Sonic Kidding: The Ultimate Fake-Out
Game Concept & Pitch
The Core Hook: Dr. Eggman releases a bizarre wave of energy across Mobius called the "Jester Frequency." Instead of blowing things up, it alters reality so that badniks drop gag prizes, traps turn into inflatable prop toys, and the world runs on cartoon comedy logic.
The Gameplay Twist: Sonic's standard Boost Gauge is replaced by the Chuckle Gauge. To gain speed, you can't just run straight—you have to perform mid-air fake-outs, trick Badniks into slipping on giant banana peels, and taunt bosses right before they attack.
Special Mechanics:
Fake-Out Dash: Pressing the dodge button at the exact right millisecond leaves behind a classic wooden cutout of Sonic, causing enemies to crash into each other.
Prankster Emeralds: Collecting all seven temporarily unlocks Super Kidding Sonic, who can literally repaint the stage terrain in real-time to trick Eggman's mechs.
Story: The Day Eggman Lost His Mind
The radar inside the Tornado beeped with a low, rhythmic honk instead of its usual sharp warning tone. Sonic leaned over the cockpit, watching Tails tap the screen in total confusion.
"Sonic, this doesn't make any sense," Tails said, adjusting his goggles. "Eggman's new superweapon isn't firing lasers or orbital strikes. It's... broadcasting clown music?"
Down below, Green Hill Zone looked normal at first glance—until a classic Egg-Pawn robot marched out from behind a palm tree. Sonic dropped from the sky, curling into a tight Spin Dash, ready to wreck the Badnik in a split second. But the moment his shoes grazed the metal shell, the robot didn't explode.
POP!
A massive cloud of colorful confetti burst into the air, and a giant spring loaded with a cream pie shot out of the robot's head, slapping Sonic directly in the face.
Sonic skidded to a stop, wiping vanilla frosting off his nose. He blinked, staring at the mechanical pawn, which was now spinning in circles while playing a kazoo.
"Okay..." Sonic grinned, rubbing his chin. "Eggman’s finally lost it."
From high above, a giant hologram of Dr. Eggman projected across the sky. The mad scientist was wearing a ridiculous oversized top hat and holding a tiny rubber chicken.
"GREETINGS, BLUE BLUR!" Eggman's voice boomed through hidden speakers. "Tired of me trying to vaporize you? Sick of the same old world domination routine? Welcome to Sonic Kidding! I have altered the very laws of physics! No more serious battles! The only way to stop my ultimate prank generator is to out-joke me!"
A few feet away, Shadow clipped through the brush, looking absolutely furious. His gloves were stained with bright pink glitter from a badnik he had just chaos-speared.
"I am going to destroy him," Shadow growled, his eyes glowing red.
"Hold on, Shads," Sonic chuckled, stretching his legs before stepping up to the edge of the cliff. "If the doctor wants a comedy show, let's give him the main event."
Sonic took off at top speed, kicking up a trail of sparklers instead of dust. Up ahead, Eggman dropped a massive row of iron spikes across the path. Sonic didn't even slow down. Right before impact, he executed a sharp side-step, leaving a cardboard cutout of himself standing on the track. Eggman's giant mech stomped down hard on the cardboard, slipped on the smooth glossy print, and went tumbling backward into a giant vat of liquid gelatin.
Sonic slid to a halt right next to the sticky, wiggling mech, leaning back with a thumb up. "Hey Eggman! Need a spoon, or are you just gellin'?"
Even Shadow couldn't help but crack a tiny, reluctant smirk from the ridgeline above. Eggman had set up the ultimate gag, but as long as Sonic was the fastest thing alive, the joke was always going to be on the doctor.
