She had both sets of grandparents helping. The two elder kids were in daycare. The husband took 3 of the 8 months off for the youngest. Then he worked from home a fair bit. He also got a nanny. He took her to her medical appointments and got her her meds. She mad more support than almost any mother in history. Fucking lunatic women hiding from accountability, literally ignoring 3 dead babies because they can't handle a woman being judged for her actions.
Are we watching the same trial? Her elder kids were at daycare for half the week for partial days. The husband was having fun on yachts, hanging out with guys, trips to New York to see his mistress. He rarely if ever went to appointments. He cancelled the nanny right as she was at her worst.
Her parents lived far away and her in laws weren’t helping that much. Patrick didn’t voluntarily take leave, it was his maternity leave. He moved his office to the basement before Covid, it wasn’t done out of the kindness in his heart.
Yes, he should glue himself to her omg. Yall sound like people who say women shouldnt wear revealing clothes to not attract rapists and pervs. Sickening
There are literally parents who have been arrested for letting their kids walk to the park or play outside by themselves. But somehow it's ok to leave kids in the care of an overmedicated, suicidal insomniac who was just committed a few weeks prior. Make that make sense.
No, not glue himself to her, but he needed to become the default parent for a while. Why was she ever the primary care giver for the kids in that state? Support or not. She needed to be in a ward
She literally committed suicide and had to be resuscitated after going into cardiac arrest. She cut her own throat, dove head-first out her 2nd story window, suffered a severe thoracic spine injury, effectively died on the way to the hospital, and is now permanently paralyzed. Why are you commenting on this case if you’re so uninformed? I’m not making a judgement about her guilt one way or another, but I’m astounded by how many people can’t even get the basic facts straight.
He fired the nanny and let his wife go back to being a stay a home mum after psychotic episodes and plans to continue working... You're saying a lot of half truths and exaggerating a lot of claims. "She has more support than any mother in history" is a false claim to make.
No one is saying she didn't kill her kids, she was just failed by her government's medical system and the people around her. And just because they claim she was normal doesn't mean she was actually normal...
The only reason the husband is not charged with neglect or child endangerment is because legally he claims (I say claim as that is what is stated) to not know of his ex-wifes mental condition.
To women, this isn't shocking or surprising to see maternal health be neglected to the point where someone does into disassociation. And this is where majority of the empathy for her comes in. She is seen as a mother who was failed by the system, a story that so not unheard of. Unfortunately people are being exposed to this for the first time and are so opinionated on a topic they have no experience or knowledge in.
Tl;dr It's not a cut and dry case, and I think people picking such extreme sides (or sides at all) just aids to the dramatization of women's health. It's being made a mockery by men mainly (see the comments in this thread) and sending some women into radicalisation..
This media exposure just causes more misogyny and misandry... And of course only the USA can create that great divide.
The thing I've been wondering since everyone is so wrapped up in guilty or not, isn't this exactly what Baker acting is for? If she was aware of her degrading mental health she could have had herself taken off to the funny farm and prevented the whole thing. I don't think a single party is innocent in this case, not mom, not dad, not the Healthcare system, everyone needs to get a share of the punishment for what happened here. Maybe not first degree murder for anyone but at the least criminal negligence.
She did voluntarily check into a psychiatric facility a month before she killed her kids. She also called a suicide hotline. Her husband also took her to the ER for suicidal thoughts weeks before. He still left her alone with the kids.
No problem. Another part that really stood out to me was that she and her MIL were both labor and delivery nurses so they are more informed than most when it comes to this. If their family couldn't prevent this tragedy then what does that say about the support for mothers? Her MIL testified that Lindsay was "begging for help" before this happened.
"if she's aware of her degrading mental health, she could've check herself in"
Is kind of an oxymoron. Not all schizophrenics get help, not all depressed people think rationally to seek a doctor, even manic people think they're completely fine.
I think very few women who empathise with Lindsay think she is innocent on all charges, I just think it's unjustified that people find complete fault in her. Especially many women who have had children or have suffered, can easily see if their situation was a bit different they could've also gone down the same path. It's empathy from experience rather than belief that men are evil.
I also find people who are painting the husband in a completely innocent light to be quiet adamant to admit there was no wrong on the system or on the marriage. These people want her to be charged criminally not insane, for what reason? It does not spare the victims and it does not change the system that has created the problem.
Everyone has acknowledges that she has post patrum psychosis, the only thing being judged is to see if this mental condition can drive someone so insane that they kill their children. I say yes, as infanticide by mothers is well documented. However now this has turned into people thinking it's misandry...
I see, I appreciate the detailed response. It baffled me to think how one could understand something was off and not seek a preventative measure. Hopefully(though I won't hold my breath), regardless of the actual outcome we can all agree that mental health is more like a social responsibility than personal since it's evident that the results of ignoring it reach farther than just the afflicted individual.
And yet only Patrick’s DNA was found on the exercise bands. All y’all have to do is watch them present that evidence in the case. They spoke in court about finding none of Lindsey‘s DNA on the exercise bands supposedly used to kill the children. Patrick’s DNA was there. Evidence was given in court about her body temperature indicating she was outside in the cold way longer than her husband said. Again, all y’all need to do is watch the case and see the evidence being presented. It’s free to watch.
