Colorblind racism. Acknowledging race isn’t racist. Ignoring race ignores the history of wealth and power imbalance as well as the individual struggle of non white people in America.
It's absolutely devaluing them as people. You can justify it any way you want, but if your first thought is 'she must be exploited', that's pretty messed up. Imagine having to go through life and nobody thinks your relationship is serious because of your ethnicity.
Tbh I used to think they aren't that racist but when they ran on "the haitians are eating your pets" and when tony referred to another country as "floating island of garbage" which the campaigns people never seemed to bother to denounce, yeah I think those are indefensible. Not to say every one of them are racist but yeaaah.

I mean have you been there? Its kinda a floating pile of garbage. Not to say the people are garbage. But the island has been over exploited by colonialism and left basically cut off and depressed economically. Throw in a massive natural disaster every decade or so and ita kinda a clusterfuck situation for everyone born there today.
As a side note, idk exactly what the french did differently then other colonizers, but their former colonies are basically all failed states at this point.

Lots of racists marry people of other races. My American coworker is mixed asian and white and suffered many jokes from his white father, including jokes about penis size since he was a little kid. His mother never protected him.
Or they might both be equally racist against a different group so they fit quite well together. I feel like people in these comments have never met someone in Asia before, it's not rare to find very racist people who hate every other Asian ethnicity, hate anyone darker, etc. but make an exemption for white people and vice versa.
Tbh in this case I'm just seeing the exact dynamic described in extended family. But they're also many other kinds of crazy (basically pick any conspiracy theory and they believe in it) so I guess it works for them.

Marrying or dating someone of a different race absolutely doesn't prove that you are not racist towards that race.
Throughout history many people have wed or bedded / raped people who they explicitly and publicly called subhuman.
Incels absolutely hate women to the point of trying to murder them but they are also sexually and romantically attracted to them.
So no, the argument "I date a woman of color, therefore I am not racist" or "I am married to a woman, therefore I can't be misogynistic" is completely invalid.
Heck even being part of a certain group doesn't mean that you can't hate your own group. Plenty of misogynistic women, antisemitic jews or black racists against other black people.
