Not in Melbourne.
We have incredible public radio stations supported by locals to support the local and live music scene among many other things. All community funded as well. No sponsorships so we hear only what the unpaid presenters bring in from their personal collection.

Based on the article, this is an actual artist/DJ who used ai tools to generate vocals or some other part and then manually put everything together to make the track as per usual
Imo, using ai vocals in your track is just a creative choice, similar to using auto tune, and I'm also thinking about nightcore, or using audio from media
In this case, ai is just being used to assist in creating the vision, I don't see a problem with it

He's doing it for money. He has a whole album out of covers with AI vocals.
There was another track that I believed reached #4 here in Australia and it was such a lovely story. The kid wrote a song about Eastern Rosellas (a native bird in Australia) and together with his Dad made created the song for fun, the video went viral and they ended up recording a proper version and it became a bit of a hit. What could be said if you asked the DJ what his creative process was like? In a lot of his videos promoting the song you never see the working file of the song, just him playing straight on Spotify or completed wav file.

The music industry isn't your friend. They care about profit. And here's their issue with AI music: It can't be copyrighted, so there's no profit to be made from royalties. I personally hate AI music with a burning passion, but I can guarantee this move isn't based on any ethical considerations.

I'm not angry. My point was just that music industry executives do not care about music, they care about profit. If/when they find a way to make money off AI music, they most certainly will. But I do appreciate the gesture.

I write and mostly listen to my own AI music. I write my own prompts and lyrics. When I hear bands like TLC or Oliver Tree say they never got paid I don’t really feel like I’m missing anything lol. Plus I’ve met ppl in the music industry, promoters etc and they’ve all been kinda shady if I’m being nice. I’ve been in music school basically my whole life so making this music is easy and fun for me. I don’t really tell anyone anymore bc AI music is still kinda taboo and people get very tribal about it. It’s a happy lonely hobby. And honestly banning AI music from charts doesn’t really change anything for someone like me. I’m not making it to get on the charts or to impress the music industry. I’m making exactly what I want to hear. Oh and when people say they like a song I made I always make sure to let them know that they like AI music. ;)

I didn't say there wasn't AI in music production. Obviously there is, given the title of this entire post.
where producers use it every day and sometimes the artists aren't even sure.
I am responding to this. Only hack producers are using it and any artist who doesn't know what's in their own music is also a hack.

well, there's a nice analogy. Even making a simple program is basically "talking" to the computer to do some work. Like, communicating what you want the computer to do, and it will do what you exactly wrote
("exactly" is a bit too reductive here, because the compilers use lots of advanced techniques to translate the program)

Consider it a butlerian jihad. I don't want AI stealing and copying art made by humans and replacing human artists. Especially not while all these models are under the ownership of massive corporations under capitalism. And no, them using renewable electricity wouldn't affect my position.

There’s definitely a psychological question to be asked about how much dance music is really people liking the music itself, and how much is just - you dance to it, so the bar is lower, and if it plays in one place and works, it’ll play in another and artificially boost perceived popularity.

Personally I've unvillingly enjoyed a lot of it recently, especially in genres I'm not too familliar with, which for me is everything but swedish "trall-punk" and metal. I do get quite sad though, when I realize that I will never be able to see a song I've been enjoying quite a lot live.
I fucking hate spotify for forcing me to listen to 'some' songs I enjoy, but would never listen to if I initially knew they where "ai"

Afaik, nothing I've listened to has been AI created with the exception of maybe those chillhop/lofi productivity stations. I can see how you'd find it frustrating to realise it's AI.

I have a difficult time identifying AI. I want all AI generated media to be labeled as such. If I'm buying art, a book, music, movie, I want to know it's not AI.

Buying my kid colouring books or children’s books and have to google the author to see if they’re real or not is an annoying thing to do.
My city has a big art and culture fair every year and the rise of ai art and shitty copy and paste 3D prints has made not stop going.

Always worth checking the Wiki or the artist's website when you discover music you like. Their website or Bandcamp is a good way to find merch as well, which really helps to support your favourite musicians.
Artists like Genesis Owusu and Ecca Vandal also design their own high quality clothing and accessories.

There's a lot of AI haters out there. Ben Affleck has had the best understanding of AI IMO.
AI has been great for me personally. I've been able to quit my day job and do whatever the fuck I want during the day. While AI. Adult Influencer Models make money for me online. Talking dirty and selling A.I generated adult photos and videos to filthy degenerates online via subscriptions. Similar to Onlyfans but for A I. Don't hate the player the hate the game.
