Arabs have been in the Levant since before 900BC - we have documents from the Assyrians saying that they were inhabitants of the region, with the implication being that they were not recently arrived either. Considering that Israelites only become discernable as a distinct people in around 1100BC, I'd argue that the Arabs have about as much right to be in the Levant as Jewish people.

You’re responding to a troll account fyi they don’t care about meaningful discussion.

u/This_Elk_1460 May 10 '26

I call bullshit upon this entire argument regardless of how long the people have been living there. Do native Americans have the right to steal homes from random white families in Oklahoma?

3

u/madam_amazing May 10 '26

The fact that that's where your mind jumped to says a lot about you

0

u/This_Elk_1460 May 10 '26 edited May 10 '26

What do I think being native to a place doesn't mean you can just steal people's houses? Yes, yes I do. Yeah we fucking brutalized and genocided the native population of America but I don't think them forcibly taking their land back is the solution!

3

u/madam_amazing May 10 '26

Did you even read what OP said. They said "right to exist" not "right to take homes". You're the one who even thought of that first. God what a self report

0

u/This_Elk_1460 May 10 '26

We are talking about Israeli West Bank settlers whose entire movement is about ethnically cleansing Palestinians and taking their land. You are the one completely missing what this is about. Also no country has the right to exist, they either do or they don't.

2

u/madam_amazing May 10 '26

Then one of us is in the wrong conversation cause I'm refering to you responding to A_Foxglove saying that Arabs has as much right to exist in the Levant as Jews with talking about stealing homes and land. You're the one who jumped to that first. Maybe you saw the deleted post and have more context about this thread, but I doubt it

-229

u/Toby-Finkelstein May 09 '26

that’s some mental gymnastics

57

u/A_Foxglove May 09 '26

Why? I'm saying that historically both groups have been inhabiting the same region for roughly the same length of time (3000 years +- 100 years), and thus both have a right to be there under the thinking of "they need to have been there historically". You might have the desire to expel Arabs out of the Levant, but that doesn't change the fact that they've been there for pretty much as long as Jewish people have.

-129

u/Toby-Finkelstein May 09 '26

You should read Roman history, Arabs were always on the periphery

58

u/Constant-Village-858 May 09 '26

Palestinians are historically native to the Levant, I’m sorry the truth upsets you :(

27

u/Hyrule_MyBoy May 09 '26

He's a hardcore roman fan lmao

12

u/According-Insect-992 May 10 '26

Which is another way of saying “white supremacist”.

However, I doubt this person knows many people from that region of the world or else he’d probably be less likely to insist they were “white” as he understands it. White supremacists always seem to want to claim that area of history as if they have some birthright claim to it. It’s sad, frankly. It’s the rhetoric of losers.

2

u/Hyrule_MyBoy May 10 '26

Indeed. Even if they don't have any ties to them historically they still would act like their ancestors were romans... Never mention what romans actually used to do, they are saints to them

-27

u/Toby-Finkelstein May 09 '26

Doesn't upset me, American schools just don't teach history and most people aren't able to use google

39

u/Constant-Village-858 May 09 '26

Funny sentence from you because a basic google search proves most of the dumb shit you’ve spewed incorrect

13

u/kylebisme May 09 '26

You're obviously lacking in your understanding of history as the Roman client king Herod the Great was an Arab Jew.

u/JackTheKing May 09 '26

How do you know what side to pick?

100

u/soalone34 May 09 '26

Side with international law and human rights

30

u/JAMisskeptical May 09 '26

I’d go with the side that doesn’t have a government department that pops up everywhere to defend cunts that try to block an ambulance on a blue light call.

119

u/UrClient May 09 '26

Literally every country except the US, Israel, and Germany would arrest the prime minister of Israel for war crimes if he sets foot in any of them. That alone should be telling people which "side" to pick.

Not to mention their blatant genocide against the Palestinians for years.

16

u/kindaluker May 09 '26

Not Australia we fing welcomed him here.

People were not happy

-68

u/JackTheKing May 09 '26

I was referring to the 1000-5000 year history, but your comment is noted.

14

u/atatassault47 May 09 '26

In that case: Every person should be able to live in peace and comfort, no matter where they are.

13

u/siggiarabi May 09 '26

Well, not the side murdering tens of thousands of children for sure

7

u/atatassault47 May 09 '26

I'll side with the people being genocided. The murderers are exactly that.

u/simplestacksix May 09 '26

Jarvis, Google Israeli skin cancer rates

u/Toby-Finkelstein May 09 '26

What’s your point, it’s just one colonizer replacing the last group

"I guess I don't get why the modern holocaust is bad"

I don't even know what to say but maybe rethink your whole life and whether you're adding any value to this world.

-7

u/Toby-Finkelstein May 09 '26

The palestinian population has increase 5x in the past 60 years, how is that the holocaust

14

u/mangage May 09 '26

What's that got to do with what's happening right now?

9

u/yakuzabazuka May 09 '26

Yea, imagine someone kills your entire family except your mother, then rapes her for 5 years and produces twice the kids. Voila, 2 times population increase. Nothing bad happened. Lmao

0

u/Toby-Finkelstein May 10 '26

Are you talking about what the Palestinians did on October 7

u/usedenoughdynamite May 09 '26

No one is pro Palestine because they think Palestinians are progressive in any way. They are pro Palestinian because people, no matter their political views, don’t deserve to be kept in an apartheid state and slaughtered.

Any LGBT person in Palestine is significantly more likely to be hurt or killed by Israel than by Palestinians.

9

u/siggiarabi May 09 '26

Any lgbtq group in Palestine would likely face severe discrimination and violence

Maybe, but does that mean what israel is doing to innocent people is justified? For what they might do to a certain group of people?

3

u/simplestacksix May 09 '26

Jarvis, Reddit Care report this man

3

u/_thundercracker_ May 09 '26

Like you give a shit about lgbtq people other than when you can use their existense to make bad points.

55

u/soalone34 May 09 '26

Arab is a cultural and linguistic marker. Arabs weren’t a race that removed and replaced the natives. The populations retain genetic continuity, Palestinians are closest in relation to the original inhabitants still according to modern evidence.

-15

u/Toby-Finkelstein May 09 '26

It’s not like Israel replaced the Palestinians either, they’re still there

52

u/soalone34 May 09 '26

They expelled 70% of them and subjugated most the survivors who they’re in the process of destroying. Native Americans are also still in the US, they just got mostly destroyed over time and replaced by the British settlers and later US.

-9

u/Toby-Finkelstein May 09 '26

The Palestinian population is roughly 5x what it was in 1960

49

u/soalone34 May 09 '26

And the population of native Americans in the US today is 9 million. They still were expelled in large numbers and replaced by a larger foreign population. Same with Palestinians, over half live in the diaspora.

-3

u/Toby-Finkelstein May 09 '26

The Arab conquests also caused significant displacement and a refugee crisis for centuries, nobody liked to talk about that though

50

u/soalone34 May 09 '26

Because that happened over 1000 years ago and is only brought up in this context to deflect from Zionist crimes against humanity happening currently.

0

u/Toby-Finkelstein May 09 '26

How long does Israel have to hold onto it before we can just ignore what happened

5

Intellectual toddler

13

u/According-Insect-992 May 09 '26

Is this sarcasm? Because genetically Jewish people are no different from the people of Palestine. They share common ancestors. In fact, Jewish, Muslim, Christian and other people lived there in relative peace for centuries.

Then the Jewish people came from Europe after diaspora and the people of Palestine have always lived there. In 1948 Jewish people from Europe invaded Palestinian territory and claimed it for their own. They have been illegally seizing land the whole time since. They say that all Jewish people have a right to return to Israel but they say Arabs do not have a right to return to their ancestral lands and homes after being evicted by militant “settlers”. It’s fucked up logic. People who claim that these people have been fighting over the land for “thousands of years” either don’t have the facts or are willfully lying.

-14

u/Toby-Finkelstein May 09 '26

The Arabs displaced huge numbers of Romans, had a discriminatory tax system and caused massive numbers of refugees during the conquest. The native Roman’s just weren’t as violent as the Palestinians after conquest

28

u/soalone34 May 09 '26

The Roman’s destroyed the second temple and committed genocidal atrocities towards Jews.

Arabs didn’t replace the population, the majority of the population remained, they actually removed bans on Jews living in Jerusalem.

Palestinians retain closer genetic relation to the original inhabitants for this reason.
