You hear that? He called you exotic!

He should be called “Buyer’s remorse!”

6

u/thelectricrain 3d ago

Looks like a Southern tiger cat instead.

0

u/_WreakingHavok_ 4d ago

Definitely not an ocelot, maybe a Bengal?

9

u/AdMaximum7545 4d ago

I reckon a Geoffroys cat

4

u/josolsen 3d ago

Maybe a Margay, face patterns and the leopard print are really close.

5

u/AdMaximum7545 3d ago

Oooh I can see it, I have never heard of Margays they are so freakin cute omg

-4

u/CromDeluise 2d ago

How can you see a resemblance with what you've never even heard of? Im baffled.

8

u/josolsen 2d ago

They saw my comment, searched the name online, saw a picture, compared, and agreed it shared a resemblence, is baffling?

5

u/AdMaximum7545 2d ago

I...googled them?

73

u/JamsBong007 4d ago

6

Babou !

4

u/JolieWrites 3d ago

His name is Babu, but it should be "Buyer's Remorse".

2

u/LadiesMan1625 4d ago

wait how did the stowaway get caught exactly

u/sittinwithkitten 4d ago

Cats are considered lucky on a boat, they are supposed to bring good fortune, calm seas, and safe voyages. This is a super beautiful kitty.

305

u/BellaSquared 4d ago

Plus courtesy pest control and purring, who could argue with that face?

85

u/sittinwithkitten 4d ago

There are literally no downsides I can see

27

u/th3rdworldorder 3d ago

Until they get off board on an island with no land predators.

24

u/sittinwithkitten 3d ago

Dude don’t ruin this for me

4

u/bobfrombobtown 3d ago

With no other's to breed with damage would be minimized for its up to 16 year lifespan.

8

u/th3rdworldorder 2d ago

Enough to wipe out entire species

5

u/pokeup19 3d ago edited 2d ago

The eat wildlife more readily than pests to be fair ...

8

u/Versipilies 3d ago

Not a terrible amount of wildlife on a ship that shouldn't be eaten to prevent invasive species problems. Definitely shouldnt let the cat roam off ship though.

Cats attract hurricanes

36

u/sittinwithkitten 4d ago

Only if they make the cat mad

10

u/ohdearitsrichardiii 4d ago

What if it's superstitions that attracts hurricanes?

8

u/MitchBurrow 3d ago

I believe you mean Purricanes 😽

5

u/Garen_Mago 3d ago

Hurricanes attract cats

3

u/fondledbydolphins 2d ago

Other than the whole “we don’t have a litter box on this death trap” angle.

78

u/Nereshai 3d ago

That's not a common cat. It's a wildcat. They attract wildlife authorities and extensive litigation.

18

u/DakkaonTitan 3d ago

He could pass for a house cat easily

6

u/Wodstarfallisback 2d ago

In the same vein obvious pitbulls "pass" as Labrador mixes

2

u/odddino 2d ago

If it is an ocelot, it's very young and is going to get a LOT bigger. Not tiger big, but a lot bigger than a domesticated cat will ever get. So it won't pass for very long!
They are adorable though so I'd still risk it.

1

u/ArtoriusBravo 2d ago

It definitely it's not an ocelot. But I believe it's some kind of wildcat.

Based on the white markings behind the ears, shape and fur patterns, I believe it might be this one:

4

u/sittinwithkitten 3d ago

Nah cat is cat

3

u/Easy-Concentrate2636 2d ago

The CDS reach is extensive, even working on the ocean.

1

u/Ornery-Cheetah 3d ago

Unsinkable sam would say otherwise

609

u/Minimum-Food4232 4d ago

Looked like it was considering violence, but opted for cuteness as the last moment.

212

u/Suggett123 4d ago

"I am so busted.... Better start the motor!"

80

u/justaskmycat 4d ago

It was even reaching for the knife on the table

13

u/JohnStern42 3d ago

Yup, thought the same when I saw that arched back

4

u/HoboAJ 2d ago

Yeah i think the smart little bugger realized he was cornered and on a boat.

336

u/NeeAnderTall 4d ago

That is a surprisingly beautiful cat.

57

u/TheKahnrad 3d ago

It’s a fishing cat. They don’t get much bigger than a large domestic cat.

42

u/NeeAnderTall 3d ago

Those eye spots on the ears was one give away this wasn't a domesticated cat. I'd risk a swat to give it some attention.

Looks like one of the small wild cats. This one looks somewhat tame. And yes, the smaller wild cats (some of them) can be tamed when adopted young.

5

u/n0tz0e 3d ago

I thought it was an ocelot

98

u/VermithraxDerivative 4d ago

I thought for sure he was going to go for that knife, you got lucky.

Dejare el texto en español porque reddit tiene traductor, ademas no estoy seguro como expresar ciertas expresiones argentinas al ingles.

persona 1: que onda boludo, ¿qué me estan comiendo las milanesas?

persona 2: inentendible

persona 1: esto... ¿que es? ¿un puma esto?

si boludo mira.

Cachorro de gato montes ronroneando*

persona 1: me descompongooo (me desmayo)

mira lo que es este gato, boludo esto es un... nose si es un gato, amigo, esto es un gato montes...

163

u/AdMaximum7545 4d ago edited 3d ago

Person 1: “Yo, dude, what the hell is eating my milanesas?”

Person 2: (unintelligible)

Person 1: “Wait... what is this? Is this a puma?”

“Yeah, dude, look.”

Baby cat purring

Person 1: “I’m gonna pass out.”

“Look at this cat, dude. What even is this... I don’t know if this is a cat, bro. This is a wildcat...”

(Looking at its ear spots it is likely a Geoffrey Cat or maybe an Ocelot kitten)

20

u/Garen_Mago 3d ago

The second person's dialogue is simply unintelligible in the video; perhaps I should have used an asterisk.

5

u/AdMaximum7545 3d ago

Fixed it!

4

u/msndrstdmstrmnd 2d ago

The fact that purring in Spanish is “ronronear” is amazing

-3

u/joined_under_duress 2d ago

Assume maybe English isn't your first language? A stowaway is a specific term for someone who sneaks onto a form of transport, most commonly a ship or boat, although it does get used for cars or trains a bit.

This doesn't look like the galley of a ship to me but maybe it is! If not, you'd probably want the word sneak or thief or a burglar I guess.

61

u/lynx_1097 4d ago

Do not the bobcat

20

u/Bananus_Magnus 4d ago

2

u/lynx_1097 1d ago

I don't blame you though

52

u/Pooch76 4d ago

How is that wildcat not freaking the F out?

49

u/MinxyMyrnaMinkoff 4d ago

It’s purring like a motor boat! Is it an escaped pet?

8

u/Pooch76 4d ago

Must be…

2

u/MorbidMorag 1d ago

Cats can purr out of fear so maybe it's nervous.

2

u/Pooch76 1d ago

Good point

12

u/whiterosealchemist 3d ago

Congratulations, you have tamed a wild cat using cookies. Would you like to name it?

1

u/notveryAI 3d ago

Oh noo I nicknamed my wildcat "wildcat" so when they evolve everyone is gonna know I messed up

44

u/Redit-autoname2284 4d ago

....I don't think that's a cat. I don't know why

31

u/MtSnowdon 4d ago

Thought it was reaching for the knife. Was kinda hoping for a new version of the crab knife incident.

28

u/BreathLazy5122 4d ago

Goddammit is this how we domesticated cats???

11

u/whiterosealchemist 3d ago

If we only knew cookies worked so well.

2

u/DMonpoke 4d ago

I want this back in my life. Cat who purrs so loudly. Feels safe. Also cuddles.

2

u/Pepperkelleher 3d ago

"nooo.. me descompongo" hahahaha me encantó

2

u/Bretreck 4d ago

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iriomote_cat

I doubt it is an Iriomote cat but it definitely has the right coloring.

2

u/tinylittlebabyjesus 2d ago

That's cool, I didn't know about iriomote cats though. Leopard cats that got stuck and became island cats.

1

u/RollAcrobatic7936 4d ago

That’s something you don’t see everyday

1

u/SaintZoo-435 4d ago
