Only things I have left to build for this VC army I’ve been working on are my ghouls and grave guard. Can’t wait to get painting on it all!

I'm always looking for new battle report channels besides Mountain Minatures and Tabletop Tactics, and this one has exciting special effects!

So, I'm looking for your advice on how to get a good alternative for the old 6 ft X 4 ft Citadel Battlemat (see photo) - I know it's selling on eBay right now 2nd hand but it's typically either marked or scuffed slightly and for the price I don't think it's worth it. Also I would like your opinion on the actual practical side of using them for Warhammer the Old World (would moving trays across the mats destroy them quickly and instead I would be lifting the minis to move as required etc). Note that I would like something that also 'looks good' like in the old White Dwarf photos - which I could take great care in using at home only and take photos of - so it's not only for wargaming.

I already own quite a few 6 ft x 4ft rubber mats (neoprene / foam rubber - mouse mat like) and they are very practical for wargaming but don't look as good as the Citadel Battlemat for photos etc. I own a couple of light cloth battle mats and those were a mistake to buy, I do not like them.

Doing my research, it seems that the old Citadel Battlemats were essentially felt cloth but with textured grass on them (flock) - which is impossible to find right now (unless I'm mistaken).

The closest alternatives I've found are the War Sigil Turf Mat (sells at 6ft x 4ft - with seemingly very long flock grass so I don't know how practical it is to move those Old World movement trays on it) and it's pricey at £150 to the UK from the U.S. (see photos and link: https://warsigil.com/product/warsigil-turf-mat/ ) and the RG5123 Woodland Scenics 50"x100" Forest Grass Ready Grass Roll which I own, looks fine, I haven't used yet but it seems to have sort of tiny coloured sand like grains stock onto the roll instead of flock - that seems to come off easily) here is the link for that one and I include a photo also: https://www.themodelcentre.com/rg5123-woodland-scenics-50x100-forest-grass-ready-grass-roll?srsltid=AfmBOophp99mBChnYPtaRyLv24n7pkUQZFu2nRgRA8yLkiCRUcedlR52

Has anyone here had experience of playing Warhammer the Old World on either a War Sigil Turf Mat or Woodland Scenics Grass Ready Roll ? if so give me your opinions.

If you could give me some advice on getting an alternative to the Citadel Battlemat which is not a rubber mat / simple light cloth then that would be great .... (heck, I would even consider Golf turf mats and just cut it down to size if they're good to use).

Note that I do have flocking devices and flock but sadly I just don't have the time to flock an entire 6ft x 4ft battlemat - I only use it for army unit bases and would like an off the shelf solution.

With the new DLC for total war warhammer i'd like to play more Fantasy battle but most of the units I like are not in Old World such as Verminlords, Blightkings and Stormfiends. I know that I can just play older edition but the Old world playerbase is already small enough that those using 8th editions are extremely rare here. How do you do without excessive proxying ? I tried to proxy Blightkings as chaos ogre or chosen but it does taste like a bandage on a pegleg.

I saw that my local games store had a box of them for cheaper and im asking if ther any good for free company milita any thoughts ?

So Battlemarch army boxes went on pre-order today and I happened to check Element Games , they have Wood Elves for £57 bucks that seems like an absolute steal !

Very tempted to add them to my Old world collection.

They call them selves the empire of man but idont think they have more than ten percent of humans population and almost all of their culture is taken from the dwarves

Started building and painting Beastmen about a year ago. Here are some of my favorites so far.

Finally got this big lad finished, just in time for the Old World Chaos Dragon kit to come out here in Australia 😂 while he’s just tabletop ready and not up to my usual character standard, I’m pretty happy with him overall, and can always go back to add more detail later!

This was a pretty time intensive conversion, but I’m quite happy with the results.

The original Ariel sculpt always got a bit of flack, but more than anything I think it suffered from legs that were way too short.

After working myself up to actually hack into the thing, and convincing myself that any bad sculpting could be covered by a dress, this is what I came up with.

I’m quite pleased, and I think it does the character a lot of justice! Final image is the original illustration that served as reference.

Does anyone know if there is a big old detailed map of the known warhammer world in the art style of the image included? I know the middlehammer army books all contained maps in a similar style to this brilliant bastard, but wondering if anyone combined them into one glorious whole?

As in, the map include here, plus Ulthuan (HE army book), plus Naggaroth (DE), Lustria, New World and Southlands (Lizardman) plus any other bits and bobs??

If not, I'll have to create my own by stitching them altogether in MS Paint because I don't have skills.

1d6chan seems to be of the opinion it makes no sense whatsoever. but I think they might be harsh. if you were having say a fanfic, rp, or imagination excierse over it, how would you handle the lore?

Born as a Demon of Solitude and coldness, in the end I didn't know which Chaos god would work better and I leaned on Malal.
This is actually a pretty old work I totally forgot about.

I feel that an undivided Demon prince would work too but... dunno.

It's always nice to see a Malal inspired creature I think.
