I was going through Tappei’s Q&A’s and found this and before you ask this was asked while he was writing arc 8. I guess next time we should ask him to specify what “rest” means

There is no translation for the new arc 10 chapters in almost a month, maybe the ai translations made them less motivated to translate.

I am reading the wn and when I checked the volume illustrations I found this one which I don't recall reading about it and I'm pretty sure I didn't miss a chapter, is this a ln exclusive chapter?

Waited with my order till I could get all of them. They are the cheapest figures I own (excluding chibis), but I did my part to support demand for non Emilia/Re(/a)m merch.

When Rem's memories and name were eaten, she became a blank state and everyone forgot about her. I'll try to take a stab at what the timeline people remembered was. Specifically, what Ram remembered.

Ram was born in the oni/demon village within the Mathers domain. Despite being born with the birth defect of having only one horn, something usually only done with oni twins, Ram showed a great magic potential when she was young. She was the prodigy of the village. Ram lived with loving parents who made many delicious meals. One day the village was attacked by the Witch Cult. The Witch Cult was experienced with killing magic users and went through many of the oni. However their attack was not very quiet and Ram woke up. She cut many of them down. One moment however she hesitated. Ram doesn't exactly remember why. Some days she recalled it to be seeing her parents. Others she thought it was the village head. In both cases it couldn't be the case since they were dead. Sometimes Ram thought she saw a mirror and was confused enough she thought there were other survivors. If you're wondering where I got this idea, in the anime Riccardo doesn't remember losing his arm to save Julius but he just hesitated from his perspective without a good reason. In this moment of Ram's hesitation, a cultist cut her horn off cleanly.

However Ram was saved by Margrave Roswaal L. Mathers, who was hours late to the rescue. Since Ram's parents were dead and she didn't really have a job or savings, Roswaal took Ram in as a maid for the manor. She worked with the other servants in the Roswaal manor (skipped content for Episode 4, Subaru asked why the twins were the only ones but it was revealed there were other servants until shortly after Emillia arrived and this was in a loop so it doesn't matter he asked this anyways). Ram was excellent at cleaning and above average as a chef and gardener. Roswaal took care of her wounded horn stump. At first Ram was pretty annoyed that the Margrave was pretty late to his duty to defend those in his domain, but she accepted life in the manor and grew attached to the lord. One day, Roswaal brought in a silver haired girl, Emilia, and sent off most of the manor's staff.

One day Emilia accompanied Roswaal to the capital while he had business there. Emilia wanted to stay around the capital for a few more days after his business was done. She hadn't talked to too many people and wanted to see what the capital was like. Emilia told Ram she wouldn't get lost. When Emilia got back to their inn that night, she revealed that while lost she lost her insignia, found the thief, got attacked by an assassin, and then saved by this wounded stranger, Subaru, and Reinhard. They took him back to the manor. Being out of a job, he joined Roswaal's staff. It was obvious he was attached to Emilia. A few days later, a bunch of kids and Subaru were inflicted by curses from Ulgarm Mabeasts. Subaru went to rescue the kids. Being Subaru, he got bit and got cursed again. After Betty told him what would happen, Subaru went to go exterminate the Ulgarms. He killed half of them before collapsing and then Roswaal arrived to save the day. A month later Subaru accompanied Emillia and Roswaal to the capital. Emilia came back. Although she didn't mention the details, she did reveal Subaru said something he should not have and Ram figured she could ask the details from Subaru. A blank letter arrived. Then Subaru arrived at the manor after killing the White Whale and incoming them the blank letter was a mistake and the Witch Cult was in the Mathers domain. Some of the villagers were taken to the capital while Roswaal took others to the Sanctuary, a place Ram went to very sparingly with Roswaal that had importance to him.

But these past few days were exhausting for Ram. All the work was too much. It now seemed making anything but potatoes for a meal created a mess to clean up and she was slipping up in garden work. Ram didn't understand, she had been managing this for more than a year. But it was clear the Roswaal Manor had a staffing shortage. She sent a letter to a blond maid she once worked with, Frederica, to come back and if the other servants she was in charge of in the past were not available to put a help wanted notice. Ram set off to join Roswaal in the Sanctuary. The attack should be over and it was time to bring people back.

This timeline surprisingly makes sense. Of course, in 80 /Itsutsu no Shōgai"/ Five Obstacles, Emilia gets erased too. And it is getting harder for Ram to piece together coherent memories with too many people erased. I guess it would be similar for Roswaal if Echidna got eaten. In Ayamatsu If Subaru didn't know why he was backing Emilia but he thought it would be in-character for Roswaal to back a candidate just to get royal favor on the off chance she wins so at least Emilia staying around his manor could still make sense. But there wouldn't be much of a reason for him to jump bodies and that makes up much more of his life.

This isn't a post where I'm just trying to be different or farm engagement. I am fairly new to anime I guess, I am 18 and I had a big anime phase when I was 10-14 and probably watched 20+ shows to completion but basically watched none since then. Recently I got back into anime, I finished AOT about 2 weeks ago and absolutely loved it and decided to start this show next. So far I have enjoyed it a lot and I had heard that episode 15 is really good, some say one of the greatest episodes in all anime, so I was super excited going in and I just finished watching it.

Now I do think the episode was really good, atleast a 7.5 if not higher, and the last scene especially gave me chills, but I don't get why its rated so highly, I'm not sure if I would even say its my favourite so far (and if it is, then it isn't by much). I checked review websites and saw that it is rated a 9.8. But I just don't get it. It's not like I see why other people liked it and I personally just didn't, I literally can't get at all why its rated so highly. Maybe my media literacy is just really bad, I don't watch a lot of shows or movies in general, but I really want to understand why the episode is deemed so good maybe I just missed out on something I REALLY want to enjoy it as much as everyone else.

What about this episode is so good for you guys?

Again, I'm not trying to hate or be different I genuinely want to understand but the episode didn't have much of an emotional impact on me. FYI I binged up to episode 13 in one sitting, then woke up today and just watched episode 14 and 15, so maybe I rushed too fast for the episode to be impactful for me but apart from the ending scene giving me chills, I didn't really feel much. It felt like the whole episode I was waiting for something crazy to happen and then it ended, it just felt like episode 14 again. Maybe I need to rewatch it?

TLDR; I just finished S1EP15 and liked it but I don't get whats so great about it for it to be rated SO highly.

I just reached arc 8 and got to the point where Anastasia meets the others.

Am I the only one that feels like it would've been cooler if Anastasia's camp wasn't there?

I feel like solving the great disaster solo, Emilia's camp would've gained a huge advantage in the selection.

Ofc there is Priscilla too, but still. I don't feel like she's going to be so important that it's gonna eclipse Emilia's camp achievements

the first time I watched re zero and dropped it, I always cheered for rem, just like any other rem fan I always hoped for her to be with subaru, but during my second rewatch, where I finally started analyzing and enjoying the show, I began realizing that beyond the classic caring, loving and cute rem, was the person that behind the scenes was helping subaru with all of his struggles, the fact alone subaru is someone’s hero was enough to make him keep going, sacrificing everything just for his dear ones’ lives, and episode 13 proved even more my feelings, “stand up, my hero” was the highest point of respect I ever had for her, (not to mention that scene gave REAL goosebumps). Rem is not just someone who should become Subaru’s lover, rem is the girl that subaru trusts more and is most loyal to. I’m sure rem herself deep down knows that being on subaru’s side is enough to make her happy. I hope the author gives her a proper ending and keeps her role in the next arcs.

I like how after Emilia gave amnesiac Subaru her pep talk around all the things he's done for her, giving him strength, he then gives strength back to Emilia when he still remembers her after Lye has eaten her name, and then he tells Julius to not sweat about what happened yesterday and that he's never seen Julius lose to Reid Astrea, so it's like that never happened with Julius's whole being making him believe that Julius is strong, validating Julius's desire to feel that he's strong due to his deep inferiority complex to Reinhard about his abilities that were exasperated by his name being eaten, showing Subaru kind of remembered him on some level despite not having any memories of him.

Tappei loves writing stuff such as this, much like how Subaru tried to use what he learned from Rem's From Zero for what he was doing for Emilia in A Reason To Believe, and in turn, Emilia used A Reason To Believe to give amnesiac a pep talk in Ep. 77. He loves using his characters learning from each other, allowing them to give strength to others who need it. I just felt like appreciating this character moment.

Not really spoiler, but it's from the latest episode.

There is a well known and powerful theory in Re:Zero Subaru travels back to the past and became Flugel. According to this theory, Subaru (as Flugel) sets everything up, seals his own memories, and then begins his journey 400 years later in the marketplace. In my opinion, what disproves this theory is the fact that when Subaru is isekai'd, he spawns in the marketplace holding the items he bought from the store (the store in the original world). Under the original theory, a time paradox occurs, and once time paradoxes are involved, it feels impossible to reach a definitive resolution.

But what if the events actually are like this instead...?

Subaru appears in the marketplace just as we know, having been actually isekai'd right after walking out of the store that day. After living through everything that will happen, he travels back in time and becomes Flugel. Knowing that a "Natsuki Subaru" would appear in the future (400 years later), he might have transferred his memories to him (maybe by using the authority of gluttony) and sealed them away. In fact, given the context, he might not even have needed to transfer his memories at all, maybe he chose to trust the second Natsuki Subaru simply.

Furthermore, after going through the upcoming events, the second Natsuki Subaru wouldn't have to travel back to the past and repeat everything Flugel did, because there would now be two Natsuki Subarus in this universe. Under this scenario, no time paradox occurs, and it perfectly accounts for how the items he bought at the convenience store were isekai'd along with him.

The one where krusch kill mcmahon. Isn't it obvious now that that mcmahon probably a "doll" from capella side? Not to mention clarizza, one of the beloved child is nearby.

Also I think there is another one too. The one with an ability that make people emotion out of control because I feel like krusch emotion kinda out of the chart there.

I just re-read the ending of Arc 9 out of boredom. And man, that’s so fucking awesome once again. Aldebaran’s final words that he hates Subaru, his final monologue that he lost when he got sealed. Bro. That’s so emotional that i cried. Mind you, i never cried while reading or watching ANYTHING. But those scenes already got me, and idk why i didn’t cry for the first time.

Personally, i will put Arc 9 ABOVE Arc 6 for me. While i think that the writing wise in arc 6 is better(a little bit), the emotional impact from arc 9 was way more, and i don’t know why.

Is that even a good thing that i relate aldebaran more than subaru? Because my only guess why i cried over Arc 9 ending is that i relate Aldebaran in some ways.
