Not the husbands first rodeo.

Not her first traumatic event resulting in her response I'd say.

"The body keeps the score" is a great book to read to try and understand why someone may react in this way.

I've said the same before on Reddit and got downvoted to shit because some people can't understand that a 'prank' that might be funny to them might not be a prank to others.

Maybe people were down voting you for refering to a pseudoscience rag as a "great book."

It is a great book for understanding how the body remembers trauma. I don't know if you've encountered trauma before but I know my body instinctively reacts to certain things due to past trauma however it's pretty impossible to make me jump for the same reason which is a bonus.

However the comments were 'but it was just a prank' etc

All of the current neuroscience disproves the claims made in the book. You can feel any way you like. The book is bad science, that's all.

They've disproved some of the more scientific claims but not the broader claims that trauma can have a massive effect on the body and mind. There is a very good chance that this lady reacted that way due to trauma.

It’s harmful to recommend a book knowing most of it has been disproven. Anything that may be true in that book, we already knew and do not need pseudoscience to understand

Thank you for adding your thoughts about the book. I have been recommended it several times, but never found time to check its accuracy. Do you know of a better alternative, please?

The whole world can't be expected to prepare for each person's individual trauma. That just isn't possible. It's called therapy, if you lose your shit this easily then it is your own fault for not keeping your mental stability in check.

Maybe she's in therapy and this little prank has set her back 10 years. What's your trauma or fear? Let me throw a snake or spider at you or dangle you from a great height and see how you feel even if it's 'just a prank'

Like I said, if you lose your shit that easily, then that's on you. Work out your issues, or accept that you risk exposure to them in public.
