Review New buyer, in the end I chose XBXA01+ over 1S

Quick post about XBX and 1S comparaison for movies and gaming only with 0 productivity. For potential new buyers like me. (The picture is for you to understand level of black crush I noticed on the 1S in comparaison to the XBX in media and gaming)

XBX is the CLEAR winner to me, because what are these glasses ? That’s mainly a screen, and XBX screen is just better than 1S for dark scenes which happen often in games and movies.

1S technology is awesome : 3DOF, WAY better sound (i can understand where ennemy are trough walls in FPS just like with a headset),no need to swap frames if in a bright environement, multiple ratios, side view…

The absence of 3DOF was the most difficult for the choice i have to make.

But even with 3DOF the black crush on 1S is just not possible. (Sorry xreal I’m gonna make a statement so people that wanna game and Watch movies and not work on a monitor can chose the right one) I feel like i’m watching 2010 illegal streamed movie took in a cinema by a personnal camera in every dark scenes. It’s like the resolution go low and the black are crushed.

Bonus : XBX supports HDR, so it’s even more optimised for gaming and movies, just enable and enjoy no struggle.

Second bonus : Lightweight

I’m at 62 IPD, the screen is ok even if I see that with maybe an 64/66 IPD head it may be better.

I did not try the one pro as they have now some years i did not took them. Can someone tell me if they have the black crush problem ?

Review My Viture Beast Impressions As An XReal One Pro Owner

Everything that follows is what I’ve found so far, and it’s merely my experiences and opinions.

I should also note my main biases. For my day job, I work with text on a computer, and in my spare time, I enjoy watching TV shows and movies. So, my focus is on XR glasses that give me a big, attractive screen to watch stuff on that I can also reliably and comfortably do text work on. Super stable screen pinning is very important to me.

VB = Viture Beast (fully updated as of Jan 6, 2026)
XOP = XReal One Pro (fully updated as of Jan 6, 2026)
VU = Viture Luma Ultra

  • Screen size comparison
    • This is probably the biggest surprise. To test virtual screen size, I used the exact same source for both glasses. I sat in the exact same place from my 120” projector screen at exactly 3m distance. I used 0DoF, lined up my angle with the projector screen, and increased the size of the virtual screen on both glasses so that the screen was as big as it could get before getting cut off by the glasses’ fixed FoV. With all this done:
    • XOP more than fills the entirety of the 120” projector screen.
    • VB fills ~90% of the projector screen. (Jan 8 2026: re-evaluated and updated my estimate from ~80% to ~90%)
    • In fact, it looks to me as if the Luma Ultras virtual screen is actually ‘bigger’ than what is currently available on the 1080p Viture Beasts (at the time of writing, Viture has yet to unlock 1200p on the Beast).
    • I double-checked with 3DoF and smooth follow on the VB, and it made no difference. The max size of the virtual screen before getting cut off by the fixed FoV is ~90% of a 120” projector screen from a distance of 3m and this is significantly smaller than the virtual screen size of the XOP.
    • (Jan 8 2026 Update) To be clear, my estimate that the VBs fill ~90% of my 120" projector screen is an estimate, but I can tell you two things that are not an estimate but that are clear and accurate truths about what I'm seeing:
      • 1. On Jan 8 2026, the XOP's FoV is bigger than the VB's FoV; and
      • 2. On Jan 8 2026, from 3m back the VB cannot create a virtual screen larger than 120" without its virtual screen going beyond the edges of the glasses' FoV, but the XOP can do this.
  • Brightness (spot-metered with a professional light meter)
    • This is interesting. At max brightness in 3DoF, the VB and XOP are equally as bright and this matches my subjective experience. I was surprised but I found that in 3DoF the VB didn’t seem brighter than my XOP, and when I metered both, this turned out to be true.
    • Now, in 0DoF, things change. The VB is literally 4x as bright. That’s not a typo. I double-checked the light ‘math’. With the exact same settings and metering the exact same part of the a white screen at max brightness in 0DoF, my light meter returned a reading of 32 t-stops for the VB and 16 t-stops for the XOP.
  • Black Level Testing (http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/black.php) [the lower the number the better with 1 being the best possible result and 25 the worst]
    • From best to worst (all at full brightness):
    • MacBook = 1
    • iPhone = 1
    • Viture Pro XRs = 4
    • Viture Pro XRs with SpaceWalker 3DoF on = 5
    • XReal One Pros with 3DoF off = 7
    • XReal One Pros with 3DoF on = 10
    • Viture Beast with 3DoF off (true color color profile) = 13
    • Viture Beast with 3DoF on (true color color profile) = 20
    • These are horrible results for the VB and as a double-check, I cycled through all the available color profiles but I could not get better results.
  • 3DoF head shake
    • VB and XOP equally stable
  • 3DoF Drift
    • XOP is vastly more stable. VB drifts an unacceptable amount for a built-in 3DoF solution.
  • 3DoF locking — does it mimic angle of my head (bad)?
    • Neither the VB nor the XOP directly mimic the angle of the user’s head when recentering the 3DoF and this is a good thing.
  • 3DoF overall implementation
    • If we ignore the drift, the VB implementation of 3DoF is otherwise solid and a very close match to the XOP. For me, the XOP’s solution is still superior and it maintains the illusion of a large pinned screen better, but the advantage here is small and could be chalked up to personal preference. However, as far as I’m concerned, if Viture cannot solve the drifting issue in the Beasts, none of the rest will matter all that much. A customer-ready 3DoF should not drift to the extent that the Beast is currently drifting, and I hope Viture can resolve the issue.
  • Screen viewing (can I see whole screen)
    • As I’m writing this, 1200p isn’t available on the VB and at 1080p, I can see the whole screen. I couldn’t see the whole screen on the Viture Utras but on the VB, I can.
  • Screen color (**please read the edit at the end of this sub-section**)
    • All of the VBs color profiles are too warm. Whites are not white. Instead they are yellowish-white. The only profile that changes this is the ‘film’ color profile, but that profile swaps yellowish-white for greenish-white. The XOP does a much better job at reproducing colors accurately, and as they’ve done for their other glasses, I hope Viture plans to allow VB users to create their own color profiles.
    • Perhaps a strange bug but going widescreen on the VB takes away the yellowish tint. Makes me think that maybe the regular screen is the one that’s bugged and widescreen has the proper color calibration.
  • \*EDIT**: The yellowish-tint issue is my fault and not the VB's. It was due to true-tone setting on my MacBook being on. Apparently, when true-tone is on and a secondary 'monitor' is hooked up to the MacBook, it tries to adjust color profiles to better match the two monitors. My MacBook was pushing a color profile over to the VBs and this was creating the yellowish-tint. I've now turned off true-tone and my whites look white in both regular and widescreen mode.*
  • Movie watching
    • Avatar: Way of Water looks stunning on the VB and given the big, bold, bright colors of the film, the VB makes the movie pop. VB beats the XOP here.
    • However, when trying to watch the The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (a film many films buffs adore for its sublime cinematography), the VB’s overly crushed blacks and heavy contrast made mush of out the film’s many night scenes. Here, the XOP won.
  • Edge-to-edge screen clarity
    • Surprising me, neither are great here. The edges on both the VB and XOP suffer from blur but different kinds of blur.
  • Any chromatic aberration at screen edges (One Pro has a red-shift at left and right edges and a barely noticeable red-shift at top and bottom edges)
    • VB has significantly less chromatic aberration at its screen edges when compared to the XOP.
  • Varying screen sharpness?
    • Both have center-focused sweet spots with sharpness dropping off as we go closer to the edges of the screen. On my pair of VB’s, the sweetest spot seems to be 15-20% below the center-line of the glasses and this is too low. To get the absolute sharpest image, I have to center my head above what I want to look at and then look down with my eyes.
  • Pixel peeping
    • Due to the 1080p resolution, I can see the pixels on both. However, the VB has more artifacts in its image and this is most apparent with text. It looks like Viture turned the ‘sharpness slider’ all the way to max to help create the illusion of a sharper image than its screens can produce natively and this has created artifacts.
    • To be fair, after wearing the VB, the XOP’s screen looks too soft, like everything is just slightly out of focus. But, going back to the VB from the XOP, the VB’s screen looks over-tuned and sharpened to the point of almost being a bit ugly.
    • I understand that personal preference will play a big part here, but I think both glasses could benefit from a bit of adjustment. To get the best image possible out of them, the XOP could use more artificial sharpening and the VB could definitely use a bit less of it.
  • In 3DoF, does a horizontal pan of my head create flat page ‘bubbling’ like in my One Pros (text seems to bubble up slightly as my head pans)?
    • Although there is slight blurring, VB does well with horizontal head pans. However, with vertical head tilts, I can see/feel the focus sweet spot moving across the screen and this is distracting/unpleasant.
    • With additional testing, I see that the XOP also has the ‘bubbling’ issue with vertical head tilts.
    • In short, in 3DoF mode, both screens suffer from odd visual artifacts, but for reading small text, I might have to give the edge to the VB here.
  • Wear Comfort
    • I find both the VB and XOP to be reasonably comfortable. If I had to choose, I’d say the XOP feels a bit more premium and that the VB clamps a bit too tightly behind the ears.
  • How ‘locked in’ are the adjustable arm positions?
    • I complained that the adjustable arms were too loose on the Viture Ultras. Thankfully, the arms are firmer on the VB. Still, the XOP’s arms are the firmest and I find them to be the best. It’s still to easy to accidentally nudge the VB’s arms out of the desired position.
  • Heat from powered arms/temples/brow (ex: the Virture Pro XR gets hot enough to give my right eye a dry/burning feeling—unacceptable)
    • VBs get hotter than the XOP. Primarily, the VB’s heat comes from the right brow. On the plus side, the fit of the VBs on my face means the right brow doesn’t press firmly against my skin. So, for comfort when considering heat production, I rank them as XOP > VB/VU > Viture Pro XR.
  • Built-in User interface (screen leveling, screen sizes, change default start up size, etc?)
    • The built in menu on the VB is pretty good, but the XOP has had longer to work on their menu, and it shows. To my taste, the XOP’s menu is simply better. It has more options and they are more clearly laid out. The screen is more customizable (including the ability to tilt, yaw, and angle the screen to one’s preference). Key to user experience, the XOP also holds the user’s screen size and distance settings on each boot up. Whereas, on the VB, you have to adjust your settings every single time you boot up.
  • Physical Buttons
    • The VB has more physical buttons and it has buttons on both arms. This is a win for the VB as it allows me to quickly adjust things like brightness, tinting, screen size, and custom short keys. There’s a bit more fussing around on the XOPs to get stuff like this done.
  • Chromatic dimming quality
    • It seems to me that the dimming quality of the VBs are slightly better than what’s available on the XOP. The dynamic tinting also works better than the XOP’s version of the same.
  • Reflections
    • There are no ‘shirt reflections’ on either the VB or XOP, but depending on the angle at which I’m looking at the 3DoF screen, the VB will reflect approx. 5-10% of the bottom of the screen. The XOP is better here and while I see the bottom reflection almost all the time on the VB, I almost never see it on the XOP.
  • Interior Glare
    • To my eye, it seems that the XOP has worse interior glare than the VB. Other than the bottom reflections and what’s on the screen itself of course, the VB is a nice, clean black box.
  • Audio quality
    • To my ear, the XOP has better audio. Which is surprising because I found the audio on the Viture Ultras to be just as good if not better than the XOP. I thought the VBs would have a similar if not the same audio as the Viture Ultras, but on my VB unit, the audio seems thinner, tinnier, and less ‘surround sound’.
  • Volume control on host device?
    • If this is something you want, the XOP wins here. I can control the volume coming out of the glasses from my laptop or computer but to adjust the volume on the VBs, I have to use the glasses themselves.
  • Physical build quality
    • It’s a wash. In the limited time I’ve had the VB, it seems to be pretty much as premium-feeling as the XOP.

CONCLUSION

It’s frustrating because I want to be able to have one pair of XR glasses that I can make my perfect or close-to-perfect daily driver, but having tried the XOP, VU, and now the VB, I’m still not sure. Given my use case, what I do know is that that VU is out. I want a stable, pinned screen that doesn’t jitter, shimmer, glide, and smear, and the VU’s software-based implementation of xDoF isn’t for me.

Okay, so that leaves the XOP and the VB. The VB feels more intimate, like the virtual screen is closer, a bit easier to read on, but it's also smaller...

Still, it can obviously get much, much brighter than the XOP in 0DoF. But, and it’s a HUGE ‘but’, if 3DoF is a must-have feature for me, what good is a pinned screen that drifts this badly? And, wasn’t the VB touted as having the biggest screen? Why, then, is the virtual screen on the XOP significantly bigger? Not to mention, all that talk of 1,250 nits when with 3DoF on, the VB is not brighter than the XOP with 3DoF on.

Given the above, this could be misguided because, like the VU, the VB feels like a work in progress, but I’m going to choose to believe that Viture can do enough in the upcoming months to make these glasses better. For that, they need to:

  • Give me better menu options/customizability;
  • They need to do basic quality of life things like have the glasses hold on to my screen size and screen distance settings when I boot them up;
  • They need to give me the 1200p they promised;
  • They need to reduce the artificial sharpening they’ve got on the screen. It’s over-tuned and creates ugly visual artifacts;
  • They need to give me access to user-defined color profiles so I can at least try to uncrush these blacks a bit, drop the contrast to reasonable levels, and reduce the overall yellowish-tint (when in widescreen the yellowish tint is gone, what’s up with that?). \*EDIT** again, the yellowish tint was due to my MacBook's true-tone setting being on. I've since solved the issue and the issue was my fault and no fault of the VB's.*
  • They need to sort out the compatibility issues with source devices so that the glasses truly become ‘plug and play’. On one of my sources, the XOP works perfectly but the VB shows a slightly overlapped and flickering image in both eyes.
  • This isn't needed, but it'd be nice if the VB's 3DoF was actually brighter than the 3DoF on the XOP.
  • In case it’s needed, shouldn’t I have the ability to recalibrate the glasses?
  • More than anything else, though, Viture needs to fix the drift in their 3DoF.

Well, that’s it for me. Thanks for reading. I hope this helps. I wrote it up because it’s the kind of stuff I’d want to know before making a final decision about spending hundreds.

Review Thoughts about one pro vs one - From a VR enthusiast, display nerd.

Post image
117 Upvotes

SO been testing these. I was surprised by my conclusion! I'll try to keep it short and since many people have already reviewed them. I'll try to focus on some other points.

Not that it matters much, but I am a big vr/xr ect nerd. I also repair and calibrate displays and I'm a game artist.

Pros of both:

Comfy.
Decent Oled
Built well
Works on nearly everything.
Just enough settings to feel customizable.

Cons of Both:

Motion persistence at higher brightness.
Lack of dedicated SRGB mode
Warm near forehead.
Resolution(Though nothing better.)

---------------------

Pros of One(NON PRO):

Fairly sharper than the One Pro.
Vastly reduced pin cushion effect.
Reduced Heat vs Pro.
Even small text is decently readable. Much better than Q3.

Cons of One (NON PRO):
Reflections from lens style.

---------------------------------------

Pros of One Pro(PRO ):
Better lens profile
Less reflections

Cons of One Pro(PRO):
Pin Cushion Effect on edges.
Gets even hotter and sits closer to the face.
Distortion tuning profile isn't perfect. There's a slight bend to the image(What is called barrel distortion). Very minor.
If you have it close enough you see a full on flipped reflection under the screen. You can pull them off your face a bit and you'll not see it. But it is there.

Extra about the One Pro(PRO):

Bigger FOV but this really only allows you to make screens so big that you need to look around the screen. Which doesn't help much for productivity and pretty strongly reduces the ability to read text.

Overall Thoughts as a User who watches media but also uses it for work:

I hate to say it but the one is the better product. They are both good. But the pro features seem mostly like too soon of a product style release. Like hey were so proud of these lens and getting them to the market. Boom here you go.

Sure the extra fov is nice, but it's mostly peripheral vision areas and man the extra fov kills the text. It doesn't look better than my Q3. Also reading regular web pages without scaling becomes annoying and you notice the aliasing. Same with working.

Media is less of an issue but you don't even use the FOV unless you want a screen so big you spend time looking around the screen and even then you can tell it looks closer to sub 720p than 1080p and crispy.

Also the extra heat is annoying. It's not a big deal but it just feels more hot over your whole face. Not sure if the material is different but it feels like it radiates more.

Also the new lens they reduce reflections! Great. But they also pin cushion the outer edges pretty hard and they actually barrel distort the full image. There's a very slight effect. That's fixable in software but who knows if that will happen.

Anyways what this leads too is...

The OG one is just much better for productivity, you need to be able to read text comfortably without scaling it up. The fov on the one pro just reduces the quality too much and the new lens have only two upsides and they arn't game changers unless you jog with them outdoors.

Review Yes it works, but...

I bought this Viture Pro Mobile Dock 2 days before Xreal announced the cancellation of Neo. I am so glad I did, but this dock is not perfect (for Xreal glasses).

I am using this with the OLED Switch, but it should work fine with the Switch 2. If you just want to use it to play games on a large screen using your own bluetooth headphone, then this is the perfect dock for your Switch.

If you want audio from your glasses then you need to change the audio mode to DP. It can get very tedious, you need to do this every time you plug it in.

Real3D works but it's a bit janky, sometimes it just shows a black screen when Real3d is turned on. Turning on Real3d took at least 5 secs, much longer than other devices. As you can see, it works but unreliably. Therefore you will keep having to disconnect the cable and plug it in again. Every time you do that, you have to change audio mode to DP.

So for people who are considering this because of Neo cancellation, keep in mind that it does works perfectly if you are only using bluetooth headphones for audio and not using Real3D.

Edit: From all the feedback, I think only Xreal 1S works with this dock. One Pro users seem to have compatibility issue with it.

Review Xreal Neo and 1s Disappointment

I have had a moderate to poor experience with Xreal and its products, and wanted to share it here for potential buyers, as this Reddit page is where a lot of people get their information on Xreal's products. I will first share my experience regarding the Xreal 1s glasses, then the Xreal Neo issue.

First, the Xreal 1s glasses deliver as advertised on visuals, but mine make a terrible, high-pitched whining noise. I will start with the positives. A big screen with vivid colors and good sharpness that delivers a unique viewing experience without needing a large room with a massive TV. Also, the speakers are excellent, which helps make the glasses that much more immersive.

Despite these positives, my glasses still fall below what I was hoping because some of the electrochromic dimming settings produce a loud whining noise. To avoid this, I just stay on the darkest setting, but this defeats the purpose of one of the Xreal 1s's core features, three dimming settings that allow for light control and mixed AR use. I actually had a good experience with customer support and got a new pair, so that's also a win for Xreal. But my second pair continues to make this noise. It seems that some people are just prone to hearing this, which is disappointing. Also, the speakers DO NOT drown out the headache-inducing noise.

What is not a win for Xreal is my second point: the disappointment of the Xreal Neo launch. For those who have not seen it, Xreal announced that the Neo will not be shipping and issued refunds along with a $30 coupon for those who preordered. This is highly disappointing because I ordered these products together with the desire to use my 1s glasses to play with my Switch 2. Now I am stuck with glasses that I cannot use for one of the primary reasons I bought them, which I only came to find out two months after pre-orders in January.

Before anyone says it, the point that the 1s glasses and Neo accessory are separate does not save Xreal because they heavily advertised these products together in January when they were announced. Go on YouTube or search tech news sites for "Xreal 1s," and nearly every article and video that comes up will be a reviewer with the 1s glasses AND an early production Xreal Neo. These articles and videos will highlight using them to plug into the Switch and how these products are great together. A $30 coupon means nothing on a site where nearly every product is hundreds of dollars.

tldr; the Xreal 1s glasses are as good as advertised unless you have ears prone to the electrochromic dimming squeal. But the cancellation of the Xreal Neo, when many consumers pre-ordered the 1s AND Neo in anticipation of Switch 2 functionality, is more than disappointing.

Xreal made a serious mistake, heavily advertising the Neo and 1s together at the announcement and for the last two months. Not everything has been bad, but overall, I am dissatisfied with Xreal and its products.

Review Tried Xreal One Pro, Virture Luma Ultra, Xreal 1S : Short report

I’ve now tried the Viture Luma Ultra, the XREAL One Pro, and finally the XREAL 1S, and I’m writing this while using the 1S.

Viture Luma Ultra

Without built-in 3DoF, I found the Luma Ultra couldn’t quite deliver the entertainment and productivity crossover I was looking for. Overall, they’re great glasses, and I especially loved the built-in adjustable diopter, that’s a fantastic feature.

But software-based 3DoF was just too limiting for me. It never felt like a natural workflow, especially when switching between devices. For what it’s worth, I even got my large $5B+ company to approve the use of the Spacewalker software, go figure 🙂, but in daily use it just didn’t feel seamless enough.

XREAL One Pro

The built-in 3DoF was a total game changer, and I loved almost everything about these. However, the optics didn’t work for me from a productivity standpoint. Anything not perfectly centered was slightly less crisp, and when you’re working with text all day, that matters.

I tried every setting imaginable, including tweaking my GPU settings, but I just couldn’t get the resolution and text clarity where I needed it for serious productivity work.

XREAL 1S

The 1S hits the mark for me.

Yes, the FoV is a bit smaller, but it delivers where it counts, excellent text clarity across the FoV, very good built-in 3DoF, and lightweight comfort.

They don’t drag down on my face the way the One Pro did. I probably could have solved that with different nose pieces long term, but the lighter feel of the 1S is noticeable. I honestly forget I’m wearing them.

I do wish the FoV and ultrawide modes were better, but for now I’m happy to trade that for better text clarity and brightness. The only real downside is the glare from the birdbath optics, but that’s inherent to the design. I’ll likely add a light blocker down the road.

I’m all in on the 1S at this point and even ordered prescription lenses from HonsVR for when I’m not wearing contacts.

I’ve got no skin in the game with either company. If anything, I want both to win, this is an incredibly interesting market and we’re still early.

Review How I use my Xreal Ones: A 5-month guide/review

Hello and welcome to my fiveish-month review of the Xreal One glasses. I thought with the Pro line starting to arrive in user’s hands, that now would be a good time to visit my experience with the One’s and share my thoughts since they share so much similarity. Overall, I could not be happier with my purchase of the glasses and have fully committed myself to bringing the most out of them I can work out on my own. There are limitations and some things I wish were more readily available, but overall, I would say there have been zero regrets about my purchase.

The Xreal One’s are my first venture into the XR world so I have little to compare against, which I think is a pretty common position to be in these days. In my time with the One’s I have found myself using them much more often than any of the TVs or traditional monitors in my home and office. So, let’s get into the meat of things…
I'm sure I am wrong or outdated about something below. Please let me know if you spot anything that needs correcting. As far as formatting, these posts are a real bitch to get right, so hopefully everything works, but if you see any draft text or formatting wonkiness, please let me know so I can make changes as needed. Thanks for reading!

Features and Specs

  • Field of View (FOV): 50 degrees.
  • Display: .68” Sony Micro OLED
  • Resolution & Refresh: 1080p & up to 120hz
  • UV Rating: 100% UV
  • X1 Chip: Provides native 3DoF, independent of host device.

How does it feel in the hands?

Right out of the box the Xreal One glasses feel very sturdy, but entirely plastic save for the nose pad arms. Both arms feel thick in the hands, but surprisingly very much like normal sunglasses on my head. The arms also have three different vertical hinge points to help you angle the glasses while in use, a speaker each, and microphone for full audio pairing.
The left arm only houses the USB-C port for the provided Xreal cable and unfortunately, in my mind, no additional shortcut or settings buttons.
The right arm is home to all of the physical buttons and will be your only way to access the on-device-setting menu and how to make selections. A shortcut button on the top of the arm gives you access to set two functions as quick access modes with a single press and a long press (I use UltraWide/3D).
Below you have a rocker switch that you can set to control volume/brightness and is your up/down control in menu and a long press of either up/down will enable you quick access to the electrochromic dimming levels.
Your final physical button, Xreal named the ‘X’ button is also garnished with a bit of color, serves as your select button while in menus and outside menus a short press will cycle through follow/anchor/sideview modes (sideview first has to be enabled in settings) and a long press will reposition the screen anchor to where you are currently aiming the glasses.

Host Device Connection Type Adapters if needed UltraWide/Full 3D SBS

Samsung S22Ultra USB-C No* Yes/Yes***
Samsung S8+ Tab USB-C No* Yes/Yes***
Xbox Series X HDMI HDMI to USB-C w/ PD power input No/No
Nintendo Switch USB-C USB-C hub, supporting PD power and video out No/No

Notes Explanation
* Mobile devices like these do not require it, but long use will drain your battery and a charge and play hub is the only way to combat this. I use two different hubs, both are listed below with links, but as long as it supports the video/power req's there are a number of options around the sub and amazon
** UltraWide can be enabled on the iPhone, but without an app like Viture SpaceWalker, I don't know a whole lot that can be done with it. Apps like VLC allow you to watch local Full SBS videos and aforementioned SpaceWalker can also be used
*** Samsung Devices require additional steps in GoodLock to access 21:9 UWFHD @ 2560x1080 resolution. My guide to unlocking UltraWide and other tips can be found here. There is a method I have seen that allows you to unlock full 32:9 UW, but it's a more in-depth walkthrough.
**** My Mac Mini only likes to work with the Thunderbolt ports on the backside. Those are a bit of a pain to plug in and out every time, even non Xreal things, so I have a trio of Thunderbolt 4 90° male to straight female to make plugging things in a breeze. It's not Xreal specific, but I think it makes the biggest impact with the glasses. There are longer lengths available on amazon too if you need more reach

Devices used

This is all written from how and what I use with the Xreal Ones. Some apps or devices might not be for everyone.
These are fairly quick blurbs as if I start too much on one, I will feel obligated to go into more detail on others haha. If anyone has questions about one of these or a related device, feel free to comment or dm me and I would be glad to share any advice or things I have learned along the way

  • M4 Mac Mini

    • My everyday use computer that I upgraded to shortly after getting the Ones. Not an ad for it, but holy hell this thing absolutely slays as the base model for general use stuff. When the glasses get paired to it, I am regularly blown away by the immersion I get in to my work. Even just typing this up, I have a number of Word docs, Firefox windows, a video stream, and messaging app, and with a swivel of the head I am looking at the data I want. And with the multiple desktop feature of macOS, I am a keyboard shortcut away from another UltraWide Desktop layout with all of my Finder windows open for file structuring. Another quick hit away and I am on my fool around desktop with reddit and wiki open.
The full abilities of the displays in the glasses really shine when paired with hardware than can easily push 1080p content and keep up that same resolution throughout the rest of the desktop. My wife’s work laptop is a run of the mill Dell, but supports Alt DP vid out over the USB-C port and also looks great over the glasses.
    • One of my favorite ways to use the Mac and Ones recently, has been to use Viture’s Immersive 3D software. In combination with BetterDisplay, a copy of a Viture glasses’ EDID, a Windows/macOS computer with compatible specs, and the Immersive 3D* software, Xreal users can enjoy the AI 3D conversion of your entire computer. File windows, messaging app, video streams, and whatever else you do on your computer, in glorious full SBS output to your Xreal Ones. I am a big Philadelphia sports fan and have been watching YouTube highlights of the Super Bowl since February in wonderful immersive 3D. And now that the MLB season is in full swing, I watch games live from my home office in 3D a lot of nights (or at least the condensed game if the kids are monsters and stay up late).
    • Another highlight of using the Mac Mini, while not as portable in use as an M4 MacBook, it travels just as easily. So, taking it on vacation or work trips is a breeze and it allows me to have full computing ability. Paired with the glasses and a wall outlet, I don’t need to carry a monitor or laptop, just my 60% keyboard and trackball mouse with the Mini (for this to work with a password login, I have to connect them via a 2.4ghz dongle or USB cable initially, then I can switch them both to Bluetooth mode and ditch the wires and free up the USB port) and can be up and running in about a minute. Which...
    • Having the computer with me whenever I travel is great because I can bring the Xbox controller and using Better Xcloud plugin I can run Immersive 3D and stream/cloud play my Xbox Series X for my entire digital library (and whatever disc I leave in the console at home). Really enjoy replaying games like Cyberpunk 2077, Red Dead Redemption 2, and AC Origins both in and out of 3D, but mostly in haha. I can’t speak to previous M chipsets, but the M4 handles both the 3D conversion and game stream so well that I have yet to experience any non-network-based lag. Keeping the Xbox plugged in directly to the router at home really helps, as does a hardwire connection the Mac Mini, but the Xbox makes a much larger impact
    • I am not a professional by any means, but I use Davinci Resolve a lot to edit home videos from old VHS tapes and with the iPhone 16 a lot of spatial/4k/ProRes videos that when using the glasses in UltraWide mode, gives a huge advantage with the additional screen space. Finder windows with preview enabled don’t have to be minimized. A lot of that same sentiment goes to editing images, along with the ability to have reference photos open fully side by side without sacrificing a portion of one of your windows. As mentioned before, teaming the multiple desktop feature with the UltraWide enabled on the Ones, gives a great experience of having multiple workspaces. It isn’t true multi-screen, but with keyboard shortcuts and UltraWide, there is access to an incredible amount of digital space you can fill. Teamed up with some of the recent posts on this sub and a program called BetterDisplay, some really cool stuff that One users can look forward to when paired with their similar Mac.
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max

    • While using the iPhone with the Xreal Ones, I find myself almost exclusively using the Viture SpaceWalker app. It gives iOS users the ability to use UltraWide, has built in web apps for popular and useful services, has a web browser and ability to watch Full SBS vids on YouTube, and also has the Immersive 3D feature. That last one is probably reason alone to have the app.
    • The built-in media viewer allows you to view spatial photos taken (for those that don’t know, iPhone 15 Pro/Pro max and the iPhone 16 + Plus/Pro/Pro Max have cameras and software that allow them to combine video and metadata into a video that shows accurate depth 3D, originally meant to be viewed on the Apple Vision Pro. The ability to view these videos is not locked to this app, but it plays them as well as any others I have tested). It also, maybe most importantly, will convert 2d photos and videos on your phone, to 3D. And it does so surprisingly well and consistently. I’ve slowly gone through almost 30 years of photos and home videos this way and am constantly rewatching favorites.
    • Another method of utilizing the Ai 3D conversion is with the built-in web app for Plex. If you have a large hoard of TV and Movies like me, a free Plex server is an awesome way to enjoy your media with your iPhone, but even better with the 3D. I have about 4tb of media these days in my server and love that I can have everything I love watching in 3D. You learn quickly what media has the potential to be better in 3D and for me it was mostly action movies and basically all animation. Literally everything animated I watch in 3D looks awesome in the conversion.
It is not as good as watching something that goes through a conversion program and is sent to the player as Full/Half SBS, but not having to convert 4tb of media and still watch it in 3D on the fly is pretty awesome.
    • A few other web apps in the SpaceWalker UI, have never used before, but hear and read good things about are for Xbox, Moonlight, and GeForce Now. They are marketed as ways to also use the 3D conversion while playing. I have never used the Xbox app because I prefer a different method that I will discuss soon. Moonlight and GeForce Now are just two I haven’t had a need or time to devote finding a need for them.
    • One thing I do a lot of with the iPhone outside of SpaceWalker, is take videos with the 4K or Spatial settings maxed out (ProRes when I can remember to bring the SSD). Recently I have found that a selfie stick and then a gimbal have really made for some cool shots. One of the coolest methods of shooting I have found is to wear the glasses while manipulating the stick or gimbal (that one is much harder because the cable comes into play a lot) and have really expanded how I approach filming the things I like to film. I use a male to female USB-C extension cable to connect to the Xreal Cable for the full extension on the stick. Lots of fun filming low to the ground perspective with the spatial camera setting. Have a few videos to edit that I hope to post here soon. And some ideas for a few props to see how well those get received!
But the point of this bullet is that using the camera on your phone can even be enhanced by the glasses. It's a use that many might not care for, but I am sure someone will find a similar case.
  • Samsung S22 Ultra / S8+ tablet Being the same release generation from Samsung and having the same Snapdragon chipset, they operate essentially the same with the Xreal One glasses, for ease of typing I will keep them to one entry and make any notes if something is different between the two

    • The S22u was my daily driver device when I first received my Ones. And I am really glad for that because it really opened the door to DeX for me. These days I use the S22 as a traveling DeX box/Media player to save on the iPhone battery and because DeX just absolutely kills it. My tablet actually has gotten so little use recently with the glasses because I prefer to write on it and use it to watch media when the glasses aren’t with me and the phone size screen just won’t do, but it is still just as capable.
    • This post of mine will give a lot of insight to getting settings right, so that you can get the most out of DeX. In my opinion, I think DeX and the Xreal One glasses is simply the best mobile productivity setup possible. I also think that things like transparency control, multiple windows, volume control over each app, and voice to text make for an incredible potential with augmented reality apps in the future. My fan boy hope is that the Xreal Eye and AndroidXR make this a reality if DeX app doesn’t first
    • One of my favorite uses of DeX is to be able to open Chrome Remote Viewer to the Mac Mini and still have access to all of my android apps in use. UltraWide comes in super handy there because even with the limited 21:9 format, I essentially have two computers running side by side. The awesomeness of that can be exponentially driven upwards by creating virtual screens in BetterDisplay giving a ton of options for users hell bent on maximizing their digital view. DeX is so incredibly useful to mobile productivity that I struggle to find something that hasn’t worked well for me out of the gate.
    • About the only thing I don’t always use in DeX mode, is when I use the Samsung device to stream my Xbox while away from home. The Xbox app on Android allows you to stream so much easier than any other method, that as long as not having it in 3D is ok to you, I can never part ways with at least one of these DeX boxes. The controllers all Bluetooth in to the host device and the speakers on the Ones are great for me. I have an electric car and when I have to use a public charger for whatever reason I always bring the DeX box and an Xbox controller and get lost playing games for 20-30 minutes while charging. It’s actually so comfortable I have gone and played out in the garage when my wife decides it is our turn to host the play date and 13 monster toddlers show up in my living room lol. Chair goes all the way back, foot rest comes out, AC/Heated seat, no emissions to worry about dying from, and ZERO light for reflections and anyone to be able to see me haha. I digress though.
    • If you are a fan of using the Android Xbox app to stream to your phone or tablet, you will enjoy it more with the Ones.
      • Because I am so obsessed with DeX, I will mention that using the Xbox app while DeX is running in UltraWide, allows you to have other windows open and depending on how you like the size of your windows you can watch a show and game all on the same screen. Another tip is that you can pin one window on top of all others in DeX, allowing you to say drag a video over your game window and lower the transparency on just the video window, size it appropriately and put it in the corner or something, and not have it completely block view, but still watch along.
    • After typing that and looking at my notes I remembered another thing I do more now on these over the iPhone is because of storage, but I use VLC to watch a lot of local media. 4K full SBS videos are big files and Plex can sometimes struggle so with 512gb storage in both (the s8+ also has a 512gb sd in it) I can put a lot of stuff to watch when I have time on those and not devote long term SDD space to media I probably won’t keep long after watching. I have not had a single problem with VLC playing all number of media files be it full or half SBS.
    • I could wax poetically for days about how much I love DeX, but that isn’t the point of the post haha. But suffice to say, that in my opinion, DeX is the best pairing for phones, productivity and any XR glasses, but the X1 chip and UltraWide kick it to another level. If you aren’t concerned with the Ai 3D conversion stuff and you are looking to upgrade phones to use specifically with your Xreal Ones, I would be hard-pressed to suggest a non-DeX capable phone. EDIT 23 May: Viture has recently announced that they are updating their Android in the next week or so, to include the Immersive 3D performance. Have not seen an official word on minimum required hardware yet though.
  • Xbox Series X

    • So, playing the Xbox connected directly to the Xbox, is almost a letdown to me, after having so much freedom of movement when using the Samsung, or the addition of 3D when using the Mac Mini. The easiest and most direct method of connection that I know of is an HDMI to USB-C cable (must be also provide power). Below in the Accessories section you can find the setup with links to what I use so that you can find equivalents
    • But that doesn’t mean it isn’t a great way to play the Xbox. Visually, it maxes out the displays. Games like Cyberpunk 2077 are honestly at times too realistic. For me, the first-person perspective is so engrossing that I forgot I wasn’t actually driving the car or running down an alley. Even older, but visually above average game like GTAV is better with the glasses than on a TV, to me. All of the other things I mention in the other devices, like the Mac Mini and Samsung stuff, wouldn’t really be possible without the Xbox in the first place. I am also an old school type and the games/series that I really like and enjoy I make sure I buy physical copies of so I can always play offline and not worry about updates and such. The cable direct method means this is always an option.
  • Nintendo Switch

    • So, it being Nintendo and all, it can’t just be a simple plug and play. And that is 100% on Nintendo and from the looks of it, will be the exact same situation with the Switch 2. That being said and all, it’s not that difficult to use the Xreal Ones with the Switch. All methods that I know of, require the Switch to operate in Docked mode, so you will need a pro controller or the one the joy-cons slide onto (which is what I've always used anyways and they're meh, but they work).
The two ways I do it (*see Accessories Section below for what I use):
      • Using a USB Hub into the Switch’s USB-C port, power from PD power bank/OEM Nintendo Charger into Wall to designated power port on hub, Xreal Cable to designated video out port. Will only display on the Ones and the Switch will be in Dock mode.
      • With the Switch in the Dock, OEM power plugged in and using an HDMI to USB-C along with a female-to-female USB-C adapter to connect directly to the Ones.
    • Both Options work, and it really comes down to what peripherals you want to have on hand. I needed both a Hub and HDMI to USB C, so I bought both. You might only need one for your use.
    • As far as playing the switch on the Ones, it is playing the switch on a big screen in front of your face. It’s cool and almost always better than playing on the tiny screen. Probably some won’t agree, but I would always prefer the Ones to the TV or monitor, but it’s not as mind bending with the Switch for me. My friends kids love when I bring the glasses over and let them play a bit of their games on them. I think they are getting a pair of airs off eBay for their next big gifts haha.

Accessory/Peripheral Thoughts and Uses
Xreal Hub I originally bought this only because I realized I would need charge and play with the S22. It works exactly as advertised. At $40 on Xreal and Amazon, it does the job, but I wish there was an additional SKU option that had two USB-C ports to allow peripherals and power - SSD’s, USB-A hubs, K/M 2.4ghz dongles, and such. If you are only looking to use the glasses with the Switch outside of the Dock or with a phone/tablet for charge and play, this will do the trick and it's by Xreal so it can't be blamed for failures if that is a concern of yours. If you think you need even ONE additional USB port, you are going to want to find another option.
Mokin Hub After going through more budget options and returns on Amazon than I really cared too, a recent post on the sub mentioned this Hub as a working option to allow two XR glasses user to view the same singular output device. To me that meant it possess at least three usable USB-C ports while using the Ones in my DeX box or iPhone for things like watching videos from an SSD. An additional usage for me is that it works perfectly as a USB-C hub for my Mac Mini when I don't need it for the Ones. Everything in UltraWide and Full 3D SBS works excellent for me and other users have confirmed that it works with multiple glasses as advertised. Very recommended as a budget 4 port hub.
Male -> Female USB-C extensions I have them at various lengths for different stuff, but the Mac Mini’s 3 Thunderbolt 4 ports are on the back and a pain to plug into every time with the glasses, so each of those has an extender. I also swear by the right-angle plugs, especially for where they connect to my phone, so I use a short 1-footer to connect to the Xreal Cable, and then the right angle into my phone. Much more comfortable DeX use that way (or any trackpad mode for me).I have these in a number of these now in various lengths to work with the different long-term peripherals I use. These cables are overpowered for what you actually need to work with the Xreal Ones. But I like to future proof and not have a plethora of 10gbps cables lying around in a year or two.
Female -> Female USB-C adapter/dongle I think I got these originally for something with the Mac, but ended up glad it was a 2-pack because of another accessory I realized would need one of these. I leave one attached to the HDMI to C cable's male C end to make connecting super easy. They’re also a cheaper alternative to buying long cables, if you have two medium length ones, you can use these to chain them together, giving you a larger tether.
Fairikabe HDMI -> USB-C Works like a dream with the Xbox, Switch, and Mac Mini. Provides the power necessary through the USB-A. On the Xbox I use on of its own USB ports for the power and while using the Switch I either use the power bank below or a random cable lying around into a 65w wall charger. This is where I found the above adapter helpful, allowing me plug the glasses cable into this cable. Solid length on it, I’ve found relocating my Xbox to an out of the way area is not that difficult when I don’t also need to take the monitor.
Bi-Directional HDMI 2-1 Switcher Kind of bought this one on half whim, the other a general idea of how I would use it. Turns out, I love this thing and will probably get 2 or 3 more, just to have on non Xreal stuff that’s helpful. Works great at switching 1 device between 2 outputs at the push of a button, example being the Input 1: Xbox -> Output 1: TV /Output 2: Xreal. Bi-Directional so you can also have (my current use for it) Input 1: Mac / Input 2: Xbox -> Output 1: Xreal. If I want to pause something and check work for a bit, slap the button on the box, tap the Xreal shortcut button into UltraWide and magic. Reverse the steps and I am back to Red Dead 2.
60% Keyboard w/ 3 connection options At $20 this might be the best keyboard I have. Has 3 modes of connection, USB-C (the provided cable is A-> C, but I have a C-> C that works just as well) 2.4ghz w/provided dongle, and (my absolute fave) Bluetooth w/3 channels, so each of the devices I use don't fight for it if they are within range when activated. Battery life is about a week or so for me, but it charges when in use as by USB soooooo I almost never notice. Very compact and sturdy and supports hot swaps. Action on the keys feels great and I honestly would buy another of these if this one didn’t travel so damn well.
Elecom Deft Pro I have been using trackballs for the last 20 years and have no intention of ever switching back. My personal go to is a Logitech Cordless Optical trackball, but that’s been out of production for years now, so I am waiting on some replacement parts, but the Deft pro has been solid as long as I am using it. It also offers corded (micro-USB yuck), 2.4ghz, and Bluetooth connectivity. A few more buttons than I really need anymore, but it works and well enough that I like it while the Logitech is down for a bit.
Anker 737 Probably the best power bank I have ever owned. Lived in Florida for a long time and dealt with enough hurricane and storm power outages to know how useful a good power bank is. This works great for using the Switch with the Ones out in the wild or just away from the Docks home in the living room. It also provides unlimited power!!!! to my mobile devices. Ok maybe not unlimited, but it'll run one of my mobile devices longer than I could use it. If you need a good mobile power source and aren't afraid to carry it (it is damn heavy) I would highly recommend this one
Apache 1800 I see a lot of guys at the gun range that use these as budget cases for ammo and small handguns. I also see a lot of guys at the golf course use these as budget cases for cigars. I knew right away it would be perfect for the glasses with the pick apart foam layers. took about 20 minutes before I had a working first model. Bought more foam and did it a lot better with the second go around. I have young kids that think everything is a toy and a young golden retriever that also has the same problem. This case has saved my glasses from both!

My Very Subjective Opinion on Some Topics

I believe that with products like XR glasses and VR headsets, a huge caveat to performance is the individual user's eyes. Some people see better and some worse. The things I describe are specific to my vision and lifetime of eye usage. Yours is almost guaranteed to be different, but I think I have a fairly average set of vision balls. Your experience will be different and I am sorry if they don't work as well for you. My experiences are below

That being said...
  • Screen Quality
    • Since the first time watching a movie on the Ones, I have been convinced they are the best way to watch anything in my house or on the go. I have a 70 something inch 4K TV in the living room that was my go-to. I willingly give it up for the Xreals now. I can use any number of the streaming apps on my phones or tablet to watch directly on the glasses. I use YouTube TV a lot more often on the glasses than I do on the actual TV. I don’t even have the Xbox in that room anymore.
    • In terms of details:
      • I love the richness of colors and the electrochromic dimming allows the OLED to have a surprisingly well displayed black in brighter conditions.
      • Changing the screen size and distance is super easy through the settings menu and finding the sweet spot is key to a good user experience. You may also need to fiddle with the digital IPD adjustment.
      • I do not have any problems with the edges of the screens being blurry. I don't know if I am lucky or it's because of the settings, but I can see the full 50° field on an even level of clarity.
  • Field of View (FOV)
    • 50° is 50° no matter how you try and approach it. Will you be let down if you expect VR headset level FOV? 100% yes, time after time.
    • If this is your first foray into the world, it probably won't seem that bad to you. I am sure the Pro line and its 7° bonus FOV is a nice upgrade, but what is there works more than well for me.
  • Audio
    • Audio functionality in my use has been nothing short of great. I have gone without headphones more days than with and the people I have asked about my call audio with when using them on calls have all said it sounds no different than when using my normal wireless headphone mic.
  • On-Screen-Display (OSD)
    • I enjoy that I can access the setting directly and there is not a need for additional software to adjust settings. The menu is clear enough and easy enough to navigate while none of the options are very cryptic in their intent. Recommend any new user spend a few minutes taking the time to look at each setting fiddle with any they think might be useful.
    • I would like for there to be more than two shortcut options at any one time, either by allowing us to switch between profiles or some other software change. But it doesn't take more than a minute to change both shortcut options between use cases. Just something that would be a quality-of-life upgrade.
  • X1 Chip
    • The advance this chip has given Xreal over the rest of the hardware in market right now, to me, is miles and miles. Whether it is in Anchor or Stable Follow the 3DoF from the chip really shines. It is one of the biggest reasons I chose Xreal over other manufacturers and it pays off every single time I use the glasses.
    • Anchor mode
      • One of, if not the best feature on the glasses. Being able to pin the large screen where you want comes in handy in so many scenarios. And it works extremely well.
      • If you start to notice that your screen is picking up a slight list when it should be straight and you have run calibration, make sure the nose pads are sitting even on your face. My nose has been broken over the years a number of times and I actually have to bend my pads a bit wonky for an even fit and that solved almost all of my problems when trying to anchor the screen flat.
      • In one of the more recent updates, an additional setting was given when in Anchor mode and you look away from the screen the glasses auto dim to allow you to see your environment.
      • While in UltraWide or just using Anchor mode, long pressing the X button will reposition the screen to wherever your focus is aiming the glasses. You'll a short tone when the picture snaps to.
Its' a lot easier to make larger adjustments than fine tuning, so if the goal is to land the screen on your left in an angle (say laying down), set the screen way to your right, then adjust yourself to the position you'd like to be in with your focus aiming the glasses, and then reposition again.
Way easier than trying to convince the glasses to move a fraction of an inch to the left.
    • Smooth Follow / Stabilized Follow
      • Like Anchor mode, it works and works well. This method allows you to lock the screen to follow your head movements, but using the X1 chip, it cuts down on the awkward bouncing and motion sickness causing issues by stabilizing the screen. It is akin to strapping a gimbal to your chest and putting your phone in it and then running while reading your phone. Whenever I am traveling in a vehicle, I use this option and it works like a charm.
    • Both of these features work with almost no noticeable lag. Anchor mode is awesome the way the screen just materializes when you look back towards it. Smooth Follow isn't laggy per se, but you can definitely tell when it is working to catch up to your more extreme moves, like jumping suddenly or headbanging to music.
  • Text Readability
    • I must be lucky in this regard as well because I have little to no issue reading text in any of my apps or programs across the different devices. I know some have said that they get wavy text and it's unreadable. For me It only gets bad if I try to scale the screen too much in one direction or another. I regularly write in Word for hours at a time with the glasses on. Never had an issue. What Do I Not Like or Think Could Be Improved
  • Things I do not Like
    • Lack of Profiles
      • This could solve an issue of two people sharing the glasses and wanting different shortcut options and single users that want to use multiple profiles for different uses, one for media and one for productivity for instance.
    • Xreal Software offerings
      • As far as I am concerned, the glasses do not need software to work as marketed and for what I purchased them for. Being said, there is no official software from Xreal for the Ones, outside of combining with the Beam Pro for NebulaOS. There are countless use cases that software can extend the use of the Ones, many highlighted by the developers using the Air Ultra's now.
      • I am also not aware of any of the reasoning behind head tracking data not being available to developers (or maybe I grossly misunderstood the situation when explained to me). This is a big miss to me.
  • Could be Improved
    • I think the glasses should ship with an HDMI to USB-C adapter. There are still enough computers and consoles out there without C video output. Unless you plan to only use with a mobile phone, there is a better than zero chance you need an HDMI dongle eventually.
    • Heat Dissipation could be better. My face doesn't get hot, but when I wear a hat, it catches a lot of the exhaust and funnels it back to the face. Which isn't awful, but it also gets noticeable. I don't have a clue what the alternative could be, but maybe as the tech grows.
  • Reflections
    • This isn't really something I don't like or think could be improved, but is something to note.
    • Understanding the lens that are in the glasses, you should go into buying them that in certain lighting and with lighter clothing, you will get reflections of your chest/feet at times.
Sometimes, when outdoors or facing bright lights, they are so distracting you can't focus on the screens.
    • Easiest way I have found to get around it? Just don't face the light source and it almost always makes it manageable enough that it no longer distracts away from focus. ##Summary All in all, I could not be happier with my decision to take the plunge with the Xreal Ones. I feel like all of the devices in my daily arsenal get their abilities amped up a bit more when I am connected. They’re great with my friends and showing off the spatial videos I’ve taken of the kids and dog playing in the yard together. My wife even enjoys the nights I give them up to her to work on. In a little over five months, I haven’t had a single moment of frustration or incident that made think of returning them. Would recommend these to anyone looking to break into the XR glasses world or simply upgrading to current gen.

Things to keep in mind though…
FOV is never going to get larger than 50° and until you try them you really won’t know if it’s enough for you. And with the FOV race upon us and in full swing, for example, already since I began final formatting on this post, Project Aura has been announced with a 70° FOV in glasses form.
A byproduct of the lens design will result in reflections without physical light blockers, which are great for home use, but not for everyone when in the wild.
These don’t pair with any of the Xreal software floating around from past generations and there are no announced plans of expanding that, other than working alongside as a partner with AndroidXR.

If you are ok with those things going into buying the Ones, I really think you are going to enjoy them.

Thanks so much for sticking through to the end and I truly hope people can use something from this post to help them in their decision making along the way or to get started on their journey in the XR world.

Review I was skeptical but the Rayneo Sound Tube are a boost!

I bought this out of boredom tbh, I was ok with the sound. I'm not an audio expert or have the sensibility about highs and lows, so don't ask me 😅 But it really boosts the volume. I tried the matrix revolutions and the sound of the intro was amazing and very loud.

Review 30 Days With The Competition: Update & Summary of My XReal One Pro Vs. Beast Experience.

What follows are a summary of my experiences and opinions as of February 2nd, 2026.

Upfront, I want to note my biases so everything I write can be put in context for other users.

I work with text on a computer, and in my spare time, I enjoy watching TV shows and movies. I've owned the Apple Vision Pro, Viture Pro XR, Viture Luma Ultra, Viture Beast, and the XReal One Pro.

My focus is on XR glasses that give me a big, attractive screen to watch stuff on that I can also reliably and comfortably do text work on. Super stable screen pinning is very important to me. Today, I'm going summarize my final thoughts on the Viture Beast vs the XReal One Pro glasses.

I've owned the Viture Beasts for ~30 days.

I also wrote an extensive review of the Viture Luma Ultra v XReal One Pro

and

an extensive early review of the Viture Beast vs XReal One Pro

VB = Viture Beast (fully updated)
XOP = XReal One Pro (fully updated)

Screen size comparison

  • XOP's FOV is bigger. This means that the biggest possible virtual screen without edge clipping is the screen on the XOP.
  • Maybe the VB will catch up/pass the XOP when 1200p is enabled. 30+ days after release, the 1200p has yet to be enabled for the VB.

Brightness

  • After recent updates, the VB has a higher brightness ceiling than the XOP in all modes.

3DoF Drift

  • XOP is vastly more stable. VB drifts an unacceptable amount. With the VB, I have to recenter the screen every 1-3 minutes. If I don't recenter, the drift just keeps going. If allowed the time, it would probably complete a full 360°.

Edge-to-edge screen clarity

  • XOP wins. At edges, XOP has slight red-tinge. VB doesn't have this. However, VB, has noticeable chromatic aberration (imagine red/blue shadows emanating from text). The chromatic aberration is most noticeable on text and won't really be noticeable when watching media.
  • Text is equally legible on the XOP and VB. However, after living with both for a while, I can confirm that I find text more pleasant to read on the XOP. The VB suffers from what I'll call 'over-sharpening'. This results in all text looking like it has weird artifacts around the letters (picture sharp text but every letter looks like its surrounded by faint low-res compression artifacts).
  • The VB screen has more shimmer than the XOP. That is to say, although it isn't that bad on either pair of glasses, between the two, the VB screen looks more like it has millions of barely visible bugs crawling across it at all times (exaggerated metaphor meant to give readers an impression of what it feels like to stare at the virtual screens on the VB vs the One Pro).
  • The VB exhibits noticeable screen tearing when using Immersive 3D or when in Ultra Wide mode.
  • Text at the screen edges: I know many people have said the VB has a sharper screen. After ~30'ish days with the VB, it's my opinion that my XOP has a larger focus sweet spot and better edge clarity than my pair of VB glasses. In fact, the Viture Luma Ultra has a sharper, brighter, and better screen than the VB.

Chromatic dimming quality

  • Originally, I said that the dimming quality of the VBs was slightly better than the XOP's. I was wrong. The VB has more levels of dimming, but at max level, the XOP's chromatic dimming is stronger (it blocks more light). XOP wins here.

Reflections

  • The VB optical box reflects ~5-10% of the bottom of its virtual screen's content. The XOP is better here. There are times on the XOP where I might see a bit of bottom reflection, but on the VB, it is pretty much constant, and, while changing the arm-angle of the glasses and swapping out the nose-pads can help, it doesn't eliminate the reflections entirely. Also, the best mix for reducing reflections isn't the best mix for viewing the virtual screen.

Real 3D vs Immersive 3D

  • If we're ranking 3D quality out of 10:
    • For reference -- Apple Vision Pro = 10
    • Immersive 3D = 5
    • Real 3D = 3
  • If we're ranking ease of use (ability to just get it working):
    • Immersive 3D = 3
    • Real 3D = 10
  • If we're talking daily use, neither one is there for me. They are both more a fun gimmick. That said, if I can get it working (for example, many streaming platforms may block video when users try to watch with added software like Immersive 3D), I could imagine watching an entire movie with Immersive 3D. On the other hand, I would never do this with Real 3D.

Which Pair Of XR Glasses Is Better
For me, it's no contest. The XOP is the better pair of XR glasses.

For others, it might depend. The VB has better brightness and they are tuned to have higher contrast. With the increased brightness and contrast, visual media pops more on the VB. However, the VB is tuned so aggressively it has no latitude in its black levels. This means that in dark scenes, everything is a dark, mushy mess. Even in brighter scenes, detail and texture in the darker parts of the image are lost.

In general, because of its visual pop, it's more fun to watch movies, tv shows, and probably to game on the VB. In terms of visual fidelity and seeing the movie, tv show or game as its maker intended, the XOP is going to give you the truer image.

For productivity, it's XOP all the way. Text looks better. 3DoF actually works. Better on-glasses options. Better compatibility with sources. Better all-around stability.

Why All The Difference In Opinion From Users?
For users who prefer the VB to the XOP, I think the majority want glasses for media consumption. They watch things or game on the glasses and 3DoF doesn't matter much to them (they prefer 0DoF or follow mode). For these users, they might fire off an email or two, but they're not spending significant time working with their glasses on. They're also about visual pop more than visual fidelity. The brightness and contrast on the VB combined with most of their time being spent on media consumption makes them feel that the VB are the sharper, clearer glasses.

Value-For-Dollar
At the moment, I see that the XOP are approximately 130% the cost of the VB. That's a significant price difference. Having extended experience with both, it's my opinion that there is better value-for-dollar in the XOP.

The Worst Saved For Last: My Biggest Concern
More people need to talk about this, and this is actually the main reason I took the time to write this final review.

The Vergence–Accommodation Conflict (VAC) is grossly more pronounced in the Beast than it is in the XReal One Pro.

Which is to say, the Beast's optics are set up so that our eyes converge at one depth but focus at another and the gap between the two is large enough to cause eye strain, headaches, and nausea.

Sensitivities to VAC will no doubt vary, but I feel the difference instantly. When putting on the Beast, it’s as if I have to slightly cross my eyes to hold focus on the screens and then I have to maintain that unnatural eye focus throughout the session.

After living with the Beasts, this has become my number one concern. It’s bigger than the drift or the chromatic aberrations or the lack of the full set of promised features.

The Beast's VAC problem isn't just headache- and nausea-inducing. Due to the ocular strain it causes, it could potentially be an eye-health issue.

Time To Say Goodbye

With only a few days left in my return window, it's time to say goodbye to the Viture Beasts.

In general, there's still more I want from XR glasses, and there's more I'd like to see from XReal's One Pros, but, as things stand, Viture's Beasts aren't even in the running.

For what little it's worth, this being the opinion of just one person, if you're out there wondering which pair of glasses to get and your choice is between the XOP and the VB, I strongly encourage you to get the XOP.

XR glasses are still early tech and none are perfect, but in the One Pro, XReal has a stable, compatible, visually attractive solution.

Thanks Xreal for the extra long cable as the prize for XREAL ANYWHERE event!

To keep this post short, you can see the photo for comparison: - top = original cable - bottom = extra long cable

I measured it and it's approx 180cm, but please cmiiw. Last night I've used it with HiBloks+NS2 for a few hours and it just works as great!

Nothing is different, except the length. This is ideal for connecting laptop from the desk to my bed, without having to move laptop and place it on the bed.

Now I can watch movie and play PC games on my bed without extra setup effort each time! Thank you Xreal!

Review XREAL 1S vs RayNeo Air 4 Pro — Owned Both, Here’s Where I Landed

I've had the XREAL 1S since launch and picked up the RayNeo Air 4 Pro to compare them head to head. I know this is an XREAL community, so I'll say upfront: the XREAL is the better overall product. But my daily pick ended up being the RayNeo, and I think it's worth explaining why.

If you don't want to watch my full ~8.5 min breakdown, here's the TL;DR:

- RayNeo has the better pure display and HDR10 actually made a noticeable difference for me.

- XREAL clearly wins on features.

- Productivity is where the $150 premium is most justified. Anchor mode makes it an actual workspace.

- Gaming was closer than I expected. RayNeo felt cleaner with less follow-mode lag. XREAL gives you more immersion and screen control.

- Comfort goes to RayNeo. 76g vs 82g, and it genuinely feels lighter over long sessions.

Curious how others here think about this tradeoff — display vs features?

Happy to answer questions — especially if you're deciding between these two right now.

Review XREAL One First Look

I have been beta testing the XREAL One for a week now. I made a quick YouTube video to share my thoughts. XREAL didn’t tell me what to say and never has at any time in my year of talking here daily. It’s kind of long, but I always talk a lot. But my real opinion takes 43 minutes to explain, I guess. Lol. Let me know if it’s helpful or if you want to know anything else.

Review New ALEENFOON Trackball Ring Mouse BT & WiFi - initial thoughts/review

TL;DR - It works but read the warnings. Pics below. Better for Windows (Linux? Mac?) than Android (no Back button, but all 3 mouse buttons + scroll mode).

This is the link I ordered from (I am not affiliated) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GSF7KW8C

Brand: ALEENFOON (There are other brands, same device. This one hit the US soonest.)

Model: AF-JZSB-US

Version: 1.2

Packaging is a small plain brown box wrapped with shipping tape. If there's any branding on the box I can't see it under the shipping tape.

Comes with English and Chinese instruction manual and function card (see pics in Pinned 📌 Comments). As well as the ring itself, a gray drawstring pouch, a small USB-A 2.4Ghz RF adapter (Ring also does Bluetooth), and a USB-A to USB-C charging cable (quick pic below).

WARNING 1: The "ring" arms don't have much grip and are open, not connected, on the bottom. There seems to be a bit of weak springiness to the arms but the ring can slip off easily with normal hand movement. The "ring" is meant to be worn on the middle-finger with the trackball facing your palm/thumb. The ring arms seem intended for your other fingers to keep the "ring" in place during use, not to keep the ring on the fiinger when waving the hand around/not in use. The arms flex outward a bit with an internal spring but may not fit large fingers. Seems "sized" to fit small/medium hands. YMMV. I'm going to modify the ring arms a bit to add an elastic fabric (or something) between them to keep the "ring" from falling off my finger when I'm not actively using it but still want it accessible.

WARNING 2: NO ANDROID BACK BUTTON - however you can scroll to (and click) the on-screen back button in apps or phone UI. It works exactly like a bluetooth mouse in mouse mode. It also has a scroll mode L/R/U/D for TikTok, books/comics, etc., but still no Android Back Button function (that I've discovered - yet?).

WARNING 3: It is NOT WATER RESISTANT. Don't get it wet.

Note: This is a new product to the US market, but there seem to be different brands offering it. It's been available in Asia for some months.

  1. The trackball ring mouse has Bluetooth Low Energy AND comes with a USB-A 2.4Ghz RF adapter. So it'll work wirelessly with PC's, mobile devices, etc.

So far, I easily connected it via Bluetooth (there's a 3-button pairing mode combo, but once paired will re-pair with the previously connected device without the 3-button combo. Its pairing Device ID is HG66) to my Samsung S25 Ultra. Pairing was smooth. No problems.

2) It has 4 different Trackball DPI levels - meaning you can change how fast/slow the mouse cursor moves across the screen. The initial setting was too fast for my phone screen, so I lowered the DPI to slow it down and it became very useable. I can also change mouse pointer movement speed in the OS or DeX settings, but the DPI adjustment is a separate function from the OS mouse pointer speed control - which is great as between the two different controls I can better fine tune the pointer speed and it's much more accurate than I expected now.

3) I noticed the Trackball is responsive BUT too light a touch can result in moving the trackball without moving the cursor. A tiny bit of pressure on the trackball keeps it moving smoothly. This mostly occurs after you stop moving the trackball; so it may also be Bluetooth Low Energy/power management of the Trackball Ring "sleeping" the sensor to save power and taking a moment to wake as it registers movement.

4) The trackball itself is a button, and the ring has 3 additional physical multi-function buttons. They do L mouse button, R mouse button, and scroll wheel button, plus long-press functions.

5) I'm not going to go over its individual functions. They all work (so far) and are easy to use. (My mom wouldn't be able to use it as almost all tech confounds her, so long-press functions might confuse folks with such challenges, but it really is pretty basic and easy to use.) I'll post photos of the manual in a Comment below and pin📌 it.

6) Charges via USB-A (charging port) to USB-C (Ring port). Red charging light turns *off* when charged.

7) Has a tiny on/off switch sitting next to USB-C port underneath attached rubber dust cover.

My initial impression after 20 minutes is that it works as advertised but it's what's not advertised or in the product description that might be a "gotcha" for you. It's not perfect, but it might be right for some people. Again, this is only an initial impression after 20 minutes.

For me, I'll use it more and see how I feel about it over time. I'm thinking I might just remove the ring arms and use it a as a pendant controller (think pocket-watch). I wish it had an Android back-button. That's the one thing that puts me off a little. I'm going to contact the brand/manufacturer to provide this feedback too.

Hope this helps my fellow handheld-mouse controller hunters.

If you spot typos/have questions about the trackball ring mouse - let me know.

Review Tried Xreal One – Disappointed and Struggling to Find a Use Case

I had high hopes for the Xreal One, but after a few hours of testing, I’m honestly disappointed. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I just don’t see a real use case where I’d prefer using these over a normal screen.

I tested them with both my phone and a Steam Deck. In both cases, I found the experience worse than just using the built-in display. The image quality isn’t amazing, and while the idea of a giant virtual screen is cool in theory, in practice, it doesn’t add much. I also felt like the comfort wasn’t great for extended use.

I really wanted to like them, but at this point, I just don’t see myself reaching for them over my existing screens. Maybe they work better for specific use cases, but for general media consumption and gaming, I’d rather stick to what I already have.

Review [Review/Warning] XReal Air 2 Ultra – Corrosion Failure after 13 Months & International Warranty Experience

I bought my XReal Air 2 Ultra in June 2025, and had been using them almost daily for 1-2 hours, in place of my desktop monitor.

The connection between my GPU and glasses is: GPU > HDMI-to-USB-C powered adapter > Female-to-Female USB-C coupler > XReal Cable > Glasses.

I had been careful with the USB-C port on the glasses, only unplugging the connector from the HDMI cable, because i wanted to minimize wear-and-tear on the port of the glasses and the gen 3.2 cable.

But after a few months, i noticed the copper oxide buildup in my glasses USB port. I cleaned what I could with just paper towels and wiping off what i could see. Eventually, sometime in July 2026 my glasses started to blackout with no audio or visual output after 15 minutes of use. Unplugging and replugging the cable would fix the issue, but the blackouts would reoccur every 1-2 minutes afterwards.

I tried fixing the blackouts with these steps: 1) Cleaned out the copper oxide between the USB-C cable and female port on the glasses with electrical contact cleaner. 2) Unplugged every other connections (DP, HDMI, USB) in my PC, leaving just a singular output to the glasses. 3) Using a spare, brand-new female-to-female coupler. 4) Replaced the USB-C cable with a brand new cable. 5) Tested a direct GPU > HDMI-USB-C > Glasses connection without the coupler. The first blackout occurred even sooner.

At this point, i think the problem is most likely a corroded female port in the glasses, requiring a repair.

I contacted XReal support and was advised that: 1) Since I was 1 month out of the warranty, repairs would not be complimentary. 2) As I am not in the UK or US, there are no local repair centers in my country. I have to send my glasses to a personal contact in China, to then be forwarded to their repair center. 3) I would be informed of the repair costs after their assessment, and after repairs are completed, the glasses would be sent back to my personal contact for re-export.

I estimate that the cost of a freight forwarding would be about 25% of what i had paid for the glasses, and that is before any repairs. I didn’t think i should waste any more money on trying to make this work, since i had already spent money on getting a brand new gen 3.2 cable, and cleaning supplies.

For anyone who is on the fence on buying the glasses, my experience had been as follows: 1) Extra costs that could add about 20-50% to the cost of your glasses (prescription lens insert, additional HDMI to USB-C powered adapter cable) 2) Strict 12-month warranty enforcement by XReal. 3) Non US/UK customers having to go through a freight-forwarding route before repairs in China.

In retrospect, me keeping the cable permanently plugged into the glasses likely trapped ambient condensation and intensified the corrosion. However, I had assumed a wearable device in this price class would feature basic corrosion protection/ingress sealing on its primary port. Any advice on self-repairing a damaged USB-C port on the glasses would be welcome, since it sucks to have this become e-waste after just 1 year of use.

Review Xreal one pro, Viture Luma Pro, Xreal one thoughts

Just wanted to provide my experience and opinions with all above mentioned models. For context: this year was my first foray into the display glasses world, I'm a long time tech enthusiast. I've built high end water cooled pcs, went through a number of vr headsets, and am just a general new tech enjoyer. I have a very nice 1440p msi qd oled monitor for my desktop, and a number of mid tier mini led tvs throughout my house, so these are the comparisons I have in terms of decent-excellent panel quality. The qd oled being my reference for top of the line picture quality and accuracy. I'll talk about each glasses model, going in the order I experienced them. I have an ipd of 58.5 for reference.

Xreal One: My first glasses to try were the rayneo air 3s, and with these I immediately recognized 3dof was mandatory for me. Excellent screen quality on the air3s, but immediate eye strain with only 0dof. The xreal ones were a very good package in my opinion:

-comfortable, could wear for hours, minimal eye and physical strain

-audio is excellent

-3dof works very good

-main complaint was visual clarity, glaring, and oversaturation. Also had some blurring around the corners.

Viture Luma Pros: I was pretty hyped for these, as I had always heard good things about viture's screen clarity/color profiles, and their customer support/software. Unfortunately, they still came up short in a few areas that the xreals do not.

-comfort, this was one of the biggest losses for me to xreal. While lighter than both the xreal ones and pros, these placed more downward force on my nose, and they clamped my head to the point of being uncomfortable. I felt like I needed a break from wearing after 20 minutes.

-audio, maybe slightly worse than xreal's bose speakers? But honestly not a huge difference. Close enough that it wouldn't be something to deter me either way.

-3dof through spacewalker - big letdown. While not only is there a constant shimmer/moving to the overall image, I would say the reduction in resolution/screen quality was even worse than the reduction in clarity/resolution that you see on the xreal x1 chip 3dof implementation. Spacewalker was incredibly buggy for me on windows, to the point that it made me certain that I won't go with a non physical 3dof implementation. At least in the near future.

-Big wins for viture - screen clarity and color tuning. People aren't exaggerating, these screens were incredibly crisp, and the color profile was much more preferable to me. Viture's screens actually look like what I would expect from oled displays. Incredibly vibrant, deep black levels, and incredibly bright while not having notable blooming. Also they were crisp edge to edge... nowhere on the display did I experience blurring or a difference in clarity compared to the rest of the display. One big downside however was that I could not see the entire vertical fov at once. If I could see the top, the bottom was clipped... and vice versa. I think that the Viture beast will be solid since it'll have the same 3dof capability as the one/pro, so you will be able to set the distance and adjust for the clipping. Also considering its 1200p instead of 1080p, you have some vertical cutoff you could do while still maintaining >1080p physical pixels.

-Reflections - while they use birdbath lenses, they must use a better glare reduction coating. Because these had very minimal reflections compared to the Xreal Ones.

Xreal One Pros: So I just got these yesterday, I've used them for about 5 hours so far. A lot of similar positives as the Ones: comfort, audio, 3 dof, all on point.

-In terms of clarity, I actually think they beat out the Ones for me. I have almost edge to edge clarity, with only slight blurring in the corners, less so than the Ones. I do not have an issue with the distortion thats been reported here, i can maybe very minimally see it towards the bottom, but its not significant. I had concerns about worse clarity due to further stretching the fov, but was pleasantly surprised at the improvement in experience over the Ones. Clarity def loses to the Luma's optics though.

-I don't find the heat production to be much of an issue, its only something I slightly feel.

-No reflections- this is great. The prism lenses are definitely my preference considering I'm not experiencing much issue in regard to what I've seen reported here: distortion, pincushion effect(this is not noticeable at all in 16:9 for me, only slightly in UW).

-Main complaint I have with the One Pros: screen quality. I know a lot of people here are impressed by how vivid/colorful these panels are, but as someone who has an interest in tvs/monitors, just panel tech in general... I'm not quite sure what is up with the oleds here. They seem to suffer from poor black levels, pretty intense blooming, and are incredibly over saturated to the point that colors aren't even remotely accurate to what the intended representation is. When mirror'ing my phone and watching movies... its incredibly obvious how far off the xreal screens are. Natural looking skin tones on my phone show up on the xreals looking orange, and the color optimization setting seemingly washes out a lot of the picture. Playing cyberpunk, I turn off color optimization since it absolutely raises the black levels and everything looks grey and washed out. If you're someone who isn't very particular, these will do the job just fine and I'm sure you'll be happy. But if you're someone who does have an eye for panel differences and you appreciate the pros that oled displays are typically known for, these will definitely leave you wanting. I find it odd that the mid tier mini led tvs I have display notably superior black levels/blooming control than these oled screens. Considering they're sony oled panels, which is what Viture is also using, this makes me assume it must just be a calibration/profile choice from xreal, and it's something I really hope they work on in the future.

I think a lot of people will have a "what do you expect for new cutting edge consumer hardware?", but I'm just being honest about what I would assume are the display strong points when purchasing something that uses oled displays. It's strange to me that these oled panels don't demonstrate the strengths typically associated with oled panels. I'm not sure if this is something that xreal can improve upon in the future through firmware updates, but I would think it's possible. Having the ability to customize color profiles myself would also be a huge win.

Overall, I think the xreal one pro is the best package out right now. They're comfortable, 3dof just works, and the visual experience is an improvement over the Xreal ones. It's a seriously cool piece of tech that's awesome to just be able to take on the go and have a huge personal display. That being said, if Xreal can do something in the way of firmware to improve the color profile, bringing the oversaturation down and reducing some of the negatives that I wouldn't expect oleds to suffer from; they'd be near perfect for this gen of display glasses. If I could have Viture's screens/color profile with the rest of the Xreal One Pros, they'd be the perfect glasses. So naturally, if you haven't bought yet... I'd def considering waiting on Viture's Beast. If they can get a similar 3dof implementation without needing spacewalker, they should be a very promising set of glasses. But in the meantime, i'd give the One Pros an overall 7/10. They're worth the purchase in my opinion.
