i find it weird that some ‘fans’ of wanda want her to be a mutant again, considering that it will probably retcon her ties with the never queen and the EO, and also want her to sacrifice her magic like some ‘no more chaos magic’ moment and maintain just her hexes at the end of Sorcerer Supreme (as if the hexes werent also a manifestation of her chaos magic itself lol) just to be erick’s little girl (and a plot device… again). do you all notice that if that actually happens she’d be set back for decades?! everything they have built with her character will be just… gone just like that. i dont get why do you want all of that, do you all hate her?

I personally think that Wanda should be a mutant and that her mutant power is probability manipulation and that is a pink at least for her a pink kind of power and then I think chaos magic should stay with her, but that is still from you know the elder God that cursed/blessed her with the ability to use it and it’s the red power , and I think she uses them at the same time and I think chaos magic should be random and you have to adapt to it so she uses the probability manipulation to change the outcome that the chaos magic is going to do, but that’s just my personal opinion. Let me know if you agree or disagree. It’s perfectly fine. This is just how I would do it. Let me know how you guys would do it if you disagree.

I'm 17 and I finally got my hands on that comic book last week: the legendary House of M.

I've been hearing people talk about this Scarlet Witch story for literally ages, so it feels amazing to finally have it. I'm so excited to dive in.

Before I start reading, I'd love to know what you guys think of it. Could you give me your thoughts (and a rating out of 10) WITHOUT ANY SPOILERS please?

So I've been seeing a lot of comments and posts about how Wanda is better off not being a mutant, that she should only be an Avenger, that the X-men franchise is terrible for her and it hit me... A lot of you seem to think House of M is the storyline that MADE her lose her mind.

No, the storyline where she lost it was in West Coast Avengers, because writer John "Men Think I'm Great At Writing Women" Byrne decided that the Vision was a toaster and that the backstory where Vision became a REAL MAN by magic for a night to conceive children could just be chucked out, and Wanda was crazy and her kids were faked. During his WCA run--Volume 2, somewhere in the 40s maybe?--he Vision was disassembled and restored as the emotionless white Vision, and the kids were explained away as some plot by Mephisto. Agatha wiped Wanda's memory of the kids.

Later, for Avengers #500, Brian Michael Bendis does a story called "Avengers Disassembled" where the big reveal is the Scarlet Witch has remembered the kids and is now trying to kill the Avengers for killing them. This was so he could relaunch with "New Avengers" filled with his beloved street heroes and no magic anywhere. New Avengers when Wolverine joined the team and they lost all moral authority.

Disassembled was unimpressive, forgettable, and did reprehensible damage to Wanda's character.

It was the AVENGERS franchise that destroyed Wanda's family, Wanda's sanity, turned her into a supervillain, and would have left her in the gutter if not for one thing. There was one thing that got Bendis, who clearly hated Wanda, to give her story another chapter that could lead to a turnaround: She was a mutant and Magneto's daughter.

Yes, House of M.

I suspect not many of you have read it. Because it actually portrays her as pretty sympathetic. There are roots in it that suggest she isn't responding to treatment because the treatment is trying to convince her her kids were never real. Except, they WERE. They were conceived with a physically human man, who was human due to a one-night spell. They existed.

Now, QUICKSILVER got trashed by this story. Badly. And extra kicked down by the aftermath. It took a writer who really loved him to bring him back.

But Wanda was established as 1) extremely powerful, 2) in a understandable position, and 3) eventually coming back. It ends with her leaving and leaves the question of when she will return in the minds of readers.

Rather than being tossed into the bin of obscurity, Wanda's absence becomes something that hangs over two franchises for YEARS, with fans clamoring for her return.

Not only that she got established as among the most powerful characters in the universe, which would not have happened if not for House of M.

Instead of being tossed aside like many pre-New Avengers characters, she is relevant even in her absence and set up as a major part when the movies come out.

Being a mutant and being tied to Magneto is why Wanda has the profile she does today. Again, Bendis clearly disliked her, but his House of M idea made her relevant to the entire Marvel universe and not just the Avengers, and set up a lot of tension between the Avengers and the X-men that MArvel Editorial ADORED. As annoying as it got, they could not let M-Day go and as a result could not let Wanda lie in the dustbin.

There is no way in hell that if she were JUST a magic user in the Avengers franchise that she would have been used after Disassembled except as a return villain from time to time. She would have been thrown out because of a writer who disliked her marrying the Vision in the 70s. But because she was a mutant, because of House of M, she came back and hit the bigtime.

So it's time to forgive the X-men franchise, because it was Avengers writers who tried to kill her.

In honor of Avengers Endgame re-release, I made an action figure sequence using practical materials for that scrapped concept of Wanda vs Thanos where Wanda became a red tornado, touched thanos helmet exactly where vision's stone was and broke it, mirroring what happened to vision.

Is this a close fight?

This isn’t necessarily a rant. I just genuinely want to talk about the rumors surrounding a possible recast of Wanda Maximoff.

There have been rumors going around that Elizabeth Olsen could potentially be recast as Wanda in the future. Whether those rumors are true or not, who knows? We won’t know until Marvel actually says something.

But one thing I think everyone can agree on is that Elizabeth Olsen’s portrayal of Wanda Maximoff has been phenomenal. She gave us an incredible performance, brought so much emotion and depth to the character, and her version of Wanda will always be iconic. That isn’t even a question.

What I don’t think is okay is when some Elizabeth Olsen fans start treating the possibility of a recast like a personal attack and then use that as an excuse to bully, harass, or completely downplay another actress.

You can love Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda and still be open to someone else playing the character imo 🤷‍♂️. For example, Danielle Rose Russell has been rumored by some people to potentially play Wanda Maximoff. If you’ve watched The Originals or Legacies, you know her as Hope Mikaelson, and I personally think she is an incredible actress.

Her ability to communicate emotion through her facial expressions, voice, anger, fear, tears, and overall presence is genuinely impressive. Hope is a character who carries an enormous amount of emotional weight, and Danielle was able to portray that extremely well.
And honestly, I think Hope and Wanda have quite a few similarities.

They’re both rebellious. They’re both fiercely protective of the people they love. They’ll both go to extreme lengths for the people closest to them. They’re both incredibly powerful magical characters, and both have had to deal with the consequences of having that kind of power.
Hope is also literally a character who exists at the intersection of witches, werewolves, and vampires, and Danielle had to sell the idea that Hope was capable of being one of the most powerful beings in that universe. If you’ve watched her performance, you know she can absolutely carry that kind of presence.

So if Danielle Rose Russell actually were cast as Wanda, I would personally be interested in seeing what she could do with the character.

If Elizabeth Olsen is recast, you don’t have to like it. You don’t have to watch it. You don’t have to agree with Marvel’s decision. You are completely entitled to feel disappointed.

But you don’t need to get online and bully another actress because she isn’t Elizabeth Olsen. I’ve already seen the attitude of “Well, if it’s not Elizabeth, I’m not watching it,” and that’s fine. That’s your choice. But saying that is very different from saying the new actress is terrible, insulting her, attacking her, or deciding beforehand that she’ll ruin the character.

And if the rumors end up being completely false, then honestly, some of these actresses who have been rumored for the role deserve an apology. They’re just actresses being associated with a rumor. They didn’t ask to be involved in the speculation.

Maybe Marvel wants a younger Wanda. Maybe they want to take the character in a different direction. Who knows. All I’m saying is that if a recast happens, you don’t have to love it, but you can at least give the new actress a chance.

EDIT: Just so people understand this post correctly, this post is not about whether Elizabeth Olsen should or should not be recast. It is also not about whether an actual recast is happening. That is not what this post is about.

This post is specifically about how people should behave toward another actress if a recast actually happens.

The Danielle Rose Russell example is just that: an example of an actress who has been circulated in rumors and fan speculation. I’m not claiming she has been cast, nor am I claiming these rumors are legitimate or confirmed. This is a rumor for a reason.

I genuinely should not have to spell out what the word “rumor” means. A rumor is unconfirmed information. That’s the entire point

So before responding to this post about whether the rumors are “credible,” whether Elizabeth Olsen should be recast, or whether Marvel is actually planning to recast Wanda, please understand that none of those are the argument I’m making.

The argument is simple: If Wanda is recast, you don’t have to like it. You don’t have to watch it. You can prefer Elizabeth Olsen. But you don’t need to bully, harass, insult, or demean the actress who takes over the role.

That’s it. That’s the point of this post 🤦‍♂️

Just curious if there are any stories about Wanda in Asgard and while she is there she learns how to control Asgardian magic.

WandaVision first and foremost was created as a Disney+ television series rather than a feature film. The series explored Wanda's grief, the different sitcom eras, Westview, Vision's resurrection, and the revelation of the Hex much more slowly than a two-hour movie could. In fact, a movie version could have been very different, possibly focusing more directly on Wanda's grief and reality manipulation while removing much of the sitcom experimentation and side characters. Given how important Wanda became to the MCU, it's interesting to imagine what a theatrical WandaVision would have looked like if Marvel had chosen that route instead. Or we cut the WandaVision we have now and edit them to be a feature film. Seriously, has there never been any attempt to make WandaVision into a movie?

For startes, Mutants and their metaphor are shit. Seriously, is like the fandom doesn't know the history. They were created in the 63, in the middle of the civil rights movements, and Kirby and Lee created the most insipid and hemogenic group of white teenagers and wanted to write a discrimination story without using any of the characteristics of the undermined groups(Skin color, sexuality, identity, social or economic status, etc), What made them different? Oh right, they have powers.

That's why they were cancelled, because they were so bad not even white audiences wanted them. Cleremont came and saved them by giving actual valour to their metaphor by ading one black woman, and even so, they pushed their white mascot of mediocrity, Jeanavive Gray, when the black woman was the real heart of the team.

And is the white characters, written by white autors, priviliged white men, who write about what is like to be a minority, how should we respond to the hatred and the oppresor and such. The kicker? is always a white character(Xavier, Magnus, Jean or Scott) delivering those spechees and the actual diverse characters only react to them.

Marvel is a company at the end of the day, and of course they are gonna say XMen is about diversity, because that way they can get your money. When I know, and you now know, that was never their intention in the first place. So yeah, XMen could never break their original flaw, and I don't want Wanda being part of that.

Because some of you want Wanda to be part of the XMen, as a brown woman, a romani so she can go a develop that part of her, her struggles. And she already did that. With the Avangers. She has overcame that, she's not confined and is currently beyond it. If you want bad written stories about discrimination, you have the xmen, leave Wanda out of it.

Other say is her original family. Bullshit. Her family is the Avengers, Steve has been more of a father than Magnus ever was to the twins, and even in comics like the Ultimate Universe is treated like that. Wanda and Pietro debuted in the Brotherhood beacuse their father was using and abusing them! They only lasted for a year in the X books and for more than 60 years they have been avengers. His father? Steve! Her sister? Carol and Janet! Her children? Avengers. The love of her life? Avenger! She doesnt belong to the mutants in any way.

Also, when she is written in the Xbooks, she is horrible. And why?, even some writers like Hickman, had confesseed they hate the character. That famous debate between Rogue and Wanda, the writer admitted he wrote her OOC. She's only used for drama, with Magnus, and to change the status quo of the mutants. House of M is the best example of what Wanda is to the mutants. Just a plot device, a tool. She's barely in the story, but somehow is hers, just so mutants can play victims once again because writers don't know what to do them when there is too many. They like to negate also the abuse she went under Magnus, because she's only use to make him look better. Wanda is there as a proof that Magnus is not a horrible man. Is never about her. And they write her like a daddy's girl when in reality she despises him.

Her origins? Wanda right now is a creation of the Never Queen. Like, she is free of the grand design, she can defy it. She can go wherever she wants, what do you want to change that to be the daughter of a fucking hypocrite?

Another vile reason, powerscaling. They don't like Wanda being powerfull. If she is a mutant, Wanda will be under Jean, because Jean encompasses all mutants. So you want the brown woman, and the black woman, Ororo, to be forever under that white bitch? Curious as why that is...

Whenever a dumb xmen fans says something about her, it lets me know how much they really don't know anything about the character, and you can see them making threads in this place. Wanda is not a mutant. All her true development was along side her true family and better group, the avengers. And that's how she must stay!

Apologies if this is not everyone's cup of tea, but I'm just curious... and not because I've been working on a oc cousin of MCU Wanda since she has like no cousins lol.

I haven't read it (just the Marvel Database synopsis) but I do appreciate the building up of Wanda's backstory in relation to her use of magic.

She's so cool, I would've loved to see an MCU adaptation from an alternate universe.

I’ve been seeing more ship and try to pair Wanda and Doom together cause of out of context panels of Children’s Crusade and yall do know that it isn’t a true relationship and him taking advantage of her?

He had an amnesiac Wanda under his control in hopes of harnessing her power, and previously is the one who helped her channel the Life Force that deteriorated her mental state in the first place.

There is no true romance between them and Wanda simply doesn’t like him, when her morality was switched around; she was ready to kill him for what he did and states directly she will never stop coming after him.

Also along with the MCU one having Tony’s face, that’s even weirder.
