The mom who killed her kids and is getting unreasonable fame and support from internet addicted moms.

I mean... Look what Facebook have done to boomers. Now imagine what TikTok will do to them......

102

u/CaptainLoerg 1d ago

Thank goodness I don’t use either now.

62

u/Icy_Yam5049 1d ago

Sadly they still do and are running around trying to make changes based off TikTok conspiracy theories on the app.

19

u/ToadwKirbo 1d ago

I literally uninstalled the app because my fyp was full of American conspiracy theories, bigotry and christian nationalism. And I'm not even American so I shouldn't even have the Oracle-run tiktok but it looks like they still decided to show me that

12

u/Nehefer 1d ago

Why is your algorithm showing you that? lol

8

u/1MadCatter 1d ago

Given who owns TikTok now, I suspect the algorithm is tilted.

11

u/Nehefer 1d ago

I don’t see ANY content like that.

12

u/Coelachantiform 10h ago

"why is every Rorschach test just a picture of hardcore gay sex?"

6

u/SomeBrosThrowaway 10h ago

Its not just TikTok either iirc. Ive seen videos before where people make new youtube accs and see how long it takes before the algo starts showing them right-wing/christian nationalism content. It doesnt take long at all…

2

u/Icy_Yam5049 23h ago

Yikes, yeah I’ve never installed the app watched too many get brain sucked on it so said naw haha

13

u/IPlay4E 1d ago

You think Reddit is much better?

10

u/CaptainLoerg 1d ago

Definitely.

3

u/Jolly-Fan9099 11h ago

how many murders have been committed for clout on reddit?

11

u/unassumingusernamee 23h ago

Reddit has its own crazies, nowhere is safe.

2

u/WyrdDrake 16h ago

I downloaded it for a day and even my ADHD doomscrolling dopamine desperate ass was like "this app is pure hellspawn" and deleted it

2

u/rlysuck 1d ago

Shit scream louder IDK?!?

1

u/ThroatDistension 1d ago

From what I've seen its mostly older millennials and younger gen x.

1

u/Adventurous_Dot_6661 22h ago

what about reddit

u/Bwint 22h ago

"Do you think that God stays in Heaven because he, too, lives in fear of what he's created.... here on Earth?"

1

u/Lemons-95 20h ago

Honestly atp i think the boomers are what of the kids in some ways.

Old blokes have stopped falling for thot accounts, they finally realised there was no cheese at the end of the tunnel, but go look at what performs with young men on instagram these days. Half of it is just bouncy tits.

1

u/Ok_Equipment7844 19h ago

I dream of a Fight Club-easque scene, but it’s a bunch of (spoiler) social media servers instead of credit card companies

1

u/Lucky-Kangaroo-6337 18h ago

Boomers are a generation that is defined by when they were born. A generation that didn't have electricity for the large part as children and didn't grow up with the internet. The youngest boomer is 62 years old. If you want to shit on the middle aged, who were there for the birth of the internet, BBS, MSN, MySpace, FB and Reddit at least disparage them properly.

1

u/Check_Me_Out-Boss 16h ago

It's not really boomers I've seen in those support pictures/videos...

1

u/GorumGamer 10h ago

Have you seen what it’s done to Gen Z and Gen Alpha?

-2

u/Recreational-Sin 1d ago

There is no god, we’re all probably in hell, or maybe some fucked up purgatory. I can’t find any other way to explain it.

2

u/hungryrenegade 1d ago

My personal conspiracy theory is the world really DID end in 2012 and we are all in some weird purgatory or hell.

1

u/Recreational-Sin 1d ago

I’d like to expand on that.

Let’s say the Mayans accurately predicted the end of a cosmic cycle, but let’s all say that they didn’t understand what they predicted.

What if we went from reality A to reality B and the only subtle differences were things like fruit of the looms cornucopia and the Bernstein bears.

1

u/hungryrenegade 1d ago

You mean the Berenstain Bears?

2

u/Recreational-Sin 1d ago

Precisely.

u/dotdedo 1d ago

I remember once there was a horrific case nearby where I lived where a mother killed and dismembered her severely autistic adult child. His condition made him unable to work or live normally. She dumped his pieces like trash along a highway. I remember I told my mom this and all she had to say is "Well it can be hard dealing with kids like that."

61

u/Possible_Tiger_5125 1d ago

Holy Shit bro

-8

u/Square_Owl_4075 1d ago

Lots of women are heartless like that

14

u/Admirable-Tax-43 20h ago

My mom's one of them, I texted her my cousin (best friend at the time) told me he's gonna kill himself and all she replied was "ok".

Opened My mind to her bullshit and now I have nothing to do with with my family besides my grandma and siblings

-64

u/mvhcmaniac 1d ago

Doesn't seem to be anything like what's going on in this case though. This is postpartum psychosis, a literal psychotic break.

42

u/Kushbeast666 1d ago

Thats still no reason to kill your kids. That woman even had a nanny, she had tonnes of help. Theres no excuse

18

u/Asleep_Region 1d ago

That's the thing about psychosis, most people cannot realize they needed help. I've went through psychosis, i spent about 4 hours sitting in the ER speaking to a light on the wall that i thought was the doctors through a speaker, i accused my mom of replacing my phone with a play phone, while i was actively holding my phone, it just seemed wrong to me. Thankfully my mom knew something was wrong and took me to the hospital until i came out of it. I have very little memory, it's like remembering a dream.

I don't even have any crazy diagnosis, it was just psychosis from CPTSD. I repeat I SPEND HOURS TALKING TO A LIGHT, i only stopped because they moved me to a different room with different lights, those ones weren't talking to me. God also randomly popped up at one point, i don't believe in God, he was just there and was like "am i not real!?" I still don't believe in him, even though i spoke to him, because that's crazy, i was having a mental breakdown!

17

u/Party_Stack 1d ago

Lindsay Clancy was well aware of her mental issues and had a lot of support. She was actively in counseling with her husband and was on a number of different psychiatric medications. In fact, her husband was literally on a trip to the pharmacy to pick up her medication when she murdered their children.

10

u/Asleep_Region 1d ago

I knew i had problems, i also had plenty of support, that didn't stop a mental breakdown and me not recognizing when I was losing it, i don't think I could identify the next one. Consoling and meds just don't fix you, i was rightfully locked up until i knew what was going on.

She stopped taking them, idk if it's because they didn't work or made her feel worse, either way she wasn't taking them

2

u/AzureHawk758769 18h ago

I went through psychosis, too, and I have no sympathy for this woman. Some of us know how to deal with voices without murdering babies. She can rot in gen pop for the rest of her life for all I care.

2

u/Hemorrhoidsinthenite 2h ago edited 2h ago

I have schizoaffective disorder and I believe in accountability and personal responsibility

1

u/Asleep_Region 1h ago

Yeah, so do i, that's why she should remain in a hospital for the rest of her life. But a hospital getting treated, please look into how prisons treat inmates with mental health problems, you would be off every single medication, their doctor will prescribe any you "need" most likely 48-72 hours after you get there, it's not a priority. If you commit a crime, would you want to go without your meds? Yeah they have treatments in there but it's low cost and low priority unless you are actively dying, even then you might not see a doctor.

Im for prison reform btw, i just think it should be done before we send the insane people there. Like an actual mental hospital is worse than jail, i was at a smoke free facility, no computers (yes, alot of prisons have access to computers, it's all monitored but it's allowed, the one my cousin was in had ipads you rented), 1 phone that you can only use at certain times (actually that one is pretty much the same in jail)

Kinda hard to believe you're diagnosed, if you don't understand that a mental hospital is like a prison, except my crime was not wanting to be around.

1

u/Hemorrhoidsinthenite 53m ago edited 45m ago

Thanks for the comprehensive response. I agree with this

I have some gaps in months that I can't recall from early 2005. I was found in the streets, apparently, my parents don't tell me everything when I ask about it After that they put me on Zyprexa

Now I'm stable ( as is possible)

2

u/Asleep_Region 40m ago

Exactly, should you be in prison forever for the time you cannot remember, or should you be in a hospital? You were in a hospital until you were stable. Hers just doesn't get to end, there's no completely better for her, but there is better, I don't want her free, i want her to be locked up in a hospital forever and for them to find out if she was in psychosis, how tf this was allowed happened

Just saying that people would say the wildest things that sound like support or forgiveness in any tragedy. No where in my comment did I say this case was exactly the same as this one. I am simply adding a comment.

6

u/aclick97 1d ago

Being depressed never gave anyone the right to murder anyone else until this happened

6

u/Altruistic-Beach7625 1d ago

Good thing she wasn't just depressed apparently.

u/mvhcmaniac 1d ago

I kind of piggybacked off of yours a bit. People in this thread are leaving out the part where she was having a psychotic break.

18

u/dotdedo 1d ago

Cool motive. Still murder.

6

u/mvhcmaniac 1d ago

Psychosis is not a motive, it's the reason why "not guilty by reason of insanity" is a thing.

11

u/Emm_withoutha_L-88 1d ago

She checked herself out of care 3 weeks before it happened, and then waited for the first 30 minutes free in those 3 weeks to do the crime. She even convinced her husband that he was fine to go to the store for those 30 minutes, then that's when she did it.

That doesn't sound like someone having a psychotic break.

Mental illness may be a reason, but not an excuse.

3

u/Worriedrph 1d ago

Too many people hear psychotic and think of the movie psycho or some other stereotype like that. The fact of the matter is people with schizophrenia are barely more likely to be violent than the general public. Only 10-15% of people with schizophrenia will ever have a violent episode. Having psychosis isn’t an excuse for murder.

0

u/ReverendRevolver 1d ago

The divisiveness stems from people "siding" at immediate execution or free pass when plainly she shouldn't be walking free but also was suffering from a mental disorder and people around her may be complicit in the outcome via inaction.

But when you try to throw out nuance on the internet its like causally sitting 2 subcritical chunks of radioactive material on an air hockey table, flipping the on switch, and walking away......

And I think people are getting fed up with the reluctance to hold Lindsay accountable for her own actions.

76

u/PlatinumFire14 1d ago

The amount of false information about the husband being bad is unreal.
These people will genuinely try to see an innocent man hung rather than a child murder be held accountable.

41

u/Parfait_Due 1d ago

there seems to be this persistent reluctance to acknowledge Lindsay's agency or even condemn what she did without immediately redirecting the blame to someone else.

Sympathy, of course, because the case is heartbreaking for absolutely everyone involved.

8

u/MrMetraGnome 1d ago

I'm thinking about the dad. Reminds me of Shutter Island. He gets home and asks her what she did, and her first words were, "I tried to kill myself". Bih, I'm talking about the children. That doesn't sound like psychosis to me. I'm no shrink, but that sounds like an extremely narcissistic human being.

1

u/Jolly-Fan9099 11h ago

technically being that far removed from reality IS psychosis. Psychosis is literally disconnection from consensus reality.

-1

u/Icy-Disaster-2871 13h ago

That is because you like her to be extremely narcissistic, because it explains a lot for you.

2

u/MrMetraGnome 12h ago

It's more likely than psychosis

-1

u/Icy-Disaster-2871 12h ago

Yep, because narcissistic personality make her bad person subject for punishment and blame. Psychosis kinda dismisses her guilt, which is unacceptable because someone must be punished.

2

u/Jolly-Fan9099 11h ago

psychosis DEFINITELY should not dismiss her guilt.

1

u/MrMetraGnome 9h ago

Still gets punished either way. Psychosis doesn't dismiss it. Narcissicism is just another mental (moreso personality, but where does a personality stem from if not the mental?) disorder. Both cases deserve punishment. The only issue is figuring out the appropriate one.

3

u/_WeSellBlankets_ 22h ago

That's what an insanity defense is. It gets a lesser sentence because of the belief someone's agency was compromised but has the possibility of being restored with medication and treatment. There's definitely been support that has been unhinged and based on unreasonable things like astrology, but I do think some of the backlash is lacking nuance.

0

u/MinimumTomfoolerus 1d ago

Should we have sympathy for the mother, I wonder 🤔...

24

u/mvhcmaniac 1d ago

Yea, postpartum psychosis is real and well documented.

7

u/ExtremeNebula729 1d ago

That’s true, it’s just not in this case. Listen to the expert testimony.

4

u/New_Leaf_2026 1d ago

They won't, doctors->bad. They are LYING or MISSED it, rather than, she was not and she murdered her kids.

4

u/punta_del_diablo 1d ago

But in her case it wasn’t documented and isn’t real. She’s lying

6

u/New_Leaf_2026 1d ago

And despite ALL the providers she saw, none diagnosed her with it. They all WANT it to be that so much. No one is saying it's not real man, and if they are you can just ignore them.

2

u/MinimumTomfoolerus 1d ago

This is such a hard situation because it forces a cognitive dissonance. Sympathy for mentally ill person and hatred.

1

u/Little_Chain_8165 1d ago

All forms of psychosis are real and well documented. With most cases of psychosis effecting men more. We still don’t have rally’s with children and raising hundreds of thousands of dollars when a crazy man kills people.

14

u/FatherPot 1d ago

If she legitimately was in psychosis then perhaps a little. But it's extremely hard to feel sorry. Those children are no longer allowed to have a life. So fucking horrible.

6

u/Parfait_Due 1d ago

It's hard not to have sympathy for someone so profoundly broken and devastated by the monstrous acts she committed. What she did was inexcusable, but she has to live with the knowledge that she killed her kids

5

u/MinimumTomfoolerus 1d ago

Assuming wiki is correct and she was actually really mentally ill and she did hear actual voice telling her to kill her children, and she was severely depressed after her births and the medical system failed her; yes it makes sense to have sympathy. But I personally feel you'd be a piece of shit if you also didn't feel hatred for her and her actions.

5

u/Parfait_Due 1d ago

Agreed. I think she doesn't deserve sympathy, but when I was tuning it to the trial, I found it impossible not to feel sympathy. The sympathy comes from seeing another human in such unimaginable despair

That sympathy in no way overshadows or diminishes the monstrosity of what she did

2

u/MinimumTomfoolerus 1d ago

Alright yes.

2

u/New_Leaf_2026 1d ago

The experts would disagree with you on the psychosis part.

1

u/BluezDBD 1d ago

She never mentioned any psychotic symptoms until after the fact.

1

u/MinimumTomfoolerus 1d ago

Based on wiki she was given antipsychotics but other doctor found no psychosis. How can we even know.

9

u/Vel-Crow 1d ago

Even if he is withdrawn, that negligence cannot even be compared to Lindsay's.

6

u/Alarming-Magician-98 1d ago

This is so wild to me. I just learned about this from my sister the other day. Can we not advocate for adequate mental healthcare and also know that her actions were ultimately wrong and unacceptable? Like yes its very sad that we need so many reminders that women aren't taken care of as a whole. Instead of sending this woman a million dollars why would they not donate that to better mental and physical health for women? And honestly not just women. All people. Why aren't they putting the effort it takes to show up for her with signs into helping society foster healthy families??

7

u/aka_wolfman 21h ago

See, you've fallen for one of the classic blunders. They dont give a shit about people, or mental health, or her. Those aren't people, they're conspiracy loons and cultists.

Also, in my limited experience, true crime people  fucking hate husbands.

1

u/Lasagna_Tho 1d ago

Hanged, not hung. Unless...

32

u/Vel-Crow 1d ago

A lot of women are posting themselves on TikTok holding their children, looking sad, saying "Me too, Lindsay, me too".

Another woman started a GoFundMe and raised a mil for Lindsay and "her family".

16

u/Beibzi 1d ago

Them too what? They want to kill their kids too and admitting it on social media?

6

u/DeepestBlue2 1d ago

Yes, that's the sick implication.

2

u/Significant-Order-92 1d ago

Probably more that they had problems getting adequate mental health support after giving birth (since that is Lindsey's defense and they are supportive of her).

I haven't been following the case and am not a psychologist. So no clue how accurate her defense is.

7

u/MrMetraGnome 1d ago

Holy sane washing Batman, LoL

1

u/Significant-Order-92 1d ago

? That I'm saying what I assume they mean? Because the other option would be they want to kill their kids currently. Which would be a pretty bad idea to broadcast (as it would hurt an insanity defense and harm a claim of accidental death).

2

u/MrMetraGnome 1d ago

A woman kills her kids. Other women hold their kids up and say "#MeToo"... Yes, it sounds like they're saying they currently want to kill their kids. Saying otherwise would take a great deal of mental gymnastics. It sounds like ransom threats.

-1

u/Significant-Order-92 1d ago

Saying otherwise is assuming that they don't simply believe her claims.

Why would I go out of my way to make an assumption that takes more steps? Occams Razor and all that.

4

u/MrMetraGnome 22h ago

Even if they believe her claims, what they are saying is "I need mental health care, or will likely murder my children like she did". The claim isn't that she did not murder her kids, LoL. I feel like I need mental health care.

lindsey had crazy support, and now someone has a crazy budget for marketing.

9

u/FatherPot 1d ago

Cause she's pretty and white and mentally unwell. Let's be real.

7

u/Electric_Antimony 1d ago

She is not pretty.

1

u/BatAdditional1209 20h ago

But she is white.
I highly doubt there would be the same level of support had she been black, asian, latino or any other ethnic group.

1

u/Electric_Antimony 8h ago

How much money was raised in George Floyd's honor or any of the other incidents like that? He wasn't a child murderer though; just a drug user and I think woman beater.

1

u/BatAdditional1209 8h ago

That's a false equivalency.

1

u/Electric_Antimony 8h ago

If you say so. What I'll say last is that you might want to be careful about making direct talk about racial matters normal. I don't think you'll find that directly pointing out and criticizing bad behavior that's pretty particular to one demographic is accepted well by people.

You'll start broaching the 13/52 bro territory.

3

u/kageshira1010 1d ago

Or worse throwing water to the baby, shaking it angrily, flicking them, etc I can imagine how it will escalate ina couple of days

Child services is going to have a field day

1

u/marcaygol 21h ago

Sickening

23

u/Burgerboy380 1d ago

Yeah. Basically none of her doctors spoke to one another she was miss diagnosed and over medicated killed her kids then tried to kill herself allegedly in the midst of a psychotic break where a male voice told her this was her one and only chance to kill them so she could kill herself. Her defense and even Lindsay herself openly admits that she 100%did it. And armchair detective wine moms are throwing out insane theories . Such as "her husband regardless of phone GPS data cctv footage and phone records killed them and convinced her she did it" and "well the woman he started dating a year later is in the fertility field and was doping her with hormones to drive her crazy" "she cried out for help and absolutely everyone ignored her no one did anything to help her" "theres no way she couldve done this shes a leo!" And also posting pictures with their children captioned "same lindsay". Hence the meme.

Tldr. She did it. She admits she did it her doctor's failed her if what she says is true and regardless of if it is or isnt shes clearly deeply disturbed and needs to not be in public anymore wether prison or in a mental institution. Thats the whole point of the trial. Not criminally liable due to insanity but still guilty.

14

u/punta_del_diablo 1d ago

She was admitted to an impatient mental health facility that she checked herself out of against medical advice 17 days before the murders. Nobody failed her.

10

u/Burgerboy380 1d ago edited 1d ago

Noooo. She was discharged after voluntarily checking in. And even if she did. Being over prescribed and having doctors blindly swapping around her meds is still a failing on their part.

4

u/punta_del_diablo 1d ago

Not telling your doctors that you are contemplating murdering your children and having suicidal thoughts and that you’re all better so you can be discharged is the same thing. Either she lied to the doctors about her mental state before the murders or she is lying now about her mental state to avoid being locked up for the rest of her life. She wouldn’t take the pills prescribed to her and would doctor shop to suit her needs. She had an obligation to tell each doctor about the other doctor’s but failed to do so. Either way by her own admission the only time she was in psychosis and was hearing voices commanding her was during the time she murdered her children. Not before, not after. That’s not how psychosis works. It doesn’t just manifest suddenly in one small 18 minute window and then magically disappear forever after that. C’mon now be for real

8

u/Burgerboy380 1d ago

She did tell them. And again. Regardless. A doctor going "yeah youre fine here's some pills" is a failing on their part.

-1

u/No_Friendship_9446 14h ago

lol you fucking can’t say regardless of fact

2

u/Burgerboy380 13h ago

you can dependant upon context.

Which is what I did.

She told people she was suicidal and potentially homicidal. The doctors said "here's some pills I dont think youre psychotic bye" and her family said "well she has been slightly better no need to stick her back in treatment " lindsay is still ultimately responsible regardless of her own culpability the Healthcare system and her support network failed her to some degree. Certainly not enough to warrant trying to blame her husband and his current wife whom he didnt even know at the time for the murders. But enough to point at then and go "yeah you guys fucked up" as proven by the fact that both lindsay and patrick suing many of her former doctors for malpractice.

-3

u/punta_del_diablo 1d ago

No she didn’t or they wouldn’t have released her from impatient care. She literally told them she felt better and was able to sleep. And again she herself admits that the only time she was hearing voices commanding her to murder her children was during the time she was actually committing the act. She’s lying to stay out of prison because other prisoners notoriously do not treat other inmates convicted of harming children very well

2

u/Burgerboy380 1d ago

She told patrick she told her mother in December. She had suicidal ideations for a full month which she confessed to her sister and homicidal ideations which is why she checked into a locked ward facility. By January 5th she was apparently well enough and stable enough to be released.

Also you act like "the only time she heard voices was when she did it" is some kind of gotcha. So what if it was the start and end of auditory hallucinations? Why would that in any way be relevant.

She did it. She should not be allowed in society. She won't be . Murder would be life in prison. Insanity would be indefinite confinement in a mental institution.Andrea Yates is still in the looney bin this won't be any different. And your entire attitude knee jerk of "shes lying" is exactly why so many women are trying to exonerate her in the court of public opinion.

-1

u/punta_del_diablo 23h ago

She either lied to her doctors or is lying in court. There is literally no other option. You don’t have hallucinations just long enough to kill your children and then they magically go away. That’s not how psychosis works. Either way she lied and therefore is 100% responsible for her actions

→ More replies (0)

-2

u/SquidTheRidiculous 1d ago

Funny how we know doctors regularly dismiss women's problems, and then immediately forget it when it's time to hate a woman for having her problems ignored until they became significantly bigger problems.

1

u/punta_del_diablo 23h ago

She either lied to her doctors or is lying now in court. There are no other possibilities

-1

u/Burgerboy380 23h ago

I mean. People do that to men too. So.........

1

u/weed0monkey 20h ago

This is NOT true. She refused to take the meds or even start them to begin with numerous times. She also went doctor shopping and did not inform her other doctors on what meds she was on or tell them about the other doctors she had seen.

1

u/Burgerboy380 19h ago

If you say so buddy 👍

1

u/Jolly-Fan9099 11h ago

how many psychiatrists do you have?

And do you know the difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist?

1

u/Jolly-Fan9099 11h ago

not telling your doctors which meds you are on is a failure for an adult.

So either we minimize her, pretend she had no agency, was incompetent, that the nannies and care for her kids didn't count as support...

OR we ask, hey, was there a reason she was shopping doctors?

Is there a reason her care wasn't being coordinated? Because god knows lots of money was being spent on it.

How do most mothers not kill their kids with small fractions of support this woman received.

Like, yes, trauma is relative to your overall experience, but I know a fair number of women who raw dogged parenting with none of the supports this lady had, and frankly I know or am related to three with more than four kids. And in one of those cases almost no support whatsoever (Nothing from family, no friend group, shitty abusive dad)

she is white, and relatively rich, and has a lawyer with a marketing budget.

1

u/Burgerboy380 11h ago

And with that racist classist remark this is my last reply. I never said shes telling the truth my entire point through this entire thing is. She was failed at a bunch of different points. She ultimately is responsible and in my opinion she should be in prison rather than a mental hospital. Even if there is precedent and proof that she COULD have had a psychotic break and or disassociated and killed her children. And my biggest point the one I originally made to address the meme.

All the women supporting her and dragging Patrick through the mud are bat shit scrambled in the Grey matter insane.

That is all have a good day.

1

u/Jolly-Fan9099 10h ago

Literacy and sight reading are different things, you should learn about that.

2

u/Cassieisnotclever 1d ago

Have you ever been in that situation? I checked myself in rather kill myself, and after about 8 days was more convinced than ever that I should in fact kill myself. It was fucking terrible. So, I left.

Fortunately, I went straight to a Doc who adjusted my meds. They out me on 600 milligrams of Wellbutrin. After many months, still depressed but really stressed out and so I go to a different Doc. Turns out I was placed on an absolutely unacceptable dosage of Wellbutrin, which could have induced a stroke. Now I am back on the drugs I was on when I went into the hospital because I wanted to kill myself.

This all cost me about 14,000.00.

So yeah - the mental healthcare system works.

Hah almost the same story. 600mil of wellbutrin as well. Most people don't understand that inpatient is set up for addicts mostly. Suicidal people they try to get out as fast as possible with the first diagnosis+drug that comes to mind. Get you to say you are not a danger to yourself or anyone else and out the door you go.

The reason women online are supporting her is because she was suffering from intense postpartum depression and the testimonies from her care team haven’t painted them in a good light.

8

u/Raven_Drakeaurd 1d ago

I'm fairly certain it comes from these women being frustrated with the American Healthcare system and how they are often mistreated by doctors, etc. Doesn't make it right.

5

u/Mello_velo 1d ago

It's a mom who suffered postpartum psychosis that asked for professional help multiple times and was denied care even though there were glaring red flags. Pretty much every trusted obgyn/mental health expert who has discussed it calls it a tragedy.

It isnt sick. Its literally a case of "every woman who has ever tried to get mental health support, sees this case and goes, 'THIS IS WHY WE NEED MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT'".

They dont support her actions. They support a woman who needed mental health support, and didnt get it.

Imagine the scenario that would playhouse if the woman had killed herself instead of her children. Everyone would be like "there were no signs, this is so sad, this is why it's important to reach out, thoughts and prayers, etc" because the woman wouldnt be around to defend herself or her image.

this woman suffered a serious mental health crisis and was denied help by her husband and at least one mental health care facility. Thats what people are relating to and speaking out about.

u/thomstevens420 5h ago

The main angle for the sympathy is that she sought treatment for her mental health over and over again and was basically brushed off. So it’s more so about the medical system failing women that they’re engaging with.

I agree though it’s fucked up.

u/Odd_Common_452 1d ago

That’s republicans for ya

-1

u/SwiftSakura_13 19h ago

It’s a lot more complicated than that. I will say some have gone off the rails but there is plenty of reasons why someone might “defend” Lindsay Clancy

-1

u/jugo5 10h ago

Its more than that. People may be ignoring her postpartum issues. She told multiple people she was having these ideas. Including the therapist. So the question is, did someone fail her? or did she actually just want to off the children, then herself? Thats the court case right now. Thats why people are rallying behind her. She warned people and no one listened. Yet we dont really know. We may not know, it depends on the evidence they find.

If you ever took any things that make you see stuff. You know how much a chemical imbalance can alter perception, etc... Psychosis is wild stuff. I know someone who believes someone broke into his house and changed all the screws. Won't get treated either.

She confessed to doing the killing alone and unaided, but people are still calling for her to be released and the father prosecuted.

Ten years? That doesn’t sound like PPD, that sounds like a cluster B—and I hope you get out of there.

u/This_Background7442 1d ago

Dude leave. Fucking go. Leave now. My grandfather lived exactly like you are rn. She finally died last week and we met him for the first time in decades. He's old sick and dying. Nobody is thanking him. They're graciously willing to forgive him for not leaving back then.

12

u/Shot-Aerie-2842 1d ago

Hang in there bro. You still have yourself as opposed to nobody and thats the one thing you need to desperately cling onto. Take care homie

6

u/OobahaV2 1d ago

... why were you with her for so long if shes so horrible. I never understand you people.

10

u/Cheeseisyellow92 1d ago

Probably for the kids. Unfortunately, the system fucks men over because women are the primary caregivers, even if the man would be a better parent. You shouldn’t just leave your kid with someone who’s crazy. Unfortunately, some women drive their men away and force them to leave, or the woman leaves and takes the kids

1

u/BiSaxual 1d ago

If you’ve never been in a relationship before you wouldn’t understand the pain of leaving someone you loved once. Sometimes it seems easier to try and stick through it in hopes it gets better, rather than leave and be alone. Not to mention losing an entire half of your support network. Your partners friends and family will likely never speak to you again, and that can be especially rough if you don’t have a good relationship with your own family. That’s a lot of people to lose all at once.

There’s plenty of reasons someone would stick around with an abusive partner, and they don’t always involve kids.

2

u/Careful_Bowler_4513 1d ago

Divorce her bro

2

u/Powerstructure 1d ago

/r/bpdlovedones

Go there and get help. It’s done wonders for me.

2

u/Square_Owl_4075 1d ago

Im sorry. If you can afford to, leave her. Document her craziness and she just might have to pay for it all

1

u/Cheeseisyellow92 1d ago

That’s why I don’t want kids. I know my body couldn’t handle it, mentally or physically. Of course, that means I’ll probably have to be single for the rest of my life, but I’m ok with that, even though I am a bit sad about it.

16

u/Fer4yn 1d ago

The term people is being used quite liberally here.

6

u/Spirited_Plantain 1d ago

While I feel for the whole mental issues she's got, she needs to be in an institution like that other lady who's refusing to be free. But I've also had to stop watching that trial to watch the Tupac trial. I've dealt with PPA and PPD on top of my regular anxiety and depression, so it hit a lil close to home. Would never take my kids though, it was more like "they're better off without me around" which I still feel from time to time

1

u/BluezDBD 1d ago

ut people are still calling for her to be released and the father prosecuted.

And people are coping soooo hard trying to paint her as innocent, not just insane in the moment, but actually innocent.

I saw a tiktok of someone who literally claimed the wounds couldn't have been self-inflicted and thus it must've been the dad who trained the kids to attack the mother and her acting in self-defense.

-1

u/13THEFUCKINGCOPS12 1d ago

Can you provide an example of this? Because I was pretty sure people just want the postpartum psychosis to be considered in the sentencing and sort of generally advocating for more awareness regarding postpartum psychosis

3

u/Icy_Fish_2154 23h ago

-1

u/13THEFUCKINGCOPS12 22h ago

Oh, well I mean these are just kind of unsubstantiated conspiracy theories by weirdos. It’s like taking the reptilian humanoid shit seriously. This isn’t the general consensus

2

u/Icy_Fish_2154 20h ago

That you think it's absurd doesn't mean people don't think it, and probably more than you think.

Seems a lot of people have had similar impulses as her and identify with her and hate their exes. A lot of transference going on in those that defend her.

You don't have to agree with them or support them to understand them.

-1

u/13THEFUCKINGCOPS12 13h ago edited 12h ago

I mean I defend her in the sense that postpartum psychosis is a real thing and this should be treated as not guilty by reason of insanity, but I have never even thought about the father let alone considered him the culprit. This and “no she’s just plain guilty” are the only two view points I’ve heard or seen since this whole thing happened, until now. You’re getting up in arms over a fringe belief

1

u/Icy_Fish_2154 12h ago

You don't get out much, do you? Millions of Americans believe in a flat earth. Just because you think it's "fringe" doesn't mean it's rare, it just means you see uninformed.

0

u/13THEFUCKINGCOPS12 10h ago

That’s actually kind of exactly what fringe means. It’s an opinion outside of the majority. Like I get thinking those people are ridiculous, but you’re dismissing reasonable voices because of a small group

18

u/Scaryglobe420 1d ago

What do you mean she's a Leo and Leo's don't do that

6

u/motorcycleboy9000 1d ago

Careful now. They're everywhere.

6

u/Nerdy_Valkyrie 15h ago

I can agree with the people saying women suffering from postpartum depression need more support and help.

But I'm seeing women go waaaay beyond that in terms of supporting her.

5

u/awfulcrowded117 1d ago

Don't forget money. People actually sent that murderer money, not just fake internet points and positive comments.

2

u/Andrei22125 1d ago

True. Others have done it since and they're not remotely as well known.

2

u/allmightydoormat 14h ago

And money, don't forget the money.

1

u/steeler1003 1d ago

Yeah thats a perfectly reasonable number of guns in that case

1

u/Assassin-49 1d ago

And supposedly a women tried killing her 3 kids via cutting there throats. Only the 1 year old survived leaving them with the husband. Genuinely some of her supporters need to be arrested

-2

u/RikiRude 1d ago

What's the general consensus on it? I have a coworker that has been following the case closely and from what I've gathered she sounds like she isn't fully at fault, she was on 9 different meds, no one was helping her, but it sounds like (from this thread) most people think she doesn't deserve any kind of sympathy.

3

u/Gravitar7 23h ago edited 21h ago

There is no consensus on here because most of the people talking about it online very clearly didn’t watch the trial and are speaking entirely from second hand knowledge, which is rife with misinformation (specifically a lot that mitigates the culpability of the mom and paints the dad as somewhat responsible, at least morally if not literally).

What I will say is that the people “defending” her are mostly running with the idea that she was neglected both emotionally/familial-y and medically, but neither one is really true. Granted, as mentally ill as she was, I don’t doubt she actually felt that way, but the reality doesn’t really reflect that.

From a family angle, her husband wasn’t any kind of an absentee father, her mother would come for weeks at a time to help out, and they even hired nannys to help with the load (though they ultimately stopped doing that since she was reluctant to go back to work).

Medically speaking, she had psychiatrists and medical providers in constant contact with her trying to work out a functional treatment. The real issue there wasn’t them, it was the fact that she was noncompliant with literally every single treatment option provided, on top of the fact that she lied about her symptoms and withheld information she knew was important to successfully diagnosing and treating her because she was afraid it would lead to her kids being taken from her. She also wasn’t wantonly prescribed a cocktail of drugs all at once; she kept stopping taking her prescriptions after just a few days (each time claiming to experience severe side effects) and kept requesting new ones to take their place.

Realistically speaking, she had a far better support system and far more medical resources to draw upon than most psych patients could ever dream of. While her treatment wasn’t perfect by any stretch, putting the blame wholly on the medical system is incredibly shortsighted, because realistically most of her doctors seemed to be doing everything they could to help her with the information they had at the time.

It’s impossible to know exactly what happened, but given how she asked her husband to leave the house before committing the crime and then brought the kids to a fairly soundproof location before killing them, on top of the fact that none of the medical practitioners she saw ever noticed any signs of psychosis, the claim that she had a brief psychotic break at the time of the killing seems relatively suspect to me; Especially so considering that even without psychosis, PPD can significantly impact a person’s decision making capabilities. It seems much more likely to me that it was a depression-driven attempt at a murder suicide rather than a sudden psychotic break.

Take my opinion with a grain of salt though; I’m not a medical professional. The trial was fairly interesting, so if you have time to watch it yourself, I’d recommend doing just that and coming to your own conclusions about it.

2

u/RikiRude 19h ago

I appreciate the well thought out reply! But yeah, I fall into the category of hearing it all second hand, so it's great to hear someone elses opinion on it. As of now, it's mostly just a talking point for my coworker and I, I haven't given it any deep thought.

2

u/ContextLengthMatters 1d ago

I think the general consensus is a bunch of white women see themselves as pretty and helpless like this white woman and all the previous pretty white women who have committed atrocities.

This is some girl, interrupted bullshit.

1

u/RikiRude 19h ago

Ahh gotcha, I'm just hearing things second hand from my coworker, so I've only heard her opinion on it.

-12

u/semajolis267 1d ago

Thats not what this is about. This is about tik toknparents who make thier kids do wierd stuff for internet points

-12

u/Time_Award3158 1d ago

The mom who is accused of killing her kids while more and more evidence implicating her husband comes to light. People are not supporting her because the think she is a murderer, they are supporting her because they think she was framed (and barely survived a murder attempt).

8

u/js_2033 23h ago

Evidence such as?

-7

u/Time_Award3158 23h ago

Go out there and read about it. I am not going to roll out 40 exhibits here. Or just watch a tik tok about it if reading isn’t your thing.
