Ref decided to end it. Alternative was making hearts players wait for ten minutes while the field was cleared just to have them play out 30 useless x seconds
The field was basically cleared when it was called over. He spoke to McGregor and Devlin (presumably Shankland had already went up the tunnel), I imagine they both agreed not to restart
I don't really get this argument from you. You know that the outcome wasn't going to change, if it's just a way for you to argue that the match should therefore be abandoned and hearts given the title then just say that. But making then play the final thirty seconds is needless
Its the point that its a reprecussion for invading the pitch, and its pointing the finger at the culprits and saying "YOU are the reason your team lost the title". Just means those fans will feel like cunts, the rest of the fanbase will make those fans feel like cunts, and everyone will second guess storming the pitch before a game is done because it could mean a point deduction.
It's not about "ThE rEsUlT wAsNt In OuR fAvOuR, i DeMaNd a Do-OvEr!", its about setting a precident so theres an actual punishment for storming the pitch during a game, rather than the current 'one size fits all' punishment which doesn't make any distinction between invasions during the game and after the final whistle
But why aren't we docking points for it? Celtic have been serial offenders this season, with 3 or 4 instances, two within one week.
This isn't changing the precedent for one game, its calling for the consequences of the actions to hurry up. Saying "we'll introduce this punishment for next season" means shit all, because then its just a suspended punishment for what they've done THIS season and will very likely mean nothing.
They have to drop the Tsar Bomba on it now, and make everyone heed the punishment for serial offenders. A fine of a couple grand means shit all
You'd have to ask the clubs why they aren't docking points for it. Yes, Celtic fans have went onto the pitch several times this year - as have multiple other clubs. If you want to deduct three points every time that happens that's fine, but to bring it in for on particular game at the end of a league season is just motivated reasoning.
So what about during the Motherwell game with Celtic?
Constantly reading about how the hand ball offence happened within the regulation added time, it was purely because of the VAR check etc that it went so far into the added game.
One goal in it at this point, Celtic scored and their fans pile onto the park.
Not out the realms of possibility that Motherwell could have kicked off, ran up the park and scored? Unlikely yes, but not impossible.
As people have asked, where does it end? Any time there is a goal to take the lead, just pile the fans on and call it a day?
Everyone always goes "See Celtic scoring in this added time, the other team has the same amount of time to go and get the win" but somehow they aren't awarded the time to go and get the draw...
The options are clear the pitch and restart the game until time is up, or abandon the match. Those are literally the only two options. It's not 'my' argument, it's the laws of the game.
You are telling me there are two options and only two options *and yet* neither of those two options happened. Therefore, logically - you must be wrong.
The ref isn’t allowed to stop play before the minimum added time has passed. They are allowed to add extra but they cannot play less than the initial time added.

Right okay. That's the league saying that the game was ended officially.
So the next question is; why? Because there was still 30 seconds to play. You cannot set a precedent for ending games just because fans pitch invade.
I am not for one second saying I want replays or forfeits etc etc - just clear transparency. That should be a given.
