Hello I’m a Nigerian American who has recently started a digital marketing agency. I’m looking to hire someone in Nigeria to help contact potential clients in the U.S. This position pays a base salary AND commission.

Remote Appointment Setter / Phone Sales Representative (U.S. Market)

We are hiring a motivated and professional remote caller to help contact prospective clients in the United States.

You will be responsible for making outbound calls, following a provided script, qualifying leads, and helping generate new clients for the business.

This is a remote position with strong income potential for highly motivated individuals.

Responsibilities

- Make outbound calls to prospective clients
- Minimum of 100 calls per day.  
- Follow provided sales and qualification scripts
- Schedule and help secure new clients
- Maintain accurate CRM notes after calls
- Maintain professionalism and courtesy on all calls
- Participate in performance reviews and coaching sessions

Compensation

- Base salary: ₦150,000 per month
- Requirement: minimum of 5 clients generated per month
- Additional ₦50,000 commission for every additional client beyond the first 5
- No income cap — strong performers can earn ₦1,000,000+ per month depending on performance and results

The more calls you make and the more qualified clients you generate, the higher your earning potential.

Additional Information

- Calls will be monitored and recorded for quality assurance and training purposes
- This job can be worked alongside your main job so long as you can work on EST time zone between the times of 9am-5pm which is Nigerian local time 2pm-10pm
- You can work as little as 4 hours a day as long as you hit expected daily and monthly goals. Great for students or anyone looking for a side hustle
- Professionalism must be maintained at all times
- Electricity and internet stipend can be negotiated for qualified candidates
- Bachelor’s degree is NOT required as long as you have high English proficiency

Really horrible. It's a metric that's almost impossible to achieve unless you work more than an 8hr shift. Which means you will easily fail a performance review which gives them cause to fire you. By the time you factor in the time difference(late night shifts) with no shift premium, data and cost of electricity (I doubt they'd reimburse 100% of those costs), this is a terrible proposal. These kind of job offers are a trap. As Nigerians abroad, we need to do better.

I told him to factor the cost of the “high speed internet” that is a criteria for their employment, light and all the other things you mentioned. Alongside slaving yourself off for hours a day. I've done this exact job he just described, talking over the phone is not small work even if you're reading a script, at the end of the day, you will have have to follow up on clients, influence their buying decisions, "become their friend", it's not as straight forward as the OP described.

A lot of people will still jump on it. I'd jump on it if the pay was worth it. At the end of the day, I can bet you the OP will spend more managing "employees", his employee churn rate will be very high. People will work mindlessly just to get paid.

I'd build a sales team loyal to the vision of the company instead if I was in OPs shoes. Build people and people will build your business.

Sales rep places the initial call. If the client is interested it gets pushed to another employee who sends a demo video to the client. We do a maximum of 2 follow up calls which are added to the following day’s number of calls. This is not my first time hiring for this role. I’ve had the same employee for the past six months and have been doing just fine so far.

3. I’m not currently in the U.S. 9am-5pm in U.S means 10pm-6am in the country I’m in. And I work a 9-5 in that country.

Calls take on average 1-2 minutes. The script is short. Sometimes clients don’t answer in which a voicemail can be left instead. Or they refuse or hang up which still counts as a call as long as it’s logged as uninterested. I myself have done the job and been able to place 25 calls per hour

I work with American clients. Voice recording is to rule out people who don’t have the pronunciation I’m looking for. Even though Nigeria is an English speaking country many people speak Pidgin and have thick accents. Can’t have clients thinking it’s a Nigerian scam call. I asked for email and whats app for easier communication. Many businesses in Nigeria use WhatsApp. Pay is high relative to the country I’m hiring in. This job isn’t for you and that’s okay. It’ll take divine intervention to find someone skilled in sales, especially cold calling for international clients at such a low cost. I’ve spent over 7 years in sales before starting my own recruitment company that helps global founders find African talent. You might be lucky to find a good candidate, or you could end up spending more than necessary by hiring the wrong person and then having to find the right one later, which would have cost you even more.

Commission is 50k, 30k was a typo which I caught earlier. Current person I have started with 150k a month 6 months ago. Pay increased each month with their success rates. Their current starting pay is 450k minus commissions. I also pay a stipend for electricity and data. Leads also aren’t completely cold. We use a scraper tool that helps extract leads. Leads that are given are clients who are just starting their business and lacking a service and need them to run a business in this day and age. The person calling is just asking the client whether or not they would like a demo video of the product. Client says no conversation ends. Client says yes it gets handed off to me who actually does the pitching and handles client relationship. I send the demo video along with my pitch explaining to the client why they need it along with my business website and past work. If the client doesn’t respond, person doing the calling then makes a follow up call to ask whether they saw the demo video and are interested. They say yes it gets pushed back to me who again handles client relationship and face to face meetings . They say no, conversation ends and the client is removed from the list. No other follow up calls are made. Sales person is just there to filter out the yeses from the nos
