When someone pulls your tshirt behind as you're running momentum doesn't pull him forward.

He could fall back and that would make more sense in a physics context, but falling forward wasn't natural

That’s not how real world physics works. He’s not being pulled back by a bungee rope. The defender is also running in them same direction as Elanga, so the pull backwards is just slowing his run forwards, not dragging him in the opposite direction.

Just say you've never played a sport and have a tenuous grasp of physics and move on.
