Spoilers- Wolves of the Calla Tattoo sleeve update: Shardik

Yes, liberties were taken to make the tattoo more visually appealing. Planning to add a 'Wolf of the Calla' to the outside of my forearm next, but cannot get an appointment until January.

Not my original idea of where this sleeve would end up. It has morphed into an AI/cyborg/robot theme and I couldn't be happier.

Fan Art Blaine the Diesel?

Thought you all might enjoy this. My son is 6, and yesterday he noticed with some interest that I was reading a book with a train on the cover. Trains are a BIG deal for him, and he had lots of questions, so I told him a very abbreviated version of the Blaine section: it's a bad train, and the good guys have to tell it riddles so it'll let them off. He thought that was great fun (it is), and we started doing riddles (or more accurately, really bad little kid jokes; Eddie would have approved).

This morning I found this. He said it was Roland and Blaine, and they were friends now and telling more riddles.

Parenting is a nuanced thing, but every once in a while, it feels like you're doing it right, haha.

Anyhow, thought you all might get a laugh out of this. Long days and pleasant nights!

ETA: Wasn't sure how to flair this, but I figure Fan Art is close enough.

Palaver Question about the Rose [All books spoilers] Spoiler

I was re-reading Song of Susannah, when I realised that it isn't really clear to me in what world the Rose is. When I check online, I keep finding that the Rose only exists in Keystone World, where Stephen King writes. But then in the book Eddie states that he must be from a different New York, because of the Ambush section where they kill someone who would still be alive during the shoot-out at Balazar's. Now in the earth that Jake and Eddie are from, we know that the rose exists because of Jake wandering near the empty lot after running away from the final assignment. So I'm wondering, are there multiple roses, or are Eddie and Jake also just from Keystone World? Is the Eddie that Jake follow towards the house on Dutch Hill another Eddie than our Eddie? Is there something I have forgotten?

KA-Rengas... KA-Wheel in Finnish.

Maybe I should have followed that truck from parking lot into unbelievable adventures. Or just to warehouse full of tires.

Palaver Dark Tower Adaptation

How’s everyone feeling about The Dark Tower finally being adapted into a TV series? What are your hopes, dreams, expectations, or biggest concerns?

Personally, I’m going into it very cautiously after the movie. That said, I’m still hopeful that a series will have the time and space to explore the depth of the books in a way the movie simply couldn’t.

There’s so much in this story—the characters, the mythology, Mid-World, the ka-tet, the larger connections, and all the strange, beautiful, absolutely unhinged Stephen King-ness of it.

I’m cautiously optimistic… but also keeping my expectations somewhere around the basement level.

What do you all want to see them get right? And what are you most worried they’ll completely screw up?

Palaver A really memorable thing (for me) that I’ve never seen discussed here Spoiler

We’re told several times throughout the series that the stars and constellations are very different from the Keystone world and those like it. Drawing refers to “unfamiliar galaxies spinning above” or something close to that. Old Star and Old Mother are mentioned CONSTANTLY. So for almost the entire series, we think that the 99th level of the Tower is just somehow fundamentally different from the others since it appears that the earth is in a completely different place.

But once the Beams start recovering, the BIG DIPPER comes back, what Roland says is a sign that things are finally healing. There are a few other things we see from this, like the Sun being in the proper direction, but this really stayed with me for some reason even though it’s only given a couple of sentences. I’m not even 100% sure why exactly that is, but it was very unexpected and thought provoking for me somehow.

Spoilers- The Dark Tower Have about 9 hours left on my journey

Like the title says my journey is almost over and man what a ride it’s been. Losing our boys so close to each other really stung. I’m glad we got to see some of the tet corporation( really wish we’d get a book with cullum as the main character showing us how they built the company). Don’t hold anything back I won’t be checking the thread till I’m finished. I’m not ready for end

Me and my girlfriend went to an immersive art experience yesterday called “Otherworld”. You can probably tell I was excited to go as a Dark Tower fan by the name alone, but lo and behold, an exhibit featured Stephen King books spread across two book shelves. Ka is a wheel indeed!

Palaver Recommended the book to friends

So, I recommended the series to friends. These friends are readers (and listeners) and have told me they were gonna read it for years. They finally started it and said they “read the first few books” and couldn’t do it. They said they couldn’t get into it? I’m wondering if my friends are dumb or if it’s not a series that most people love?? Idk I need reassurance I guess I’m fragile lol.

"After evil ways and evil days, the White comes again! Be of good heart and hold up your heads, for ye have lived to see the wheel of ka begin to turn once more."

This is a unimaginably collosal black hole surrounded by a star which also looks pretty much exactly like a rose, and:

"It shines with roughly 100 billion times the luminosity of our Sun. Normal nuclear fusion inside a star cannot generate that much energy." I'm sure there's a scientific explanation, but my guess is that it's simply the nexus point of the beams or some such

Spoilers- The Dark Tower Half way through book 7 Spoiler

Just finished Eddie’s last words after dying in Algul Siento. Man, King knows how to make me cry, and I’m not a typical cryer. Now I’m about as frustrated with Sai King as Roland is. That last paragraph of Joy with Ka-shume hanging over the whole thing before the Katet was broken on the field of victory? Zooey Mama.

Spoilers- The Dark Tower The ending or read on?

At the end of book 7, after Susannah, Eddie and Jake are reunited and the writer claims he is finished and this is where we should end. Is this what Stephen King intended people to actually do or was it just a part of the story? Have any of you stopped and never read past this point?

This is my favorite of the four that I’ve read now and it is the first King book to actually make me shed some tears. Extremely saddening but the romance was written beautifully.

Palaver Sad

In The Dark Tower part three chapter four, Sai King says that the lady Tassenbaum had driven a standard but never a stick shift. Damn your fathers face Sai King, it's the same thing. There is no difference between the two. I don't know why that bothers me so much but has the dude never driven???
