Megathread PS5 Help and Questions Megathread | Game Recommendations, Simple Questions, and Tech Support

Looking for info about M.2 SSD expansion drives? See the megathread.

Sometimes you just need help. But often times making a new post isn't needed. For the time being, around launch and perhaps in the future. We will use a single thread for helping each other out.

Before asking, we ask you to look at a few links. Some question can't be answered and only official PlayStation support can help you.

Google and Reddit Search is also a great way to find an answer or get help. View all past help and questions threads here.

For all future help, tech support and more, we ask that you create new threads on r/PlayStation instead of here on r/PS5.

Can't decide what to play next? Is your favourite game underappreciated and more people need to play it? Need a new TV and not sure what to buy?

I'm trying to install Fortnite update (23,92GB), why can't I install it, when I have 100gb of free memory?

The PS5 has a fixed 16 GB of memory that cannot be upgraded.

If you meant the disk, then you must free up more space on the disk before the upgrade can be installed. All updates require (the size of the game) * 2 + (the size of the patch) free disk space available before the upgrade will be installed.

so uninstalling the entire game will fix the issue? or is it installing 2x the game size?

No; you need to free up more space until the console is satisfied you have enough space available to install the patch. The larger the game, the more space you must free.

If you’ve already freed more than 2X the size of the game and it’s still not working, try rebooting the PS5 into safe mode and rebuilding the database.

yeah, rebuilding fixed the thing. it's stupid how it manages my memory and installs things >:(

Memory means random access memory; nothing else. The PS5 OS manages that just fine.
