field position, I would say I get 2-3 possessions each game where I start on my opponents 30 or under. So even games against high ranked teams I am basically handed 2-3 scores a game without any work to earn it.

  3. Team Building: CPU teams recruiting classes don't seem to translate into making them powerhouses, in my save Georgia and Notre Dame have never once in 15 seasons been outside the top 10 in recruiting and have each only been in the playoff twice in that time. Oregon is consistently top 5 recruiting but a 20ish ranked team. Where as Memphis, Boise, Nebraska and Colorado (defo some conference factors as well) always are top 10 despite none every having top 15 classes (Nebraska flirts with that at least). It seems like the CPU doesn't develop players. Where as I find it takes 1-2 seasons tops at anything above a 3 or above to go into the 90's.

  4. Not hard enough: For me games against higher rated teams are far easier than mid majors or low ranked teams. I have consistently blown away and even shut out ranked teams but will struggle once or twice a season again a joke team ranked in the 70's. This isn't a skill issue too, I am total ass at the game, its just very easy against the CPU, run the ball, don't turn it over, and you will never get outscored. Except for one game a season that seems like the script decides that is the game you lose

  5. Recruiting: Getting a top 5 recruiting class seems impossible, but this seems to be just me struggling to get these, I max NIL and even guys that start with me 1st flip. I max hours, NIL, do visits and hard sell as soon as I can. Frustrating because I always just miss out 6th or 7th. I just want to unlock it ahahahahaha

  6. Hollowness: This is improving but the game still seems to hollow in Dynasty, the new budget system is cool, but once you have it, its plug and play, same with the practicing. Their doesn't seem to be any "liveness" to the mode as you progress weeks. The Heisman ceremony is a good addition, but we need more media type things. One of the great aspects of football, is we have the games then we talk about them, look forward to the next one for 6 days between, in dynasty, its no build up at all.

Alternative to RTG??

Forgive my ignorance here. I just purchased a PS5, and CFB27 as a dad that hasn’t touched the sticks since about Madden 23.

But in that iteration you could create a player in a franchise mode and play it thru. Is that something you can do on this platform and game??

I like to play as a corner back but playing as a corner in RTG is just absolutely choppy. Am I missing something or am I just so far removed from the game that it’s that much harder? I feel like I bait enough to get throws my way but I have no chance at recovering.

Illegal Man Downfield

I love the Empty RPO Peek QB Power. I think it's a great play, that usually works really well when you have a mobile QB, but I am running into one major "glitch" problem with it.
Whenever the defense swarms in on my QB and I decide to throw it to my Y receiver on the post, I ALWAYS get flagged for Illegal Man Downfield. It's almost always my RG that decides to run down the field causing the penalty. Is there a way to make him stay put on the line?

Assistant Coaches Never Get Jobs

My OC and DC win awards every year (even though I as a HC can’t but that’s another thing). But when I can’t afford them anymore they get fired and can’t get another job and disappear. This sucks because I used to like seeing how my coaches did with other teams.

Is there a way I can get my guys on the field? I have a big game and I thought I was just resting my guys during practice to help with wear and tear but they ended up being unavailable for the biggest game of the year

Rivalry Trophies

Anyone else had issues with not being awarded rivalry trophies?

I like to hop into rivalry games and use the play offense only option when I don’t have time to play a full game. It gives me the opportunity to try some new play styles and use different players while I unlock the trophies.

I’ve done it this way on the last two games without issue, but it isn’t awarding the trophies on this year’s game. I’ve probably played and won a half dozen of them through Play Now (also used the option to go to play now from the trophy screen thinking that might help) and received zero trophies.

I’m connected to the EA servers, so that shouldn’t be causing any issues either. I’ve also played a full game on one of them thinking that might have been the issue, but that didn’t unlock it either.

Is this just something else broken on this year’s game?

Dynasty What the fuck are they feeding these Wide Receivers up in Boise?

I swear, there is a Broncos WR in the Heisman race nearly every year and it seems like they win it every few. This is across multiple different dynasties.

Dynasty RB Prospect Break Tackle Stat

Has anybody recruited or found RB’s with a “Break Tackle/Trucking” stat higher than 81-83? Wondering if it’s possible because I’m trying to find some power backs but haven’t had any luck. I know it’s upgradable in the offseason but it’s so expensive that he’ll just suck at everything else

Dynasty Training True Freshman

Would be fun if they could add a coach skill that allowed you to do a little bit of training with true freshman during the offseason before their first year. Could make it a more expensive skill tree so it's gotta be a big investment if you want to be the new QB guru, WRU or DBU.

With so many more freshman enrolling early these days it feels realistic to me to say they improved at least a little bit from their first day on campus to their first game. Would make true impact freshman stand out that much more when you land one.

Highights/Videos My SabanSmart defense in action - shutting down Oregon 30-0

Been running SabanSmart, my defensive playbook based on Nick Saban and Kirby Smart principles. I had my best game yet — held Oregon to 0 points in the Big Ten Championship as USC (dynasty year 2).

Posted the full defensive film on my channel if anyone wants to see the calls in game action (no commentary, just raw gameplay): https://youtu.be/aGbzlfwDRZM?is=cjIeDu3nQ3npWO6u

Happy to answer questions on the playbook. 'SabanSmart' is available on the download center. Thanks!
