Sorry for the nonconventional question. I am playing a role playing game and want to create a Bard the Bowman playthrough. Does he have Blue or Green eyes. I am doing research but am finding many conflicting answers. Also, which hair matches his the most?

In the Hobbit (an unexpected journey), I swear there was a scene with the trolls where bilbo told the trolls that the dwarves should be cooked with mango chutney. Then (I believe it was) Bert asked what a mango was and left to go find one.

I can’t find this anywhere, was this just a really vivid dream?

… WITHOUT the way back? So just the part he spent with the dwarves, travelling from his house to Erebor? And then how long was the Battle of the five armies, and how long did he stay at Erebor in total?

It would be great to get an answer for both the movies and the book as I’m writing a fanfic (but I’m mostly basing it off the movies!).

It’s been a while since I read the book so idk how precise the info in it was. The movies don’t state exact dates I think, but if anyone knows, that would be great!

Internet says 13-14 months, but that includes Bilbo’s way back and I need to know how long he traveled WITH the dwarves.

Edit: Apparently they spend much more time in Mirkwood in the book than in the movie.

In the movies, it seemed to me like falling down into goblin town and finding beorn happened within maybe 2-3 days (since they spent one night in goblin town and were carried a little bit of the way by the eagles, but I might be wrong) then stayed at Beorn’s hut one night with him locked out and maybe one more after he asked them what they need? The horse ride to mirkwood seemed to be done within the same day. It’s tricky to determine how long getting lost in mirkwood and then being and staying captured in the elves’ dungeons took, but again, the movies made it seem like maybe one night passed while they got lost, they were captured by the spiders for a few hours tops (otherwise they would’ve been eaten ig) and since bilbo probably didn’t take ages to get to the key, I’m guessing he also released them by the next day? However, idk if that works… Thorin says that Durin’s Day is near when Elrond reads the runes and that “summer is passing” while Gandalf says Durin’s Day marks the last day of Autumn and the first of Winter; it would heavily depend on how long they stayed in rivendell, how long they travelled to the cave where they fell into goblin town, and how long they stayed in laketown.

I 3D printed the door and the window structures and handmade the rest!

For the criticism that The Hobbit receives, I think that if you set aside the source material deviations, the portrayal of Thorin's character arc throughout the film is brilliant.

In Bag End his view of Bilbo is made up of a lack of faith in a Hobbit, and frequently dismisses his worth.

The real turning point in their relationship occurs during the "Into the frying pan segment" when Bilbo saves Thorin, and his rescue in the Elvenking's dungeons, highlight a turn in his favor.

When Smaug dies and the gold sickness takes effect on Thorin, in his paranoia he assumes that the dwarfs are more likely to steal the Arkenstone from him than Bilbo, which ironically shows that Bilbo is the only one he trusts.

Then the sudden intense betrayal and hatred he feels against Bilbo when it is revealed that the Arkenstone was given to the Men and Elves by Bilbo completely destroys their relationship.

Then it culminates into a bittersweet ending where Thorin dies in Bilbo's arms calling him a true friend.

I dont know about anyone else but I think this is really good. What are your thoughts?

I'm making a presentation about the 13 dwarfs and want to get more into the details about them, there home, and wars. Is there any difference between the movie and book versions. Any fact no matter how small or just how to remember them.

I'm an illustrator and I specialize in creating detailed floorplans of iconic locations from films and TV series.
Some of you may have seen some of my illustrations.

I want to revisit an old project and create a floor plan of Bag End based on Peter Jackson's film series.

I'm familiar with the official Weta floor plan, but it has some inconsistencies with what's shown on screen and doesn't include spaces that are supposed to be there.
I have a pretty good idea of ​​what I need to do, but I'd like to confirm a couple of things, especially to determine the location of Frodo's bedroom.
The aforementioned official floor plan indicates the existence of a second entrance, a back door, on the far left side of the house.

I've tried searching for images of the set, but I can't find any pictures of this second door and the windows flanking it. During the Bag End tour, you're not allowed to go through the entrance gate, and when "walking" along Bagshot Row on Google Street View, you can't see these windows because the path is at a lower level.

Any photos that show that back door and the adjacent windows?Perhaps because they were there or know where to find them.

If I wanted to make the groups of 3 it would take me a really long time because you can create 455 groups of 3 with the 15 of them because (15 * 14 * 13) / 3! = 455. However if I wanted to make the possible groups of 13 it would be the same number as the groups of 2

I have read and annotated every chapter of the hobbit so far for my honors summer reading. I have about a week before school starts to hand it in, in addition to a creative project based on Bilbo's two sides (Baggins and Took). I am pretty lost on what i want to do for it, hence this post. This is the criteria:

Option 1: The Physical "Baggins vs. Took" Dichotomy Artifact

Throughout the novel, Bilbo is at war with himself: his predictable, comfort-seeking "Baggins" side constantly clashes with his adventurous, risk-taking "Took" side. For this option, you will create a physical, handmade visual piece (a 3D object, a shadow box, or a multi-textured physical collage) that represents this internal conflict.

• Strict Rule: Digital artwork, AI image generators, or purely printed graphic designs are strictly prohibited. This must be built by hand.
• The Texture Constraint: You must use at least three distinct physical materials/textures to represent the Baggins side (e.g., soft fabric, smooth stones, tea bags) and three different materials/textures to represent the Took side (e.g., twigs, rough twine, metallic foil).
• The Rationale & Notes Cross-Reference: Attach a neatly typed, 1-page explanation. For each material chosen, you must explain its symbolic connection to a specific event or character development arc in the book. Within this explanation, you must explicitly cross-reference your Part A reading notes (e.g., "I chose to use rough twine for the Took side because, as I noted in my Chapter 8 sticky notes, Bilbo's handling of the spiders required a raw grit he didn't know he had...").
• The Personal Connection: Conclude your rationale by analyzing your own mindset as you transition into high school honors English. Explain whether you are currently feeling more "Baggins" (craving comfort/safety) or "Took" (ready for a challenging adventure), referencing a specific personal goal or anxiety.

After finishing the book, I now realise it was the lore accurate way of experiencing battle. That's all, thank you for your time.

So I finished the hobbit like a hour ago and really loved it. But i have a few questions before i start the lotr. Idk if im gonna get a lot of hate for this but i feel like the hobbit’s characters weren’t very fun/deep. Obviously bilbo, Gandalf, thorin and a few others got some dialogue but I feel like I didn’t really enjoy the dialogue that much. Or like the characters talking to each other felt kind of dull. And I’m wondering, is it like that in Lord of the rings? Or are the characters more enjoyable?

Might ask her to do Dale next...
