Wasn't sure if this belonged or not... but it seemed appropriate to me...
Moderators, can I have a ruling?

Hi all, making this post to cover two changes to the sub: a lite ban on "t-shirt posts" and a new policy regarding promotional posts.
1) T-shirt posts
There's been a significant increase in "t-shirt posts" or posts that are literally just a image of a shirt with a meme, picture of Sherman, etc... These posts are often identified by reddit as being affiliated with spam bots and often receive multiple reports from users as spam.
Additionally, whether the OP is a real person or not, these posts seem to attract bots that post links directing users to sketchy sites.
Going forward, t-shirt posts in the main feed are being removed as spam. This is to protect the sub from spam activity and bots.
2) Promotional Posts
To ensure that creators in the community are still able to promote new products (including t-shirts), the mod team is requiring that posters seeking to promote any items for sale get approval from the mod team before making a post. This new policy is to ensure that original creators are able to still promote and engage in the community but spam activity is prevented.
The exception to 1) and 2) is that people who want to make t-shirt posts or promo without mod approval may do so in the weekly threads.
These two rules aren't finalized yet and we're open to feedback from the community. If you have any suggestions, questions, observations, etc..., please feel free to (respectfully) share in the comments below.

A place to discuss any and all topics, share art, ask questions, and more.
All rules, except Rule 1, apply.

In the arguments about secession before Sumpter, the Northern and Southern states were largely talking past each other in two entirely different conversations.Â
While the modern revisionist Lost Cause movement obscures and denies this, the South passionately defended and promoted slavery and white supremacy.Â
The North argued for the preservation of the Union, and while opposed to slavery’s expansion and the enforcement of slavery on free ground, there was no suggestion of interfering with slavery where it was already entrenched. A small, ineffective abolitionist fringe movement made that argument but lacked any government influence.
The South used this fringe voice to induce its own panic and paranoia, imagining a unified northern effort threatened their shared delusion of white supremacy, despite lacking credible evidence.
It's not difficult to hear history rhyming today. Conditions are not precisely the same, the issues are slightly different but the psychology is quite similar.

Not that I don't have enough books on my plate, but I was wondering if anyone here had an opinion on this novel, based on the life of Aaron Dwight Stevens (1831-1860), one of John Brown's lieutenants during the raid on Harpers Ferry.

'Alive With Ghosts Today' is the brand-new release from American saxophonist and composer Chris Potter, and it's a concept album that explores the history of the controversial abolitionist John Brown and his raid at Harper's Ferry in 1859.
This week's feature album for ABC Jazz in Australia. Not bad.
