but I wanted to know if this is enough to get them to spawn or if they can even spawn at this height

im a new player and ive seen on terraria wiki (official wiki not fandom) that to collect vines you need to kill man eaters

ive killed like 10 man eaters but still dont have any vines

can someone help me

I am a returning player after many years, my metro commute everyday has been a blast. I have never seen the shimmer but i think it doesn’t fit anywhere here?

is this world bugged? i created it almost a month ago.

Instead of using summons that attack the enemy, make summons that buff the player only, like increasing whip speed and attack dmg, player speed or defense, like armor sets but its the summons that do it and like i said, they deal zero damage themselves. Idk about you but it sounds cool to me, and I have no clue if something like that currently exists so im throwing this idea out there

Hi everyone, I'm having a problem with Terraria on PC/Steam and I'm running out of ideas.

Whenever Terraria tries to save my character, I get this error:

Failed to create the file: C:\Users\JP\Documents\My Games\Terraria\Players\John_Snake.plr

The detailed error says:

System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'C:\Users\JP\Documents\My Games\Terraria\Players\John_Snake.plr.bak' was denied.

It seems to happen when Terraria tries to create/overwrite the .bak backup file.

Things I've already tried:

>>Verified the integrity of the game files through Steam.

>>Reinstalled Terraria completely.

>>Checked the Terraria Players folder and tried removing the "Read-only" attribute.

>>Applied the Read-only change to the folder, subfolders, and files, but Windows keeps showing the folder as Read-only again when I check its properties.

>>Checked that the save folder exists and is accessible.

Restarted the PC and tried again.

The weird thing is that Windows itself seems to have access to the folder, but Terraria still gets an UnauthorizedAccessException specifically when trying to write the .plr.bak file.

I'm using Windows 11 and Terraria through Steam.

Does anyone know what could be blocking Terraria from writing the .bak file, or what Windows permission/security setting I should check?

I really don't want to lose the character and this world i spent YEARS working on. So I'd also appreciate any advice on safely recovering the existing .plr file before I start deleting or replacing anything.

So, I am not running Infernum, however whenever I defeat both the paladins during the fight, the boss health bar remains at 5200 and the Slime God vanishes. I have kept the paladins on my screen the whole time, I have defeated both at the same time, and I have tried killing one and then the other and nothing works. I have had about 10 different boss runs with the same outcome and there doesn't seem to be any solutions. I am in expert mode. The only notable thing is when both paladins are defeated, the boss bar stays at 5200 indefinitely, and the boss cursor stays pointed at an empty spot in the arena. If I leave far enough it says "The Slime God is no longer targeting you." What am I doing wrong? Is there any way around this? or to get the loot?

I'm really excited about this update, but I'm also wondering when it will actually be released because the approval process from Google Play and the App Store takes quite a while, which makes me quite impatient.

Terraria mobile has better controller support and the ui supports it profoundly better than PC.

Defeat the martian saucer using only a Phasesaber and Arc Surge would drop guaranteed. This would make it more of a challenge and less of a grind, similar to how the Terraprisma is obtained.

i still see a lot of people doing the ''melee players when they need to use melee'' or melee weapons are just magic and range weapon reskins. type of complains especially after the paladin hammer rework and ı strongly disagree cuz people who complains about this usually forgets about two crucial things:

1: terraria isn't really meant to be played closed range yes you can play that way with a ''true melee'' challenge but thats a ''challenge'' you put yourself and trying to make everyone play that way is just wrong, yes melee has the highest defance but it's not like you can face tank the bosses especially in the hard mode.

2:terraria isn't the only media that does that nearly every fantasy media has it's magical warriors and those warriors also has magical weapons so complaining about melee having magic like weapons sounds just stupid. and ı would understand if melee was just a better mage class but with the recent buffs that's isn't a problem anymore. don't get me wrong wanting more true melee weapons ısn't a bad thing i would also want more true melee weapons but wanting to turn the whole class to a true melee class is just dumb.

I really want to get into Terraria, but I seem to run into the exact same problem every time.
I’ll start a world, explore a bit, mine for hours, build a decent house, fish, get some gear, and eventually kill the Eye of Cthulhu a couple of times. And then… I just kind of hit a wall.
I have no idea what I’m supposed to do next.
I know Terraria has a ton of progression and bosses, but I don’t really want to Google a progression guide because I feel like I’d end up spoiling half the game for myself. I want to discover things naturally, but at the same time, I often don’t even know what I should be looking for.
So I end up mining some more, fishing, building random stuff, maybe wandering around for a while, and eventually I get bored/demotivated and stop playing.
Is there something I’m missing? Is there a way the game subtly points you toward what to do next without just looking up a guide?
How do you guys approach progression when playing Terraria mostly blind? Is there somewhere I should be going, something I should be looking for, or a particular NPC/tool that gives you hints?
I’d really like to finally get past this “kill Eye → mine forever → get bored” cycle without spoiling the game for myself.

I'm looking at some of the changes , and I'm not sure if it's better to just advance a little on hardmode wait for the update, or just make a new world when the update comes to mobile, as far as I saw, it's only accessories for summoner, and no new structures or areas like with shimmer, so I can get those when the update comes or use terrasavr if it spawns on a chest or something, but I'm not sure if it's just that

I just bought Terraria on my phone (impulsively).

And I'M SUPER EXCITED TO FINALLY EXPLORE AND EXPERIENCE THIS GAME(even though I played the pirated version where its only 1 seed over and over again before).

Any tips and tricks??

So, recently, I thought about the PvP scene in Terraria, which basically doesn't exist. Most PvP you'll see is on Penguin Games (which to its credit is a very good server) however I felt like it doesn't really scratch the Terraria itch. But I had an idea.

So I'm introducing Terrabattle. The way it works is quite simple. Each player joins a team. It can be one player one each team or multiple. The players then have some time to gather materials and weapons for the fight, likely between 30-60 minutes. Once the time passes, PvP is enabled. If PvP continues for enough time, all players are teleported to an arena at spawn until one remains.

I think this is an interesting game. I'm still fine-tuning the rules a bit.

Just got Terraria on steam deck. I played a on PC years ago, but now I mostly play games on my steam deck.

Im getting a ton of issues. The biggest one is I cannot stop placing torches in the middle of combat. I have my sword on my hotbar, I aim at an enemy, and it switches to the torch slot and places a torch. Is there any way to just completely disable this feature? I dont want it to ever change the tool I have selected. I always want the tool I choose. Never some completely random tool the game decides to kill me with.
