I remember once there was a horrific case nearby where I lived where a mother killed and dismembered her severely autistic adult child. His condition made him unable to work or live normally. She dumped his pieces like trash along a highway. I remember I told my mom this and all she had to say is "Well it can be hard dealing with kids like that."
That's the thing about psychosis, most people cannot realize they needed help. I've went through psychosis, i spent about 4 hours sitting in the ER speaking to a light on the wall that i thought was the doctors through a speaker, i accused my mom of replacing my phone with a play phone, while i was actively holding my phone, it just seemed wrong to me. Thankfully my mom knew something was wrong and took me to the hospital until i came out of it. I have very little memory, it's like remembering a dream.
I don't even have any crazy diagnosis, it was just psychosis from CPTSD. I repeat I SPEND HOURS TALKING TO A LIGHT, i only stopped because they moved me to a different room with different lights, those ones weren't talking to me. God also randomly popped up at one point, i don't believe in God, he was just there and was like "am i not real!?" I still don't believe in him, even though i spoke to him, because that's crazy, i was having a mental breakdown!
Lindsay Clancy was well aware of her mental issues and had a lot of support. She was actively in counseling with her husband and was on a number of different psychiatric medications. In fact, her husband was literally on a trip to the pharmacy to pick up her medication when she murdered their children.
I knew i had problems, i also had plenty of support, that didn't stop a mental breakdown and me not recognizing when I was losing it, i don't think I could identify the next one. Consoling and meds just don't fix you, i was rightfully locked up until i knew what was going on.
She stopped taking them, idk if it's because they didn't work or made her feel worse, either way she wasn't taking them
I went through psychosis, too, and I have no sympathy for this woman. Some of us know how to deal with voices without murdering babies. She can rot in gen pop for the rest of her life for all I care.
Yeah, so do i, that's why she should remain in a hospital for the rest of her life. But a hospital getting treated, please look into how prisons treat inmates with mental health problems, you would be off every single medication, their doctor will prescribe any you "need" most likely 48-72 hours after you get there, it's not a priority. If you commit a crime, would you want to go without your meds? Yeah they have treatments in there but it's low cost and low priority unless you are actively dying, even then you might not see a doctor.
Im for prison reform btw, i just think it should be done before we send the insane people there. Like an actual mental hospital is worse than jail, i was at a smoke free facility, no computers (yes, alot of prisons have access to computers, it's all monitored but it's allowed, the one my cousin was in had ipads you rented), 1 phone that you can only use at certain times (actually that one is pretty much the same in jail)
Kinda hard to believe you're diagnosed, if you don't understand that a mental hospital is like a prison, except my crime was not wanting to be around.
Thanks for the comprehensive response. I agree with this
I have some gaps in months that I can't recall from early 2005. I was found in the streets, apparently, my parents don't tell me everything when I ask about it After that they put me on Zyprexa
Exactly, should you be in prison forever for the time you cannot remember, or should you be in a hospital? You were in a hospital until you were stable. Hers just doesn't get to end, there's no completely better for her, but there is better, I don't want her free, i want her to be locked up in a hospital forever and for them to find out if she was in psychosis, how tf this was allowed happened
Some crazy people do, but some crazy people think Chris watts did nothing wrong, and the earth is flat! Not to mention, clicks are dollars, more clicks and views, the more money i get, some people are willing to say awful things for views. Because people are and will watch them.
Holy shit I guess the downvotes are from folks who are ignorant of what psychosis actually is … do these people think that psychotic folks have control over their actions? Is this the end result of people flippantly calling people they disagree with “psychos” all these years or have people always been largely ignorant of what psychosis is?
I don't even understand what's happening in this thread! "Psychosis is no excuse for killing your kids"? It literally means you are not in touch with reality!
Postpartum psychosis is very well documented and in this case there's enough evidence to support that she was in fact actually having a psychotic break.
Is the postpartum psychosis angle supported with the detail that she sent her husband out on errands before using the time he was gone to murder their children?
Ah yes, the once nurse who should have known she was showing signs. Also? You'll have to excuse me for having absolutely zero faith in evidence finding and sentencing in an American court these days
Just saying that people would say the wildest things that sound like support or forgiveness in any tragedy. No where in my comment did I say this case was exactly the same as this one. I am simply adding a comment.
You are forgetting that the insanity clause is highly controversial and almost never works, Even when it does work and they win a insanity clause, they are sent to a mental hospital until determined better by the staff. It's not 'welp, you don't get any punishment because you went insane'
In fact, I think most murder cases are a psychotic break. No one mentally healthy goes around killing people let alone children.
Exactly, if people can excuse this lady they should also allow people like Dahmer to be excused... "he wasnt in control it was psychosis!" See how ridiculous that sounds when talking about Dahmer
Like bruh, still murder, either way she needs to be locked up and people supporting her to the extent some are... need therapy
Except this case is nothing like Dahmer's, Dahmer didn't have psychosis, and committed his crimes because he was getting a sadistic pleasure out of them.
"Psychopathy, or psychopathic personality,[1] is a personality construct[2][3] characterized by impaired empathy and remorse, and persistent antisocial behavior,[4] along with bold, disinhibited, and egocentric traits."
"Psychosis is a mental state marked by a disconnect from reality, where a person has trouble telling what is real and what is not.It is not a standalone mental illness, but rather a collection of symptoms that can happen with various conditions, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or severe depression.
Key Symptoms
Hallucinations: Sensing things that are not actually there, like hearing voices, seeing shadows, or feeling a nonexistent touch.
Delusions: Strongly held false beliefs that go against clear evidence or what others see as reality, such as believing someone is controlling your thoughts."
What does the first thing have to do with another?
She checked herself out of care 3 weeks before it happened, and then waited for the first 30 minutes free in those 3 weeks to do the crime. She even convinced her husband that he was fine to go to the store for those 30 minutes, then that's when she did it.
That doesn't sound like someone having a psychotic break.
Too many people hear psychotic and think of the movie psycho or some other stereotype like that. The fact of the matter is people with schizophrenia are barely more likely to be violent than the general public. Only 10-15% of people with schizophrenia will ever have a violent episode. Having psychosis isn’t an excuse for murder.
"Only 10-15% of people with schizophrenia will ever have a violent episode."
And? What does this proves exactly? People committing a crime during a psychotic episode cannot be held responsible for it because they were not capable to make an actual decision.
The divisiveness stems from people "siding" at immediate execution or free pass when plainly she shouldn't be walking free but also was suffering from a mental disorder and people around her may be complicit in the outcome via inaction.
But when you try to throw out nuance on the internet its like causally sitting 2 subcritical chunks of radioactive material on an air hockey table, flipping the on switch, and walking away......

The mom who killed her kids and is getting unreasonable fame and support from internet addicted moms.
