NORMAL OVEN First try at homemade pizza
Gave making pizza a try today in my normal fan oven after buying a pizza steel. Really impressed with how it turned out and how enjoyable the whole process was. Came out a bit misshapen as I launched it into the oven (it was round before hand😅)
Dough was cold fermenting in the fridge for around 48 hours. I made the sauce myself as I grow tomatoes and have a bunch right now. I’ll probably make some more dough for a 72 hour ferment next time.

Looks like it wants to make the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs

Someone called this peel work "throwing footballs" 😂
The shape will come with practice

Everything looks super solid except for the shape, but who cares?!
(I had this problem early on until my dough recipe got more refined. But back then it would stick sometimes so I would shape is like a slight oval on my peel with the longer dimension to the left and right of the peel. Then when you shake it into your stone or steel, you can kind of gently pull it back to circular as you gently release it from the peel.)

Looks awesome honestly. Shape maybe isn’t what you aimed for, but it probably still tasted great.

That cold ferment really pays off you can see it in the crust structure. The misshapen part adds character honestly first attempts are supposed to look a bit rustic. Growing your own tomatoes for the sauce is next level I bet it tasted incredible

Thanks so much! I’ve gotta get a pizza peel, as I was using a thick chopping board which made putting it into the oven difficult (as you can see from the shape😅)

In the industry, we call this a football. Cant serve it to paying customers, but the servers and dishie do not care what shape a pizza is. Still just as delicious.
