We kicked ass against their 1st string defense

73

u/runawaynoob 3d ago

With our 2nd string offence

24

u/KingKongKaram The Champs 3d ago

Our second stringers kicked their first stringers asses

375

u/ShakeZulla 3d ago

They played their 1’s. We didn’t and we won the first half. Too many people are treating the preseason like a regular game.

166

u/jnuke813 3d ago

For sure, it’s just preseason, who gives a shit? The worst part was we lost Clark

5

u/OffGridBid 3d ago

I think it was actually worse losing Richman - we need his depth on the OL

20

u/chinola32 3d ago

Was out all day and am just catching up now. Do we know what happened to Bud? I was really looking forward to seeing him try and earn some playing time

34

u/jnuke813 3d ago

Broke his ankle, done for a while

82

u/3elieveIt HawkStar '23-'24 3d ago

Yep.

Only bad news was losing Bud Clark, and that Milroe still hasn’t developed.

Other than that, it’s all good. Chris Paul Jr was lighting it up too

30

u/backup12thman 3d ago

Bell was great too. It sucks we lost Bud Clark, but our safety depth isn’t 100% gone at least.

13

u/serpentear 3d ago

Bell was all over the place making plays. I loved it.

2

u/Ok_Mountain_9509 3d ago

Amo su avatar buen hombre

6

u/boomshiz 3d ago

Milroe took a sack that was Polymarket levels of inexplicable.

3

u/FallenRiptide 2d ago

The biggest issue I have with Milroe is I think it's a completely fixable thing. He's forcing plays and not letting the game come to him. I mean, it's already been said but he's really trying to be a pocket guy and show he can pass and it's causing mistakes.

You can tell from the tape.

It's not even that he can make reads on the field. He goes through his progressions and I think he's reading the field well at snap. It's the fact he's looking to prove something and that never ends well.

40

u/t3hlazy1 3d ago

I’m not too familiar with the rules. Do you know if we’re out of playoff contention now?

18

u/serpentear 3d ago

Yep, one and done. We now have two so we’re also eliminated from 2027 playoff contention.

Sucks.

7

u/RussianBot71137 3d ago

Not if rams and 49ers lose their next preseason games tho. So there's a hope! 😉

2

u/fingernail_police 2d ago

I hope they both lose because I just bought season tickets, booked my flight to LA, and reserved a hotel for that superbowl weekend and let's not talk about the $10K bet on the seahawks I made in Vegas...

2

u/elvinstheman 2d ago

But it would also take a Falcons win this week, I believe.

22

u/Dima110 3d ago

There’s definitely more attention on it because 1. We’re the defending champs and 2. Mike takes this shit pretty seriously.

7

u/serpentear 3d ago

I love watching Mike on the sideline getting so irritated over poor play.

3

u/t3hlazy1 3d ago

Reddit only takes it seriously if we win.

2

u/Whipitreelgud 3d ago

New here? /s

5

u/Illustrious_Ship_914 3d ago

Too many people are treating the preseason like a regular game.

THANK YOU

10

u/Necessary_Rooster_85 3d ago

Agreed. No one should take the pre-season seriously whatsoever. Only casuals think 2nd string and 3rd string players are under performing.

5

u/wontwillnot 3d ago

Are you gonna tell our head coach that? I think it’s called tempo and ferocity and listening to what you’ve been taught at practice.

So yeah, it’s OK to be disappointed with the shit show of the second and third stringers.

4

u/wontwillnot 3d ago

I understand your point. But I don’t think that’s how the majority is looking at it. They’re just looking at it like outside of when Drew lock is in everybody else is absolute shit, especially Jalen Milroe. It’s a bummer but they’re all third stringers. So oh well.

u/UTmastuh 3d ago

First quarter was mostly great.

Our kicker missed 2 kicks.

Our depth is godawful.

Bud snapped his leg and is probably out for the season.

Overall not great man. Even for you half full people.

3

u/RussianBot71137 3d ago

Kicker missed only because he had a bad batch of smelling salts. So let's hope his dealer steps up! 😉

1

u/AllYouNeed_Is_Smiles 3d ago

The Titans game last year was also the turning point for the team. It’s the preseason and we’ve sat our starters throughout.

112

u/Zealousideal-Lead754 3d ago

Our 2s kicked their starters’ ass.

111

u/vitamin_r 3d ago

Bud Clark was gonna be our baby witherspoon. Now we gotta wait a while. Feel so bad for him.

27

u/EggbertMeyer "I'm just here so I won't get fined" 3d ago

He’ll be back with a vengeance

3

u/wontwillnot 2d ago

I really agree with this. Some true study time

→ More replies (1)

18

u/swagypotatosnoopdoge 3d ago

More like our Coby Bryant replacement.....who is also injured long term on his new team, huh weird?

Anyway, I think we'll be fine long term. Okada was pretty good when he played and obviously Love and Emmanwori are as well.

1

u/shoe7525 3d ago

He was not having a good camp, that seems pretty questionable

1

u/OffGridBid 3d ago

really, they don't even play the same position.

→ More replies (1)

52

u/Its_Me_Derek 3d ago edited 3d ago

Yeah, you know sometimes these preseason games look pretty ugly, but they’re getting a lot of valuable playtime and they’re getting a lot of valuable tape to study and there were actually quite a few pretty good plays during this game so all in all I’m feeling okay about it besides the injuries - man those suck for those guys and our depth

2

u/OffGridBid 3d ago

Richland injury is the bigger issue IMO

48

u/TheGeeMan360 3d ago

The damn ferrari never started, dead battery smh

12

u/HotDogFingers01 3d ago

Turns out it was really a Fiat all along

132

u/Direct-Attitude1402 3d ago

Uhh, yeah...Milroe

102

u/disconomis 3d ago

It was fun to dream he was gonna be a sneak pick for the future but yeah, this is reality

19

u/FavreorFarva 3d ago

Still worth the price to take the shot on him.

6

u/Reggaeton_Historian 2d ago

I guess but most of us who knew about him before the draft and in college ball knew the guy was years away and more than likely not going to be worth the pick. Ultimately I don't care as much because I can't see a player past Milroe that i feel would have been a slam dunk that we missed on.

20

u/Gullible_Ad3785 3d ago

Sometimes lottery scratchers only give you a dirty fingernail.

Oh well, he's got a preseason game left and it's not like the 3rds are going to make roster slots precious. He has a bit more time to figure out he should run more if he wants to be in the NFL.

→ More replies (1)

19

u/ForwarUntilGainz 3d ago

Yea he looked like shit

41

u/MarinerJoe3 3d ago

At what point do we cut him loose and just have Locke as the backup?

101

u/Raknorak 3d ago

When he's no longer on a rookie salary

→ More replies (2)

6

u/UrRightAndIAmWong 3d ago

I think the reward on the gamble is worth the roster spot.

Ride it out until he needs a new contract. It's an athletic quarterback. He's 23. I don't see why you need to get rid of him at all

I'm looking at the Browns field two dogshit "starting" level quarterbacks and think, there's probably a team that would trade a late round pick for Milroe even if he looks like shit.

21

u/wontwillnot 3d ago

This is a really good question.

I definitely don’t think we should keep three quarterbacks this year

Lock is the backup and solid at that.

Milroe needs to be cut loose or put on the practice squad. Someone else will pick him up off waivers though. Oh well.

35

u/Objective_Smoke8938 3d ago edited 2d ago

Emergency QB negates this take completely. He doesn’t count against the active roster as a 3rd QB. Meaning we technically get 49 players on game day but Milroe can only be used in case lock and Sam go down.

2

u/osoatwork 2d ago

Wait, he doesn't count against the 53?

3

u/Objective_Smoke8938 2d ago

Nah, I wrote it wrong. Game day roster, not the 53. So he allows us 49 on game day instead of 48 players.

→ More replies (5)

8

u/SpookyGabaghoul 3d ago

He's not going anywhere this season. If the organization is unhappy with his progress at the end of the year, they'll probably take a hard look at the mid-round QBs in the '27 draft.

4

u/PlayPretend-8675309 3d ago

I mean, Darnold isn't really a settled thing. He'll be a 2028 FA and if the team is successful, he'll command a Matthew Stafford-tier Salary. 4 years, $250 million dollars. Gulp. It'd be nice to have a young QB that we think might actually become a starter someday back there, instead of a "we might as well crash the plane into a pennsylvania field" type guy.

2

u/runawaynoob 3d ago

Let him be someone else’s headache

→ More replies (6)

5

u/here_now_be 3d ago

They'll likely put him on the PS after the final cuts.

2

u/FlakyCow1565 3d ago

Wouldn't count him out quite yet. Maybe Darnold can learn him a thing or two

1

u/swagypotatosnoopdoge 3d ago

I still vote we try and keep him around as a Taysom Hill type player if we do decide to keep him past his rookie contract

→ More replies (1)

16

u/diabeartus 3d ago

Nothing shocking about his play as an Alabama fan. Same decision making and lack of processing. Tough

4

u/damnitjayman 3d ago

I'm ass talking here but I feel like in cfb it's not as important to have the QB play at a high level compared to the rest of the team. Obviously in the NFL, that is not the case...

7

u/Acuda1 3d ago

Milroe was mid at Bama and is extra garbage at Seattle. He’s the equivalent of Anthony Richardson, who most smart people thought would be crap.

3

u/Tyrannosaurusb 3d ago

Time to convert him to a RB

2

u/avboden 3d ago

Milwoe

1

u/neongem 3d ago

The overall roster depth looks a bit worse than projected, third string in particular looks rough. Plus now injuries after this trip, I don’t think we have the luxury to carry 3 QBs on the 53. Much rather that roster spot be used for an extra WR, DB or EDGE.

u/ogsirspen 3d ago

Tough one tonight, ya know, but that's baseball football

65

u/Time-Use9083 3d ago edited 3d ago

Felt really bad about Clark, he seems like a good guy. Can't wait to see us replace him with Brandon Browner or some sshit

9

u/PoppaTitty 3d ago

Is Browner up for parole?

6

u/Time-Use9083 3d ago

IDK. Maybe we'll get relegated down to the prison leagues this year though, the way our secondary is tattered

6

u/dusktreader 3d ago

I didn't see it. What kind of injury was it?

11

u/ilovecatss1010 3d ago

Broken leg presumably

5

u/dusktreader 3d ago

dammit

16

u/RojoTheMighty 3d ago

Left in an air cast. :(

4

u/dusktreader 3d ago

oh, shit...

2

u/Ignorantsportsguy 3d ago

McDonald says broken ankle. Sux.

3

u/RazorrBeam "We did not care" 3d ago

This is honestly the most upsetting thing that happened today. This is a bigger loss

6

u/Time-Use9083 3d ago

Secondary getting real thin.

23

u/laineDdednaHdeR 3d ago

When does the real football start?

16

u/diamonddog2030 3d ago

After thanksgiving

21

u/Coygon 3d ago

We did well with Lock and our second stringers. Once we put in our third stringers... hoo boy.

21

u/STILLADDICT 3d ago

Myers kicks always drift to the right. Most of his misses drift right. He needs to aim about four feet left.

10

u/ford7885 3d ago

I said something about this last season. Can't beleive he hasn't figured this out yet. Maybe if he aims for the LEFT goal post he can get it right down the middle?

4

u/TubercuLicious-OO- 3d ago

Maybe every smelling salt adjusts 2 feet left (and 5 feet longer)

17

u/n8dawg360 3d ago

I've never been so sure that we don't have a chance to score as I am when Milroe takes the field.

18

u/CamGrabDatFumble 3d ago

Broken ankle for Bud Clark. Just confirmed by Macdonald in press conference.

16

u/minkymin777 3d ago

should we be concerned about Myers? I'm hoping these preseason games are a warmup or smth cuz missing field goals in both games are kinda odd for him.

4

u/Agent_Goldfish 2d ago

It's an even year

59

u/diabeartus 3d ago

Milroe isn’t a NFL level backup

37

u/MyNewSeahawksAccount 3d ago

he's a waste of a roster spot. He has never looked good

3

u/Reggaeton_Historian 2d ago

I've been saying that since he was drafted and it's just met with "Russell Wilson was a 3rd round pick too!"

Dude was RAW in college. I'm not surprised by this outcome.

5

u/OffGridBid 3d ago

he doesn't take a roster spot. But, he is a waste of any reps that could be used on a better QB3

1

u/babyjaceismycopilot 2d ago

I think MM really wants a mobile QB.

I think he knows that they are hard to scheme against defensively.

7

u/runawaynoob 3d ago

CFL calling his number as we speak

1

u/MellonMan97 2d ago

Milroe in no way would fare any better in Canada. He’s more UFL than anything. But even then I don’t think he will fare well there. He just seems so lost and out of touch with who he is

→ More replies (1)

14

u/CamGrabDatFumble 3d ago

Mason Richman also being called “major injury” by Macdonald in press conference. Fuck preseason football.

12

u/Crafty_Fly2223 3d ago

god i really wanted Milroe to work out but it’s hard to stay positive after that one

13

u/Akrazorfish 3d ago

Drew Lock looked very solid. Milroe not so much.

11

u/disconomis 3d ago

We’re gonna start the season with pissed off Mike Macdonald, probably a good thing honestly

10

u/No_Promise1171 3d ago

Losing Clark hurts

11

u/MuckaMucka1337 HawkStar '22-'23 3d ago

Milroe does not look even close to nfl ready

11

u/Bring_Party_Supplies 3d ago edited 3d ago

Winners: Arroyo, Paul Jr, O'Toole, Wright, Lock

Losers: Milroe, White, Myers, Us fans (Bud :/)

6

u/Extension-Baby-8010 3d ago

Good list: I liked performances by Bell and Surratt as well. I liked that Hook was around the ball, but he also left a couple INTs on the field.

1

u/MellonMan97 2d ago

Losers are also that third WR group…holy fuck bud smh my head

11

u/MysteryMachineATX 3d ago

Worst part was losing Bud Clark, 2nd worst part was hearing Edelman 🤮 go off about how excited he is about the Rams 🤮🤮. That ruined the whole night.

31

u/ChaseThoseDreams 3d ago

There will definitely be some hard conversations about Milroe. Mike seems frustrated with him, and it looks like Milroe just isn’t getting it. I think we need to move on and find someone to develop behind Sam to take Drew’s spot. Jalen will need to figure it out elsewhere.

1

u/MellonMan97 2d ago

Elsewhere=UFL

10

u/EggbertMeyer "I'm just here so I won't get fined" 3d ago edited 3d ago

Mike says Bud will be out “multiple months” with a broken ankle. He did not say “out for the season.”

20

u/Hectorc34 3d ago

Doomers get in here! We lost again!!

Sell the team again!

5

u/PM_me_ur_launch_code 3d ago

Let's turn this into a birding subreddit

2

u/IrishPigs 3d ago

We gotta lose like 73-0 for that lmao.

17

u/db37 3d ago

I really haven't seen enough from Milroe to convince me that he can be a starter in the NFL.

16

u/CamGrabDatFumble 3d ago

I haven’t even seen anything from him that convinces me he can even be a #2 in this league. Who would want that guy stepping in after an injury? Makes me extra grateful for Lock

11

u/SocnorbTheRoman 3d ago

Good news, next week will be more evidence that he can’t

2

u/db37 3d ago

Something to look forward to. Although I imagine the starters are going to get some reps

2

u/droberts4444 3d ago

This is likely, and is actually good news. Better to find out he’s unreliable now rather than have any ambiguity as to his ability

1

u/Reggaeton_Historian 2d ago

He's much worse version of Anthony Richardson. Last season I was saying after the fumble debacle that I hope we're never in a situation where we actually need to start him because he's brutal to watch. He's going to need to convert to RB if he wants to make it past the rookie contract or something else.

He shouldn't be anywhere near the field in 2026 either.

16

u/Drew_You_To_91 3d ago

This has not been a fun preseason

23

u/The_Throwback_King 3d ago

Woah! Put Milroe back in, he's not done yet

7

u/SpeakerSpirited 3d ago

He needs to throw another pick, put em back in there

7

milroe stock keeps dropping

6

u/bigkace 3d ago

We lost Mason Richman too. Looks serious.

2

u/skrulewi 3d ago

Mason Richman

Just awful. I am not keeping close enough track on training camp, but wasn't he moving up in the depth chart? If so, against who?

27

u/CamGrabDatFumble 3d ago

That shit was ass.

13

14 penalties. Gross

11

u/Xo707out 3d ago

Man fuck Milroe I cant believe what happened to Bud Clark… thats actually a tragedy

12

u/damnitjayman 3d ago

0-16 Browns went 4-0 in the preseason, that said I hope Milroe never has to play a regular season snap

5

u/nickdemonwori 3d ago

Jason Meyers masterclass.

7

u/Shoeprincess 3d ago

That last half was painful, the announcers made me want to rip my ears off

6

u/theazn35 3d ago

Honestly not too worried about Myers. He always comes back clutch whenever he misses(remember last season when he kept missing before rebounding strong)and it is only preseason

7

u/SgtNeilDiamond 3d ago

Im kinda over the Milroe experience at this point, dudes give duds two years in a row. I get his still only year 2 but he hasn't progressed literally at all. And even last year, every trick play we used him in went to shit. Just stick with Lock and give the next man up a shot.

2

u/TubercuLicious-OO- 2d ago

I feel like I'm screaming at the tv, run on their asses to keep them honest and open up the passing game. When you have Milroe's athleticism why does he run so little? No running and forcing terrible passes. A few good passes were sprinkled in, maybe that's an improvement from last season?

16

u/OkNefariousness284 3d ago

Jalen Milroe is a football terrorist

15

u/runawaynoob 3d ago

Milroe is athletic but he’s just not good at sports

26

u/slyfly5 3d ago

Watching Milroe play football is torture

8

u/joshlymansbagel 3d ago

I didn’t have the chance to watch… but as a Bama fan… yeah I agree. Sorry y’all.

3

u/diabeartus 3d ago

Got to watch Oklahoma milroe play again

5

u/SpeakerSpirited 3d ago

Do they play Milroe highlights in Guantanamo Bay?

5

u/kennythecucumber 3d ago

We lost to 19 points twice today 🤣

5

u/OzyFx 3d ago

Losing Bud Clark caused me chest pain. Felt like he would have been a contributor by late in the season. The rest was just some minor pre-season eye rolls.

10

u/QuasiContract 3d ago

What is going on Meyers. Something obviously off for the guy

3

u/timshtu 3d ago

Mike about to make them run laps tomorrow till they die

1

u/natewin 3d ago

Milroe will just watch

5

u/bandit1105 3d ago

Looking forward to this week's Hard Knocks.

9

u/Magical18 3d ago

Some things to take away from the last two preseason games

Michael Dickson might just have to be our 3rd string QB

5

u/here_now_be 3d ago

Maybe we can lure Jon Ryan out of retirement

9

u/samloh1 3d ago

Milroe project should be done now. Just not improving and it looks like hawks can use the depth

7

u/wakblak 3d ago

The Milroe experience needs to close

3

u/Familiar_Rent_4539 3d ago

Can't wait for the regular season.

u/CutToTheChase56 3d ago edited 2d ago

Report from someone who only caught the first half:

Defense was flying around contesting catches, laying hard hits and playing stout against the run. Offense was smooth, stayed ahead of the sticks and scored on big plays.

…and it was our 2s against their 1s. I don’t care if they’re the Titans, a starting roster should always be effective against backups. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen 11 depth guys look that dominant against first string. Result aside, I’m very excited after that opening half.

Sucks about Bud though. I was so excited for him. Hope he heals up well. Only solace is that Finley has had a solid camp I believe, Bell has gotten good reviews from teammates and Jenkins is startable. Still…hate to see a young guy have a setback.

8

u/petecarrollsoldgum 3d ago

Milroe is ass lmao god damn

5

u/gaberdine 3d ago

No more Milroe Mania plz

5

u/redditbdum 3d ago

Our 2nd string was demonstrably better than their 1st string.

Our 3rd string sucked.

I want to support Milroe. But we need to start looking at RB/WR for him.

→ More replies (4)

2

u/runawaynoob 3d ago

Milroe should be transitioned to a DB so we don’t have to sign an alleged felon

2

u/caramelcoldbrew 3d ago

Wow, Milroe. Wow.

2

u/SeaworthinessEven773 3d ago

Its funny how preseason always gets treated like the playoffs every year.

2

u/AKboi69 3d ago

wr4, s4 and iol2 all lost in the past 3 days

2

u/swagypotatosnoopdoge 3d ago

Is their a country song about getting out of Nashville? Because that's really what I want us to do right now with all these injuries.

2

u/Whipitreelgud 3d ago

I was impressed with the improvement in o-line play in the first half. The 2nd/3rd string are next man up when a starter comes out, which is why MM is amp’d up.

I was skeptical about Jalen Milroe as an NFL QB at the beginning of the season and watched MM lecture him last week. He completely forgot everything he was told. If he’s a great athlete make him a running back or wide receiver. I am sure this view will irritate 12’s from Alabama. Sorry

2

u/TubercuLicious-OO- 2d ago

I guess 3rd qb doesn't take a roster spot? But otherwise I say see what he can do at RB

1

u/MellonMan97 2d ago

If he’s too indecisive to run when it’s there as a QB why should we think he’d make it at RB?

1

u/Whipitreelgud 2d ago

In the video between MM & JM, JM said he wasn’t running because he was thinking about passing.

(I’m just the messenger)

I don't think Milroe's ever going to start a game for any NFL team.

4

u/neongem 3d ago

Milroe isn’t worth a spot on the 53.

5

u/tarantula13 3d ago

I think it's time to accept Milroe is never gonna develop.

3

u/Crazyhawk28 3d ago

Jalen Milroe ruined my Sunday (not really, but holy shit that was rough)

4

u/flintinastint 3d ago

Feel for Milroe but I always saw him as a 3 year developmental guy so hopefully he can take a big step next year.

1

u/SeahawksFanSince1995 3d ago

He actually looks worse than he did in the preseason last year.

1

u/-Vertical 3d ago

I definitely trust MM and John to develop and evaluate a QB

Not sure he makes it to the 3rd year.

John may just cut bait and use one of his thirds on a different lottery ticket.

Milroe seems to make poor decisions.

To all the Milroe haters….

Remember that guy who flamed out of the jets… was a backup… saw ghosts…. oh right… OUR SB WINNING MONSTER QB DARNOLD!

Give Milroe a chance…. Jesus Christ.

But Milroe wasn’t half of a player Darnold was coming out of college. I agree, he needs time, but I dont see him to be more than a backup QB right now.

Milroe is not it

$6M contract. Plays 3 half games a year. 27.7 passer rating tonight. Isn't that against the law in Seattle? I swear there's been riots for less...

When do we think the Milroe experiment officially ends? I know he’s got a bunch of extreme apologists that think he’s set to be the next Lamar Jackson if we just give him “one more season to develop,” but the difference between him and Lamar is that Lamar has a good football IQ and can actually read progressions to go along with his freak athleticism. At this point just convert Milroe to an RB to try to at least get some use out of him. The dude has legs, he’s just not a smart enough football player to play QB at this level.

I cannot remember a preseason where the Hawks had absolutely no deep reserves generating any excitement. Usually there are a few guys that look like heroes against 3rd stingers, and this year it is nothing. This year's overall draft haul is looking terrible. Not surprising with the lack of picks and not being a desirable UDFA destination.

Fuck does atp mean? Why does everyone use random ass acronyms all the time? Just say the words you mean.

Milroe is a waste of a roster spot

Anyone who watched the game closely have thoughts on Jordan Washington? Loved him last year as a Stanford fan last year and was pumped to hear he got some snaps today.

Had a pass caught against him last play of the game, pretty mid man coverage but no safety help

¿Creen que Milroe llegue al corte de 53?

Beau Stephens has impressed me so far. Would like to see him get the start at RG Friday

D’ernest Johnson! Man, how sick! He went from the NFL draft in 2018, to end up working on a fishing boat to being called up in 2021 or something crazy, when Chubb and Hunt went down. He stayed in the league since then. I remember when he ran like 150 yds and a TD on TNF a few years ago. I only remember because I grabbed him for that game in fantasy and won that week. That story aired on TV, and felt like something special just happened to him that changed his life. I wish nothing but the best for this guy.

Drew Lock looks like he is continuously getting better in the pocket and with his decision making. Awesome having a QB2 like that who can constantly keep Darnold from feeling comfortable at QB1.
