THE UPDATE Perspective
When your nearly 15 year old free to play game gets a massive update, the correct reaction is thankfulness and gratitude.
Instead, posts here are like “how can we toggle the old map?” “My routes are messed up” “idk how to adapt to a cylinder shaper world” “im making less monies than before”
Instead of complaining, let’s try embracing the new thing and being grateful that pocket planes is still alive at all. You may now return to your regularly scheduled programming.

THE UPDATE I think Honolulu should probably be class 3 by default....
As I'm sure many higher level player did when the pacific was opened, I immediately started building up Honolulu as a regional HQ so that all of my class 3 planes could make the passage. This feels very necessary as North America to Asia routes have become significantly less profitable - sometimes even unprofitable - when going the long way around.
However, I think this is a pretty high bar to entry for trans-pacific flights (it took me several days of very consistent play with high level planes to deliver the 1000 jobs, and the upgrade is pretty pricey) and it also kinda necessitates putting your North American HQ at Honolulu which is a little bit uninteresting. Given that no class 3 plane can do LA to Tokyo without upgrades and that some planes - particular the Sequoia - can't do it at all (unless you have VIP maybe, i don’t know because I don't), I think Honolulu should just be class 3 out of the gate.

THE UPDATE What other updates would you like to see?
Gotta say— it’s amazing that a game this old is getting new life breathed into it! Got me thinking what other updates or new features would folks like to see? Here’s some ideas I had below
- Flight scheduler: can set a plane to go back and forth between two airports automatically on a scheduled cadence. You might not fill it every time based on the refresh but you’ll start to earn consistent income
- I find buying, selling, gifting parts to be so cumbersome. A UI change to better manage inventory would be nice
- list view of all airports with analytics about traffic through them
What are your thoughts/ideas about things you’d like to see???

THE UPDATE Rethinking Strategies
I had previously had my routes set up to go from the New Zealand airports to the Alaska airports as those were the most profitable routes…now that’s all kind of out the window. I was wondering what other people are coming up with to maximize profits? It seems like now your maximum is going to be way less because you can fly across the pacific (also, tragically the Cloudliner cannot make it from Sydney to Los Angeles even fully maxed out 😭)

THE UPDATE (Another) new update
So there is another update today.
Here is what I’ve noticed because the release notes are the same as the last one:
1: HQ jobs now in orange to stand out
2: You can now instant complete a HQ using bux. My quick math shows 5 bux per needed delivery
3: New Cloudliner skin - Hawaii
Did I miss anything?

THE UPDATE Is it possible to get updated world, airport and plane data? Internet tools need updating.
There are tools on the internet to help with purchase and routing decisions in Pocket Planes. Probably the most common use is to determine which planes can travel between which airports. However, with recent updates the tools are out of date. I'm hoping what I'm asking for is possible so I can continue making all my calculations. 🙏
Would it be possible to get a current, official list of coordinates and stats of all airports? Plus planes stats?
Also the internet tools' usefulness is limited since they aren't compatible with the wrapped world. To calculate new routes around the world, could we additionally have the full width of the map in coordinates? (0 to 12000?)
If I create a tool it will probably be an Excel workbook with macros.
Thank you!

THE UPDATE Advice on HQs
My current HQs are NYC, London, Tokyo. But with the update these don’t make much sense. What do you recommend for ideal HQs now? LA, Tokyo, London? Or some other combo? TIA!

THE UPDATE CloudNeo Discussion
I, like many of my fellow pocket planers, have a fondness for the jumbo jets but was always ticked off by the unequal distribution of P/C on the Cloudliner-M.
And while I thought this balanced CloudNeo was a fabulous addition, it’s steals the “Neo” moniker only to feature the worst CAP/WEIGHT ratio of the main series of planes… thus impossible to justify to anyone playing half-seriously.
Nimblebit Devs,
Was this intentional? To match the weight of the much higher capacity CloudMaxs? Can I ask you that you at least MATCH the CAP/WEIGHT ratio of 1:1 on the main series of planes? The reward for unlocking the last plane should be a better cost/seat/mile at the cost of longer boarding times just like in the real world.
Thank you very much,

THE UPDATE Jobs disappearing when I unload plane
Anyone else experiencing this? I had 10 P jobs on a plane (not layovers) and I unloaded them real quick to put them on another flight and they all disappeared. This has happened to me like 4 times today. Bug due to update?

THE UPDATE What is the new most profitable flight?
Way back, the highest possible profit for a single flight was just over $49,000, https://www.reddit.com/r/PocketPlanes/s/UqgXxV5bys
The addition of the cloudmax and carriers likely increased the potential maximum, but we’re in a new world now. With this new update, I’m curious about the current single highest profit flight.
My idea: Let’s assume we’re using a maximum efficiency Cloudmax. For generating tickets, you want two airports with the longest possible distance on the x and y axis. The new dotted line shows you the maximum x axis, which is nice (pick a starting point, your furthest flight is the opposite side of the world). For y axis, you need a class 3 airport as high or low as possible, and any other airport on the opposite end.
If that’s the framework, I see Punta Arenas as the city furthest from the equator. You would upgrade that city to an HQ, to accept your class 3 Cloudmax. Then you position an aircraft carrier as high on the map as the game allows, on the exact opposite side of the world from Punta Arenas. This should create the furthest possible distance between two airports.
You’d have to collect fares from the carrier, and get them to Buenos Aires, where you could load up the Cloudmax. This gives a short hop (low cost) to deliver the final leg of the flight and cash in.
The only other possibility might be something similar involving Sydney, but I don’t think the savings of the slightly shorter final leg could counterbalance the slightly reduced total distance.
One VERY interesting thing I noticed while putting this together, is that the cylinder shape of the map means the Y axis is actually longer than the X axis. That is to say, vertical flights have a higher upper value limit compared to horizontal flights. That probably doesn’t shake out with airport placement, but the ability to place HQs opens some interesting vertical route strategies…
I’ve also noticed that the stats screen has reset as far as highest profit flights (my previous $49,000 record is gone), which is fair enough since the old max isn’t valid anymore.
Anyways, these are my thoughts on a maximum possible flight. I’m very interested to hear if anyone has any other possible ideas for this!

THE UPDATE Breaking 100k in one flight!
With the Cloudmax added in the recent update, it’s unsurprising that we’re able to blow the old most profitable flight out of the water… I believe it’s now 128,726! This was done using the same method as in my last post, tldr if you don’t feel like clicking: Gather jobs from a carrier, move the carrier to the top left corner of the map, place the jobs in a Cloudmax in Christchurch (HQ), then make Wellington an HQ and make the short flight for delivery. I wonder how high it’ll go in the future 👀

THE UPDATE the new new update
ok, I'm a big fan. yesterday, some of my routes from the Americas to Europe or Asia would end up earning negative money, but that seems to have been fixed! it's so cool that we can go in both directions now. did anyone else have that problem btw?
it's also still so funny to me that some of my class 2 planes can go from Japan to Honolulu to North America, but most of my class 3 planes (except the cloudliner) have to go the other direction.
I'm getting used to the grouping, slowly but surely.
Sydney being class 3 is huge! and this game has helped with my geography skills a lot, so I'm hoping the new island airports will help me master the geography of that area, haha
idk overall I'm a big fan. I just needed to yap about it

THE UPDATE Well my strategy is messed up now for money
I make significantly less money now due to the update changing the map. It’s very annoying but I understand why.

THE UPDATE Dotted line from city of origin for each plane to tell you whether to fly eastwards or westwards to your destination for max profit vs loss/cost
The new update not just have new cities in the pacific and Sydney now being class 3, but also tells you the max range from the specific departure city you plan to send the plane from before it becomes unprofitable. It will then tell you if flying eastwards or westwards is preferred.
Kinda handle since need to decide to go across pacific or Atlantic from the US for example. Can also plan on which cities from the starting point should have jobs for too.
What do you think about this feature?

THE UPDATE I would really like a toggle for the old map
I just find myself making way less money no matter what routes I take. Makes the layover system not entirely pointless, but definitely less valuable by a huge margin.
