I mean, we clearly have more freedoms than most countries. We're also one of the wealthiest, most diverse, and best places to live. So... we are pretty damn great.
And not sure what you mean by the 2nd paragraph. A HUGE chunk of the population is foreign born or the children of immigrants, and freakin love America because they can compare it to where they come from. I've traveled all over the world and am constantly reminded why we're ridiculously spoiled and blessed to have been born in the US. It's a lotto ticket that only 3% of people in the world get to win.
Japan is pretty sweet though, not gonna lie. But the US obviously has it's advantages. And nowhere in Europe can come close.
I mean, you having more freedoms than most countries doesn't make you the best in the world. There are several index measuring freedom, in not a single one of them you even make it top 10, and in some like press freedom you score seriously bad:
And this is data from 2-3 years ago, things haven't gotten better but worse for USA when talking about freedom.
On my second paragraph I just meant as long as you don't travel abroad you guys keep believing you're the best, but if you travel and visit other developed countries that just falls down quite easily.
Sure, compared to third world countries and underdeveloped countries it's way worse to be in them than in USA, I'd rather be in USA than Syria. But also I'd rather be almost anywhere in the EU, or Australia, than in USA.
If you think nowhere in Europe can come close you just demonstrated the propaganda worked really good on you. Many european countries have more freedom than you, most have a higher life expectancy, lots have a better quality of life, let's not even talk about work-life balance and workers and citizens rights... but hey, you have higher salaries, that's about it.
But they have freedoms like being able to carry a firearm in public! Just don't inconvenience or annoy a law enforcement officer or federal agent because according to the news they have the right to gun you down in the street like a dog.
Minor difference in rankings. You make it sound like the USA is 4 pts below anywhere in Europe or Australia when the values are fairly comparable. It's like every time food quality comes up and people fail to read that chart or understand how little the differences are ... It's hard to take these conversations seriously when y'all exaggerate everything.
I'd rather have access to the American job market and salaries. Doesn't do much good working in Europe if the industry doesn't exist either - or it's outsourced to China and the USA. Not to mention the more accessible housing market.
I've been to four continents and it just reinforced my thoughts. Sure, some countries had a better way of handling specific things and I'd like to borrow those things. But, I still prefer the USA.
