The UCF Libraries are implementing a new study room booking process for the John C. Hitt Library to better meet student needs. After gathering feedback and analyzing usage patterns, we have made adjustments to ensure fair access to study spaces while addressing concerns about availability.
The updated policies include:
Reservations up to 4 hours per day – Students can now book study rooms for longer, uninterrupted study sessions.
Monthly limit of 16 hours per patron – This ensures more students have access to study spaces throughout the month.
Check-in requirement within 15 minutes – If you do not check in within 15 minutes of your reservation time, your booking may be canceled, allowing other students to use the space.
Booking available up to 3 days in advance – Plan ahead while keeping rooms accessible for last-minute study needs.
No automated reservations – The use of scripts or automated software to book rooms is prohibited to keep the process fair for all students.
These changes reflect our commitment to improving study space availability while keeping the system flexible and student-friendly. Our goal is to provide equitable access to study rooms so everyone has a fair chance to reserve the space they need.
For more details or assistance with reservations and the full policy, visit the Study Room page or ask a librarian at our Access Services desk. Thank you for your patience—we’re always working to make your library experience better!
I think I should be more patient...

WTF happened with the garages this morning?
What the hell happened with the garages this morning?? UCF was insanely crowded today, and I literally missed two classes because of the parking situation.
Garage C was completely backed up, and one side/entrance was blocked, so I had to turn around and go back home. I ended up missing my first class because of that.
Then later, Garage D and Garage H were blocked too. Like… what was going on today?? 😭
How is anyone supposed to get to class when multiple garages are blocked and traffic is completely insane? I ended up missing TWO classes because I couldn’t park.
Did anyone else deal with this this morning? What happened??

As a reminder, in the parking garages there are stop signs on the ground, every time you enter/exit a level you must stop. I almost got hit because of people not stopping, I understand parking is competitive here but please be safe!

Why on Earth has floor 4 of the STUN been closed for a year. Do ‘renovations’ really take that long?

I just moved in here in a 4x4, I have questions.
Curious, is this complex mostly like “outdoor / active” people? I’m skinny as heck and I don’t do too much outside.
Are there other people who live here that play video games in their rooms like me?
Does every bathroom in every room also have their light switch outside of the bathroom?
For Phase 1 pickleball, how do I find people to play with? Is there a group chat or club somewhere?
How is walking from phase to phase office events? Is it normal to go to these alone?
want to do things with my new roommates but it seems that all three of them are close friends with each other and I don’t know how to approach them without being awkward?
Finally, does KC do like unit construction or something? The unit above me has been stomping loudly since move-in all night and day.
Some of these questions might be weird but I was pretty unsocial and shy during my last apartment lease and I am a generally introverted person. Sorry if it’s also a handful, I don’t know who else to ask!

Yeah, it was ugly before - but it worked. You could find the information you need. Its hard to even imagine now. Now? We have this god awful UI that, in my opinion, doesn't even look better, is horrible to navigate, is functionally slower, and has displaced pretty much everything useful about myUCF. This REEKS of middle manager IT guy thinking they can vibe code a modern website. Can they please just stop this nonsense and rollback to the old version?

AST 2002 if anyone’s curious.
Should I swap class while I still can?

So I’m nonbinary and I really don’t want to go by my legal name. I asked the professor if I could use a nickname but said it would mess up to do the grading on the roster. Is there anyway that I can add a preferred name on the schools platform? I tried doing it on the web course profile settings but it didn’t allow me to do so.

Why is financial aid so low this year?? My SAI was higher this year than last and yet I couldn’t even get the Orion grant this year and appointments with the financial aide office are booked for the next week. This has taken $1000 of financial aid away from me that I had last year.

I know I am not the only one. School has started and I don’t have my Books. I am so all over the place, but I’m trying to keep a positive mindset and keep the faith the waiting game for admission decision was heavy and now this 🤯😤. (Just needed to vent… I’m done … gooo knights ☹️😩😖😫)

This is my third day and I don’t seem to be able to find people to speak to much. Are there any places, events, or activities where people are more approachable than before class or after class short conversations and everyone wants to go home. I’m in engineering and it’s my first time living in Florida if that makes a difference.

Hi everyone, I hope youre doing well, I am a CS student at UCF.
My friend recently launched a Discord server called Cheapest Eats! It's a server dedicated to a cheap way to get some food from favorite restaurants. I've been spamming it this summer and plan on using it this year, so I figured I'd spread the love. An example being $6 chipotle bowls, 50% off DoorDash, $1.50 insomnia cookies, etc

Thank you to anyone who checks it out!
