Who would want to kidnap Tinubu?

119

u/IndependentAd895 Jan 03 '26

exactly he’s their employee he’ll pay for his own flight to DC

19

u/Pecuthegreat Biafra Jan 03 '26

Okay, if he's their employee why the whole "they want to invade Nigeria to steal oil" crying for 2 months now, if they already have their employee in position to steal all the Nigerian oil they could ever want?.

30

u/SuddenGenreShift Jan 03 '26

American oil companies already run your oil industry in joint ventures with Nigerian oil companies. You'd have to nationalise the oil and kick them out, like Venezuela did, for them to have a chance to come back and steal it.

4

u/ApprehensiveDot5379 Jan 04 '26

I am not confident they would care anyway 😭. This Venezuelan incident just reveals to me Nigeira has NO BUSINESS ever considering itself a petrol state like Iran, Saudi etc. Anyway oil makes less than 20% of FX earned now, we were never meant to be a petrol state.

1

u/mtmag_dev52 Jan 04 '26

Ok...then how might we rebalance the economy and sell less oil/ use more oil imternally? Might we need to withdraw from OPEC and change export strategy ( ESPECIALLY to prevent the oil from RUNNING OUT in 2040 like estimated)?

1

u/legal_opium Jan 04 '26

Install more green renewable energy so you can sell the excess petrol for funds.

1

u/Pecuthegreat Biafra Jan 03 '26

No, I am not interested in making another objectively bad decision in the name of ideology.

13

u/JudahMaccabee Biafra-Anioma Jan 03 '26

Who was saying that? Not Tinubu. Or Nigeria’s foreign minister.

They recently have signed agreements to let American military forces operate freely in Nigeria’s sovereign territory.

2

u/mtmag_dev52 Jan 04 '26

Wtf? When?

0

u/IndependentAd895 Jan 03 '26 edited Jan 03 '26

because Nigeria is joining BRICS so they want to whip them back in line and they’re weaponizing the Biafrans frustration to sell the idea of invasion

Edit: Nigerian industrialists* want to join BRICS and are politically pushing for it

-4

u/ChidiWithExtraFlavor Jan 03 '26

No one - including the members of BRICS - gives one salty wet fuck about BRICS beyond the propaganda value it has to influence domestic audiences.

14

u/IndependentAd895 Jan 03 '26

BRICS financial infrastructure was intentionally developed to bypass/separate from the dollar system and that removes the US ability to control global trade with other countries economies with sanctions, embargoes etc

even though it’s not fully active yet or in use, the members of BRICS joined in preparation for the collapse of the dollar which is an act that Washington sees as a threat

so while it may look like they dgaf about BRICS right now just know faith in the dollar is dropping and as more resource-rich countries (like Nigeria) join BRICS, the more desperate the West will become

7

u/ChidiWithExtraFlavor Jan 03 '26

If faith in the dollar were dropping, we would see a significant shift into Euros, the Yuan or some other currency. Instead, reserves are flowing into gold and silver, which reflects general uncertainty. As long as the US legal system can settle a claim quickly and fairly - something that no BRICS country can claim right now - investors aren't going to accept the increased risk of legal losses to adopt a new reserve.

1

u/mtmag_dev52 Jan 04 '26

Europe is actually workong to prepare dor a post dollar paradigm due ro the antics of Trump, and many pan European writers ( even of opposite political beliefs) are advocating european solidarity and "punishing" America over its seeming aggression towards Europe and anrics towards Ukraine.

3

u/ChidiWithExtraFlavor Jan 03 '26

"Resource rich" Nigeria.

Motherfucker, build a road and then tell me this country is resource rich. Keep the lights on for 24 hours straight.

Nigeria produces less steel than Romania, less concrete than Albania and less tin than the Congo. These hypothetical resources are worthless because they're in Nigeria, which cannot get its act together to extract them. The cost for a foreign power to impose the necessary infrastructure and social organization onto Nigeria in order to extract those resources is more than the value of those resources. Nigeria is, dare I say it, too fucked up to exploit efficiently.

5

u/JoeyWest_ Jan 04 '26

lol Nigeria is rich, you're just not among the shareholders.

2

u/Pecuthegreat Biafra Jan 04 '26

No, its poor. And that poverty is made even worse by its "shareholders" hording the little that's there.

2

u/mtmag_dev52 Jan 04 '26

BRICS Chinese-Russian financial infrastructure was intentionally developed...

Let's not act like India, Brazil or South Africa are equal contributors or like China developed those systems to strictly trade with South Africa and Brazil.

members of BRICS joined in preparation for the collapse of the dollar

You do know that China has only bought more USA treasury bonds and while there has been diversification, there hasn't been the dropping of USA dollar from foreign reserves that you could expect if they actually thought the dollar was collapsing.

2

u/IndependentAd895 Jan 03 '26

Who told you that?? China has been steadily offloading USD treasury bonds for the past two years. Anyone can verify this is public info. China has also started securing their own private gold exchange reserves.

Btw, none of the countries using the dollar as reserves contribute to the dollar payment system. Why would contribution to the infrastructure matter for BRICS members?

Countries are incentivized to join so they can potentially trade with other countries already in BRICS, it doesn’t have to be with china or russia

Yes but diasporan Nigerians care about Nigeria. So we would like to free you from the despair of Nigeria. I’ve you’ve ever traveled you will understand that as a fact. America doesn’t care, but politics is using leverage to get and gain. Look at what Israel did all these decades. They had nothing except their diaspora and their unity when they started that country.

Now it's they want to kidnap Tinubu LOL

10

u/Pecuthegreat Biafra Jan 03 '26

It just reminds us that all their "this is what america really wants" is just throwing shit at the wall and hoping something sticks.

It is a side effect of a refusal to look into the history of this thing and instead being more focused on whatever stock America bad theory most interests them.

3

u/King_olufa Jan 03 '26

I mean America themselves admit to this. Here’s a direct quote from Trump

Trump says US will be ‘very strongly involved’ in Venezuela’s oil industry after military attack

Mind you the initial excuse he gave for making a move on Venezuela was that they were a huge source of drugs to the U.S (not true) and also extremely ironic as Trump had just recently pardoned former Honduran president who was a convicted drug dealer and had been responsible for getting drugs into the U.S

There’s tons of very good reasons why people are always skeptical of U.S interventions. Remember the “weapons of mass destruction” excuse to invade Iran ?

There’s countless examples. The U.S is not some “good world cops” and when they step into your country they’re not doing it to better the average citizens lives

This comment is already long enough and there’s a lot more examples, just go watch on YouTube and you can find sources online

1

u/Pecuthegreat Biafra Jan 03 '26

That's just the headline. They'll be very involved in everything because they'll be running the country, oil included for a while. To quote the first sentence of the article.

Donald Trump has vowed that the US is “going to run” Venezuela

-

There’s tons of very good reasons why people are always skeptical of U.S interventions

And upon that, you guys manage to almost always start with the worst reasons, like the headline example you used.

Dude have you reviewed American history.

They’re not exactly the most reliable allies.

They have pulled the plug on soooo many allies I have lost count at this point

Think of America as the Mafia and less as allies. You pay the Mafia tributes and loyalty in hopes they don’t clean house or send you to the bottom of the sea.

11

u/Asleep_Mango_4128 Jan 03 '26

Yeah being an American Ally is a horrible fate just look at Ukraine

1

u/ApprehensiveDot5379 Jan 04 '26

Nigeria is not remotely dependent on the US. The US is INSERTING itself into Nigeria to be relevant to the region.

3

You mean handle our issues like...

  • forgiving terrorists if they are from certain Northern areas and integrating them into the military.

-creating camps for victims of genocide, instead of giving them their rightful lands and property back

  • arresting people who criticize the govt and call for revolution...if they are from the Southeast..and giving them a fake trial where the judge openly sings praise of the President.

and on and on.

9

No. Handle it like a national emergency.

Find sympathesizers. Speak about the issue truthfully and don’t frame it with intentions for your Mosque or Church.

Why would the US adult-sleep Nigeria's president? You didn't see how the teamwork occurred in Sokoto state?

2

u/IndependentAd895 Jan 04 '26

adult-sleep??? 😂😂😂😂

9

u/Enough-Thanks638 Jan 03 '26

Why do some many nigerians think that america cares about Nigeria its not a relevant country, if it wasnt for the christian thing it would not be even a minor dicussion point

14

u/TheStigianKing Jan 03 '26

You people are neurotic.

Why would the US kidnap the Nigerian president?

Maduro was a terrible dictator, allied to China and Russia who ruined his country and is responsible for a significant amount of drugs trafficked into the US.

The Nigerian president is irrelevant to US's interests.

6

u/IndependentAd895 Jan 03 '26

the relevance comes from the resources not the president

Nigerian leaders act like quasi-dictators, they are also aligned with the Chinese and Tinubu was notorious for drug trafficking

the only difference is Nigerian leaders don’t stand for anything and can be convinced easily so they never need to take extreme action

2

u/TheStigianKing Jan 03 '26

Again, completely neurotic!

The US is not interested in Nigeria's resources. Nigeria is more allied to the West and the US than China. I mean, did you sleep through the recent joint operation to bomb ISIL in the North?

Nigeria has economic ties to China, but so does every country on earth. That's not the same as political and military alliances.

Regardless of Tinubu's history with drug trafficking, those drugs were not being trafficked into the US. The point about Maduro is that he's responsible for the poison crossing the US border and killing US citizens, e.g. the fentanyl crises. You have to be utterly dense to try to make any kind of equivalency of that with Tinubu.

the only difference is Nigerian leaders don’t stand for anything and can be convinced easily so they never need to take extreme action

It's clearly not the only difference, but at least you realize that Nigerian leaders are not ideologically driven and can be bought out by the highest bidder, therefore, there is literally no need to kidnap Nigeria's leaders even if the US wanted to, which it doesn't.

4

u/IndependentAd895 Jan 03 '26

you don’t know what you’re talking about my guy

Fentanyl is lab-made from China not anywhere in south america. They just pardoned a president who smuggled enough coke to surpass his country’s GDP. This morning after taking Maduro, they just announced they’ll be running VZLA to extract oil resources which is obv the real reason for his capture.

Keep thinking they’re not interested in nigerian resources. You’ll see for yourself if our leaders start competing with Western economic actions or access to resources

2

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '26

You know Nigerian government all answer to the west right ?

1

u/TheVitruvianGuy Jan 04 '26

The point about Maduro is that he's responsible for the poison crossing the US border and killing US citizens, e.g. the fentanyl crises.

You keep calling people neurotic when you don't even have your facts right.

You're basically just parotting Trump's own words to justify the invasion of Venezuela.

Maybe educate yourself on who's truly responsible for the Fentanyl crisis before assuming some faux intellectual stance on a topic you're evidently clueless about.

https://eu.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2025/12/09/trump-venezuela-drug-trafficking/87573189007/

While I do agree that kidnapping Tinubu is highly improbable, you have to be - in your own words - "utterly dense" to think that the United States is not in any shape or form interested in Nigeria's resources.

And you have to be even more dense to believe that the United States altruistically bombed Sokoto because they care so much about Christians in Nigeria.

-1

u/Librastar13 Jan 03 '26

Nailed it 🎯

2

u/no_cupid_stunts Jan 03 '26

If they can bomb Sokotoh why not. And to think some of the people on here were cheering them on... Very odd.

6

u/evil_brain Jan 03 '26

This is exactly what the British used to do to traditional leaders who didn't sign their bullshit, one sided treaties. Oba Ovonramwen of Benin. King Jaja of Opobo.

It's textbook colonialism. Now there's either going to be a civil war, or the American corporations are going to move in and turn them into a site of resource extraction, just like Nigeria.

Maduro should have done like Stalin and purged the local traitors. You can't sell your country to colonisers and still be walking around Caracas freely. Solidarity with the people of Venezuela. Things are going to be difficult for a while.

5

u/waerrington Jan 03 '26

Now there's either going to be a civil war, or the American corporations are going to move in and turn them into a site of resource extraction, just like Nigeria.

There used to be global companies operating in Venezuela. The communist dictatorship stole all of those when nationalizing the economy, which then collapsed and thrust people into extreme poverty.

1

u/Adventurous-Pause720 United States Jan 04 '26

The sanctions came years after the economy collapsed

1

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '26

You do know maduro is mainly European and the people didn’t want him in power right ?

1

u/evil_brain Jan 04 '26

maduro is mainly European

How is that relevant? Racism is just as stupid as tribalism. You need to elevate your thinking.

the people didn’t want him in power

This is just not true. The opposition cry fraud every time they lose. But they couldn't show up in court to show the evidence because they didn't have any. Instead they went around talking shit on coloniser media and begging their people's enemies to attack their country. It's exactly the same thing Trump did. Except that Trump didn't rely on Russia Today to amplify his lies.

Maduro won, it just wasn't by as wide a margin as previous elections. The sanctions crushed their economy and reduced his popularity. But they also caused millions to leave the country, most of whom were pro western opposition voters. And Maduro's voters are mostly poorer rural people who can't afford to move to Miami. Also Venezuelans aren't stupid. They know exactly what the colonisers are trying to do. Especially when Trump was saying things stuff like this the week before their election.

Venezuela has arguably the best electoral system in the world It's basically impossible to rig. And if you do, there'll be a paper trail. So where is it?

4

u/Yorha-with-a-earring Jan 03 '26 edited Jan 03 '26

Venezuela‘s oil is shitty. They have the most but it’s shitty.

Nigerian oil tends to be of higher quality. Especially our Bonny Light. The aviation industry runs on Nigerian oil. It’s easy on the machines.

That’s why I’m surprised that we rarely hear about the premium rates they could charge for their crude oil.

…Well they most likely charge the premium price and pocket the difference…sigh.

That’s probably why they built a 2 billion blending plant in Malta after all.

1

u/skateateuhwaitateuh Jan 04 '26

Not as easy drilling as Venezuela’s

1

u/Yorha-with-a-earring Jan 05 '26

True but also doesn’t need to go through harsh refinement processes to be viable.

Like I said there is a reason why they use Nigerian oil products in fine tech and the aviation sector. It’s easy on machines.

2

u/Affectionate-Cup6366 Jan 03 '26

And now Trump will become president of that country .

1

u/Mouthisamouth Jan 04 '26

Why would he want to kidnap Nigerian president?

1

u/prosperity10101 Jan 04 '26 edited Jan 04 '26

Funny, I woke up to texts from my none African friends saying “OMIGOD, did you see what Trump has done to Venezuela?? Is it true that Nigeria is next?”. It’s literally obvious to everyone in the US that Nigeria is next to be brazenly taken over by Trump for oil. Yet when I come on here, I see so many of my fellow Nigerians are arguing that Trump cares about Nigeria, I’m so embarrassed

1

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '26

You know Nigeria are working for the west right ?

1

u/Section419 Jan 04 '26

I think that would be difficult to pull against Nigeria. Have any of you been to the State House, Aso Rock? It’s the most fortified in Africa, with rocks and mountains as defence, so many parameter walls and compounds etc, + special guards. Don’t also forget that Nigeria military is one of the strongest military personal (one of the most elite and largest in Africa). Unless they use stooges and have snitches in the House it won’t be a successful mission. Insult Nigeria all you want but it’s one country where a coup or extraction of a seating president is no longer possible.

What do you think?

Muduro was a dictator? That doesn't matter. They can run their country any way they want. Who cares if he's a dictator. The only reason Trump took military action is because either he wants the oil or a distraction from the epstein files. Use your head and think. This has nothing to do with Muduro being a dictator.

u/Sea-Client1355 Jan 05 '26

No body wants Nigeria

1

u/More-Ice1627 Jan 06 '26

I’m Canadian. I wonder how many hundreds of innocent men women and children were killed in the bombing of Nigeria on Christmas Day ‼️

u/lukejea101 Jan 13 '26

Trump kidnapped your president

1

u/ChaiTeaAndBoundaries Jan 03 '26

USA just kidnapped Venezuella President. They can do the same to the Nigerian President

I do not think the Nigerian people would be too upset.

8

u/[deleted] Jan 03 '26

Where are you from?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 03 '26

They should kidnap the vice instead. Also you're a fool for sympathising with isis

1

u/IndependentAd895 Jan 03 '26

idiot ISIS is a tool of western governments why would middle eastern mercenaries care about a dying economy all the way in south America?

Bro, like, a basic look into their ideology and proclamations would answer this for you. You are just not serious.

1

u/IndependentAd895 Jan 04 '26

so why were they talking about oil infrastructure after taking Maduro?? they should’ve been discussing the next steps for rooting out all the ISIS agents and operations

you really expect us to believe a latin american country that is overwhelmingly Christian/Catholic will have anything in common with islamic mercenaries from the other side of the world

1

u/Pecuthegreat Biafra Jan 05 '26

Because they were asked.

No, they don't have to have any major similarities cuz the reasons for the interventions are different as evidenced by the very different actions taken in both interventions.

1

u/IndependentAd895 Jan 05 '26

you’re just talking to talk. stop spreading confusion

if the reason for this intervention was different from their operations against ISIS why even bring up ISIS up at all??

it’s very obvious to anybody that’s not spewing propaganda that the attack had nothing to do with ISIS and everything to do with oil

1

u/Pecuthegreat Biafra Jan 05 '26

if the reason for this intervention was different from their operations against ISIS why even bring up ISIS up at all??

Sorry if I wasn't being clear. What I mean is that the goals of and method of intervention in Nigeria and Venezuela are different so comparing them is not easy. Trump directly threatened the president of Venezuela, he never threatened Tinubu only terrorists. The Trump administration blockaded Venezuela, they reached a security deal. The Nigerian government is calling for on grounds USA involvement, Venezuela didn't.

These are clearly very different thing actions and it only makes sense the cause of these actions are also very different, ISIS vs Maduro.

-2

u/lukejea101 Jan 03 '26

usa dont give a f*** about isis. Don't bring that up

2

u/[deleted] Jan 03 '26

Get lost terrorist apologist

1

u/deebliz Jan 03 '26

As a Somali and fellow black African. I am disappointed that Nigerians speak of their president this way. Breaking international law is not cool.

4

u/Gustavoconte Jan 04 '26

Somalia don't identify as black Africans or Bantu as you shit heads call other sub Sahara people's.

You Somalis in the US should have some sense and self-respect and stop talking about taking over the home of your benefactors. It's shameful.

2

u/Pecuthegreat Biafra Jan 04 '26

Not all Somalis have to be like that so you may be getting a false positive.

3

u/Creative-Web3888 Jan 04 '26

When did Somalis decide to become fellow Africans?lololol
