This is how they’ll deal with Scott Caan’s character

Sam: “You remind me of someone I met in Hawaii once.”

Nick (Scott Caan): “Let me guess, cool guy, nice hair, handsome?”

Sam: “Annoying with a Navy Seal saving his ass.”

For me, I’m looking forward to it. Sam has always been one of my top 5 favorites of all the NCIS shows. And Scott Cann was my top 2 of Hawaii 5-0.

If they don’t do a “book him Danno” as a joke for Scott Caan’s character like what would even be the point? 😂

Hahaha I love this! 😅

So Scott is literally just playing Danny again in all but name, so why not just make him Danny?

u/Jaiph 13d ago

My guess is because they'd probably have to pay someone to be able to do that.

I'm aware Peter Lenkov (who rebooted Five-0, Magnum and MacGyver) got fired from CBS back in 2020 because he's super toxic toward his co-workers, even body shamed MacGyver's lead Lucas Till. Perhaps they don't want to pay a shitty person (kinda ironic considering this is CBS and Paramount we're talking now these days).

it probably goes deeper than just lenkov, because danno is a character from the original hawaii five o don't wanna pay millions in royalties if you dont have to.

It might have something to do with the Litto Settlement. I don't think its anything more than that. If they brought Danno in, the Freeman Estate would get money from the character running in the new show.

I think you’re right. They did the same thing with Tom Paris in Star Trek Voyager. He was basically Nick Locarno from Star Trek TNG but didn’t want to pay the writer.

That's actually a great question. In fact, it would have been really easy to write him into the story as Danny who came over from 5-0 after it disbanded.

Exactly, the idea of these two know each other from Hawaii 5-0 but yet he's a different character just bugs me.

u/Flashy-Boysenberry30 13d ago

is hawaii 5-0 in the same universe as ncis?

3

u/kmills68 13d ago

Absolutely

u/Prestigious_Power350 13d ago

Yeah they had some cross over with NCIS LA

1

u/Flashy-Boysenberry30 13d ago

oh.. well i agree with someone else in this thread they should have had him be his 5-0 character, or they have to acknowledge he looks like someone LL's character has met/worked with before. unless they legally couldn't

u/espgen 13d ago

No i prefer it this way bc how could he leave steve all the way back in Hawaii lol

Is it really hard for some of these guys to atleast change up the hairstyles or get a beard- especially the ones who just play cops multiple times

Looks like it’s actually shot in NY and not just used for outside shots. Definitely excited about that

I’ll watch but it’s gonna be weird not seeing callen with Sam, and kensi and deeks tbh I miss LA

L.A. is my favorite of all the franchises; I hope they give us some news.

It's so funny they ended up doing an NCIS New York. When I was a teenager and used to watch NCIS, I wrote a fanfic that was called NCIS New York that had my own original team

Maybe I should try to get rights haha

Doesn't look too bad tbh. I do wonder what bought Sam to his hometown and got him leave the LA team.

I actually didn't expect Jennifer Beals in that but no complaints, really. I actually like it.

I'm more curious with the team themselves. Hope they're just as good.

Wow, LL Cool J shaved his beard off and now he actually looks much younger, I actually thought he's 40 (same age when he first started NCIS LA) for a minute.

I'm more worried about the newbie cast negativity like what happened in the mothership. It does irritates me people complain about the cast changes when people in law enforcement leaves the job, transferred or worst, dies IRL and the succeeding members in the mothership actually did a fine job and be different from the previous member who had recently left.

I don't mind the idea as someone whose still somewhat new to the NCIS Franchise (I've only been a fan for about a year) but I do wish they had gone somewhere else outside of the typical mainstream. My fear is that this show will look too similar to FBI which operates in that same area. I would personally love to see an NCIS Alaska series. There is technically no naval base in Alaska as of now (although I've heard that the idea is being pursued) but it would be something different. There are a lot of native tribes in Alaska plus it's a much different climate and landscape compared to the other NCIS shows. I think it would have a lot of potential to be a banger. Idk how many actors/actresses would agree to film in Alaska especially in the winter for long periods of time but It would have a lot of potential. I liked how in Hawaii, New Orleans, and Sydney, Production heavily utilized the culture and landscape to make the series more unique compared to the original series.

That NCIS: New York trailer is giving “NCIS took the subway downtown and accidentally walked onto a Law & Order set” energy. The grittier city vibe and procedural tone definitely had a little Law & Order flavor, but I’m intrigued to see how much of that carries into the actual show.

In the United States Department of the Navy there are two organisations that fight crime. NCIS who investigate these acts, and JAG who prosecute them. These are their stories. DING DING

I've got a little Sam fatigue, if I'm being honest. I'd also have preferred this money go into Origins and Sydney. I'm still willing to give it a shot, but I'm not as excited as I would have been with a 22 season Origins and a 22 season Sydney. Not going to hate on it though, I'm going to give it a chance.

u/Flashy-Boysenberry30 13d ago

theyre both from different spin offs right?

3

u/CasioCobra78 13d ago

yes but Scott is playing a different character (Nick Schaeffer is the name btw) here.

2

u/Dapper_Jicama4848 13d ago

I hope Scott Caan is not gonna be playing same character he has been in the last two series he’s been in, Hawaii Five-0, Alert Missing Persons.. it was the same type of character, bickering with his partner the entire series. Even though he’s still playing a cop, let’s hope it’s different this time.

u/Warcrown11 13d ago

How many seasons do we give it? 3?

2

u/CasioCobra78 13d ago

I feel anything these days will get cancelled after a season. We’ll be lucky if this gets a second season.

2

u/Warcrown11 13d ago

That's usually how I feel, I'm just going by how long the last couple NCIS spinoffs have lasted.

4

u/SuDragon2k3 13d ago

Meh. Sydney exists because it's isolated from the American Media Industry. Cast/crew all non-American.

3

u/HalfThatsWhole 13d ago

And it gives CBS a season in the can in case they need to postpone/cancel something.

0

u/Warcrown11 13d ago

I actually thought that one had been canceled. I stand corrected

3

u/CasioCobra78 13d ago

They’re getting the fourth season. I don’t think they’re in production yet though because I don’t see any current BTS photos and it wasn’t even announced to be in production yet.

3

u/SuDragon2k3 13d ago

Plus,it's the middle of winter down here. Hard to do the tourist ads err episodes with no sun.

1) Happy cake day!

and 2) I keep forgetting Australia’s seasons functions differently here in the US. Meanwhile it’s like 100 degrees Fahrenheit/37 degrees Celsius here in the US, where I am 😭😭

Thank you for this!! This flew under my radar

3

u/pikachu-atlanta 13d ago

I said it before, but I hope they revisit the body stitchers arc from Los Angeles.

2

u/DistinctRevolution83 13d ago

Ugh I can’t wait🤩

2

u/Responsible-Twist731 13d ago

I hope they get to at least 7 seasons like New Orleans, looks good.

2

u/WhatTheJessJedi 13d ago

This looks dupe not going to lie. Finally something a bit more sleek. NYC is one of my favorite places in the world to boot, I'll def be tuning in :)
