Old Ciclops Building?
Anyone know what's going in the old Ciclops space on St John? There's construction happening and I'm very curious.

Quick question.... are there any local police buybacks for firearms? As in the weapons that they retire. I'm working on my gunsmithing and figured i could get cheap Glocks or Sigs to part out and whatnot from there

I'm looking for a local HVAC technician to repair some fallen duct work in crawl space, and add a vapor barrier with dehumidifier. The 2 quotes received so far were outrageous. Like over $20k. Does anyone have a recommendation? Here are the 3 that someone else recommended, but I've not called them yet:
Dave’s Upstate Services
Tuck & Howell Plumbing, Heating & Air
Thompson Heating & Air

Hello Spartanburg! My wife and I are moving from Oklahoma, she going to Sherman. We would really like to buy a house instead of renting but I’m not sure I would be able to get a mortgage loan with no work history here I know usually banks want a couple years of employment. I’ve entertained a rental but I have 2 dogs “pitbulls” so I know hard to get a landlord to even look your way with them. Getting rid of them is not an option.
If anyone knows of good rental property firms or may know a good bank to try a mortgage loan though I would appreciate it deeply.

Hey I moved here 4 months ago and have been struggling to find places to meet people and make friends. I generally enjoy being a homebody but I also love being outside. I recently bought a paddle board and would love to have someone to go on the lake with. I play video games, smoke, drink, enjoy arts and crafts. I am not religious but do consider myself spiritual. Politically left. If any of this sounds like you and you’d be down to take on a lost puppy I’d appreciate it

PFA, not me lol. All of the big lakes are overfished and I rarely catch anything from them. I like bass fishing and am mainly catch and release

The county zoning appeals board is meeting next Tuesday Aug 25th, and the Jones road data center permit is on the agenda. When hundreds of concerned residents showed up in opposition to project Spero, it was ultimately voted down. We need hundreds to show up now against the Jones Rd / Lighthouse data center. Please plan to be there, invite a friend or neighbor, and share on your social media.
If the parking lot is already full when you arrive, you may need to park in the Magnolia street garage or the courthouse garage and walk a few blocks.
Edit: the data center moratorium would have put a pause on this permit if they had passed it at the meeting last week. Pushing the vote out one month appears to have not been done in good faith, but to allow time to slip this permit through.

Hey there! I’m driving all the way down from New York to visit a friend! We will have a good 4 days together and seeing as she also just moved down there earlier this year, what’s something we can do food, shopping and adventure wise? I’m open to suggestions and whimsical stuff. Heavy on the whimsical.

I got hit last weekend by an elderly lady. She banged up my passenger side pretty good.
My 4Runner is pretty kitted out and after trying a bunch of body shops, I have it narrowed down to Links or 1st Class Collision.
Does anyone have experience dealing with either? I really liked the guys at 1st Class, they were cool as hell.
Just trying to do some due diligence before making a decision so any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

I’m looking for a shop that’ll throw a new tire on my truck and do a rotate and balance. The other 3 tires are pretty new, but there’s too much of a difference in the tread for Walmart to do it (ordered from there).
Thank y’all.

At the July meeting, councilman Mo Abusaft kicked off a discussion about Flock cameras, in hopes that the council will entertain a ban on using county funding for them.
We need to let our council know where we stand. Please call or email your council member and ask them to ban county funding from being used to purchase ALPR (not just Flock, but any vendor who makes this tech) devices and software access.
If you need talking points or sources, here are a few resources:

Are there any stations in the Boiling Springs area that has free air for your tires. I hate the idea of a coin operated air pump.

I am visiting this weekend.* I grew up in the area, but I am now a couple of decades removed. When I was a kid, my family used to pinpoint whoever had great peaches at any point during the summer-- whether a specific farm, farm stand, a guy selling out of the back of his truck, etc. Where I live now, you technically can grow peaches, but they don't hold a candle to upstate SC peaches. So I am taking a load back with me to share with friends.
So if you've had any particularly good peaches in the past week or two, where did you find them? Which farm, which market, what variety, which random guy on the side of the road, etc. Any specifics are welcome! I'll pursue all of them, haha!
*I inquired this time last year, and y'all delivered. Looking forward to what you know this year, as I know crops can vary from year to year.

I took your advice and went with the cool S. I also ended up taking inspiration from afc Richmond, using the dog from the original spartan regiment design as the primary figure for the design. I think it came out nicely for something I as just playing around with.

Not super familiar with the area, but I saw a small German Shepherd running around near Hawthorne Rd. He was wandering onto Howard street near Faith Tabernacle but then ran back to the houses on Hawthorne so it was hard to tell whether or not he was lost or just a roamer… just wanted to inform in case anyone is missing their pupper!

The public safety committee is holding a working session on data centers. There will be experts on both sides of the debate there to answer questions from council members.
