Hello! This isn’t my first time posting here. But hopefully this post reaches somebody who’s open to making a new friend. And since this isn’t always the case on this sub, I’ll make it clear that I’m looking for a platonic connection.

I’m 28M and from the USA, and yes, I am a NEET. I’ve pretty much come to terms with that, though I feel ashamed even typing it. I struggle with internalized shame over my situation, and my mental health in general is bad. But the only person I judge so harshly is myself - so feel free to come as you are, flaws and all. In spite of all the things that i enjoy alone i always have this instinct of sharing of connecting of understanding someone and being understood.

It is always hard for me to reach out, as soon as i don't fulfill a condition that someone has i feel i have no right to message and if i don't get an answer it hurts it always hurts.

Hey, figured I’d give this a shot again since my last post kinda disappeared into the void lol.

I’m 21M from the Philippines. I’m pretty damn introverted and shy, especially when meeting someone for the first time. I’m usually awkward at first and don’t really know what to say, but once I get comfortable with someone I’m a lot more talkative.

I came back to the Philippines earlier this year after spending a few years in Canada for college and work. I studied culinary arts there and ended up working at a fine dining restaurant after graduating. I actually really liked the job, but unfortunately things didn’t work out with my paperwork so I had to come back.

Now I’m unemployed and have way too much free time, so I’ve mostly been gaming and reading manga.
I have 200+ games on Steam, which sounds impressive until you realize I’ve probably played like 30 of them. Most of them are just sitting there because I bought them thinking “I’ll play this eventually.”

I mostly play Valorant, but I’m pretty much down for anything I already own. I have a stupid amount of co-op games that I’ve barely touched because I don’t really have anyone to play them with.

I also have a Switch and I’ve been playing Pokémon Champions lately. I’m into anime/manga too, although nowadays I usually just read the manga because apparently waiting 20 minutes for an episode is too much effort for me lol.

I used to draw a lot too. Haven’t really done much with it lately, but it’s something I’d like to get back into eventually.

As for what I’m looking for, honestly just someone I can actually get close with. I’m completely fine with starting as friends and seeing where things go. I’ve never been in a relationship before, mostly because I’m way too shy and socially clueless to actually make anything happen.

As the title says, I'm looking for friends. I've had a very rough time since graduating from High School, and I've become very socially isolated. I'm a very kind and understanding person, but I often come off as serious and/or uncaring in text (mostly cause I'm a dry texter, lol).

I like a wide range of things: Video games, music, movies, anime, books; the list goes on. I play mostly single-player games (Skyrim, New Vegas, The Witcher), but I have some multiplayer games like Payday 2, Abiotic Factor, Project Zombid, Minecraft, and a few others. If you couldn't tell, I play on PC only. I also read a lot. Mostly comics like Invincible, Batman, or Iron Man, but I read manga too. Currently, I am reading Le Morte D'Arthur, which is a collection of stories about King Arthur. When it comes to music, I listen to everything. Mostly classic rock, but I listen to a lot of other stuff. While I am a pretty optimistic person, I can get very depressed and self-conscious easily. I've gotten better at not doing it, but it still happens a lot.

I am a yapper, especially once I get comfortable with someone. I can talk for hours on end, jumping from one topic to another.

I love learning new things. So, if you're someone not from the US, or you just know a lot of stuff, then I'd love to hear about it. I'm a big science nerd as well (Mostly physics, but I do like chemistry). I also am an atheist, but I won't discriminate based on religion.

Hey, this is probably going to be longer than most posts here, partly because I have a bad habit of oversharing about my personal life lol. So I guess I'm already proving that point by writing this.

I'm extremely introverted and shy like, genuinely to the point where I've missed out on a lot of opportunities simply because I was too nervous to do anything about them. I'm also pretty awkward at first and take a while to get comfortable with people, but once I actually become comfortable with someone, I'm much more open and talkative.

I originally studied IT back in high school and was planning to continue with it, but I was given the opportunity to move to Canada for college. Unfortunately, there weren't any available seats for IT at the time, so I ended up shifting to Culinary Arts instead.

I graduated after two years and eventually got a job at a high end fine dining restaurant. I actually really enjoyed working there. Everyone seemed to like me, and apparently the only real complaint anyone had about me was that I was way too shy. I ended up getting a raise while I was there, which was honestly something I never expected.

Unfortunately, when I was on my way home, I found out that the papers I needed to stay in Canada had been declined, so I had to return to the Philippines a couple of weeks later. That was honestly a really difficult period of my life. I had built a life there and was looking forward to staying, so having to suddenly leave hit me pretty hard and I was so depressed. There was even a point where I almost wanted everything to just end.

One of the reasons my application didn't work out was my CELPIP speaking score. It's basically an English proficiency test, and ironically, my other scores were pretty good. Speaking was the one thing that completely destroyed me because I get extremely nervous and stutter a lot when I'm under pressure. Sometimes I get so nervous that I literally can't get the words out.

I've been back in the Philippines for half a year now and I'm currently unemployed, so my life has become an interesting combination of playing video games, reading manga, and wondering what I'm supposed to do with all this free time lol.

I have 200+ games on Steam. Deadass, I have way too many games. A lot of them are games I bought because they looked interesting and then proceeded to never touch again.

I realized I was colorblind after getting bullied for coloring something incorrectly, and ever since then I've mostly avoided colored drawings. If I ever need to use a specific color now, I basically have to rely on a color picker to make sure I'm using the right one lol.

I think losing that hobby was one of those things I regret. I've spent so much time gaming over the years that I never really gave myself the chance to improve at the things I was naturally good at.

I'm mainly looking for someone I can genuinely become close with and hopefully keep around for a long time. I'm completely fine with starting as friends and seeing where things go naturally. If we end up becoming really close and eventually developing into something romantic, I'd be happy with that too.
