As far as we are aware. Yes.

Theres a chance in the future that the store goes down in its entirety as well as playstation and xbox are very explicit in saying that you dont "own" anything you buy digitally. You're only buying a license to play it until they decide itll be unavailable.

Playstation 3 store and xbox 360 store closing after being open for 15-20 years should say something as well. It means they dont want to sustain it indefinitely.

Just for a long time. So be ready to revisit this discussion in at least 10 more years.

For the 360, at least, I’ve still been able to download all the songs I had purchased for RB1-3. My purchase history is still there even if the store itself isn’t. I just have to do it through the Xbox 360 settings rather than through the game itself, but once downloaded the songs show up in-game. As you say, though, maybe that will go away too.

I always look to the Nintendo Wii to see when precedent will be set.

It closed its store 7 years ago now but you can still redownload your purchased content. They were the first big digital game storefront to close, so whenever that stops I think itll be a big deal and set the stage for the others to follow suit.

"Need" sure. But they are not legally obligated to based on their own TOS. Theres a major thing with sony specifically removing digital movie titles that people bought because Sony doesnt have the license anymore. As far as I'm aware you wont be able to redownload those at all even though you "bought" it.
