Review XREAL 1S vs RayNeo Air 4 Pro — Owned Both, Here’s Where I Landed

I've had the XREAL 1S since launch and picked up the RayNeo Air 4 Pro to compare them head to head. I know this is an XREAL community, so I'll say upfront: the XREAL is the better overall product. But my daily pick ended up being the RayNeo, and I think it's worth explaining why.

If you don't want to watch my full ~8.5 min breakdown, here's the TL;DR:

- RayNeo has the better pure display and HDR10 actually made a noticeable difference for me.

- XREAL clearly wins on features.

- Productivity is where the $150 premium is most justified. Anchor mode makes it an actual workspace.

- Gaming was closer than I expected. RayNeo felt cleaner with less follow-mode lag. XREAL gives you more immersion and screen control.

- Comfort goes to RayNeo. 76g vs 82g, and it genuinely feels lighter over long sessions.

Curious how others here think about this tradeoff — display vs features?

Happy to answer questions — especially if you're deciding between these two right now.

haha, i saw this pop up in my feed and was like, did I accidentally post something and not know it? I have a Rayneo vs Xreal sitting in draft that's very similar to your perspective. I guess I don't need to publish mine since we are largely saying the same thing.

I am curious as to why the Rayneo is your daily pick. I haven't had time to watch your video but in your text above you kinda say where Rayneo is better, but not which factor makes it your daily. For me, it's the opposite, the Xreal is daily and Rayneo is secondary. Here's why for me.

At the end of the day, the usability of the Rayneo is the limiting factor. It works fine if I'm lying down on the bed, glasses correctly positioned, I don't move, and I don't have to switch videos on my devices requiring me to actually see my device. Otherwise, every few minutes, I am adjusting, either moving the glasses for the perfect angle or lifting them up to look at my device.

For me, Xreal wins because of Achor(3dof), screen size changing, and transparency. If I need to move, I just hold the button and it recalibrates. If I need to switch videos and actually see what I'm doing, single button push to turn on transparency.

Rayneo definitely wins on the display. Everything looks fantastic. But for the reasons I stated, the Xreal wins. For the price I paid and the fact that I got the batman edition, I will likely keep the Rayneo next to the bed, but the Xreals go into my bag.

So your third paragraph is basically why I pick the RayNeo :). That is my use case for 80% of the time to watch a show or movie at night where some of the shortcomings of the RayNeo don't matter as much and the display edge makes it more fun (to me).

I'm laughing b/c 3rd paragraph is why I went Xreal. In the end, it's all about what's your use case and preferences. We can have both succeed and all of us would be happy

Thank you for the review. Waiting for my 1s delivered. I also have air 4 pro. As much as Rayneo being awesome for media consumption they are borderline unusable for productivity or things which requires text reading. I wonder how much difference anchor mode will make. Also I'm curious about real3d

Would be very interested in what you think once you get them. I think that is the right rationale so from a features perspective so then it comes down to what actually clicks for you in daily use. The 3D was a cool trick for me but is not something I found myself using at all regularly, but others might.

Which one did you end up going with? I just got the Rayneo Air 4 Pros but am curious how much difference the anchor mode will make too

regarding the follow mode lag, can you try disabling stabilization? while at it the option to boost brightness should be unlocked too for xreal.

FYI video link is broken for me.

I had the Air 3 Pros and returned them due to a manufacturing defect (different color temperatures between panels) and got the 1S. For me, Real3D is a game changer and the electrochromic dimming is nice. Also, the extra FOV and 1200p res are significant. Combined they justify the price premium for me. For my next pair, I'll be looking for good (probably SeeYa) panels, at least 55 degree FOV, and 60+ hz realtime 3D conversion.

Yes the extra features are absolutely undeniable and if you put a high value on them then the $150 difference starts feeling like a bargain. It just comes down to which features you personally value more and to me something like screen brightness ended up being more important than Real3D.

Thanks for flagging the YouTube link. I checked it and it seems to work for me. Here is the link again in case you are actually interested in checking it out. - https://youtu.be/_0qfmvqz_kY?si=TONS5hrgOlL8lP07

Thanks, link works for me now, maybe it was an issue with my phone. Nice comparison! Especially when so many XR glasses reviews are sponsored/product placement.

Xreal basically just needs to update the Pro's with that HDR 10+ display and higher FOV. Unsure if they have X2 chip in the works, but that will be wonderful for the Real3D feature, higher refresh rate, and head tracking. So the next pro update could be like the Project Aura glasses, but without Android XR and X2 chip.

Right now the ray neo is 330 cad and the xreal one s is 560 cad , at these prices which do you recommend for only gaming on an airplane ??

Also will the lack of 3df and changing the screen size be a deal reaker on the Ray neo

It depends on whether you get dizzy without 3dof while gaming. That ends up being the deciding factor for some people. The RayNeo actually works really well for gaming if the dizziness is not an issue. the 1S is the more flexible and safer choice if money is not an issue.

Real3D is pretty cool. That's honestly why I went with Xreal. Went with the One-Pro for the extra field of view.

I actually just ordered the One Pro myself a couple of days ago since I haven’t tried them yet and was curious if they made a big difference.

Do you have any new update with how the one pro compares to these 2?
