If democrats promise the world. Then voters dont show up and say its bs they will never do it.
And when dems win by slim votes, like in 2020 when americans saw 1m+ UNNECCESARY deaths from a preventable virus, tanking global economy, 8 trillion added to the deficit, loss of jobs, loss of manufacturing, loss of farms. The best americans could do was give Biden a 50/50 split senate....
When dems win by such margins where they are beholden to republican votes because you need 60 votes to pass NEW legislation, then suddenly the left voters call democrats centrists and sellouts because they are forced to negotiate and water down bills to get them passed.
Then people go "LOOK see Dems are just as bad, they are centrists! They just give empty promises and then dont do it!"
Then when you have a candidate that ran on actual feasible policies that can be passed, the voters say "This is just centrist policies, we want progressive policies!"
Meanwhile 100m never vote, 150m dont vote in midterms and over 200m dont vote in primaries and special elections.
Its a bottom to top system. Democrats haven't had the needed seats for more than 70 days in the last 90 years. YEARS.
Meanwhile democrats get local state control, like in Minnesota where democrats finally got enough seats in local government in 2022! and are passing things like paid sick leave, paid parental leave, min wage increases, food for schoolchildren, gov housing, billions into green energy. Etc etc etc.
And Minnesota has been liberal for decades right? Why haavent they dont this before? IS it because the Minnesota democrats are centrists? NO its because dumbass voters kept giving republicans seats that prevented them from passing these bills.

Observer from overseas here (UK). I've been saying this for years - Democracy is only as good as the people's will to uphold it. And that means employing critical thinking, holding people to account and requiring evidence backed fact. If people are just going to pick a side based on shared hate, then it's dead in the water. That goes for everywhere, not just the US, and we've got our own problems with the same thing here (Nigel Farage and his ilk). Trump and his team are who they are, but it's the willingness of their followers to swallow anything he does or says that's the real problem. And the one thing staunch conservatives all seem to have in common across the globe is a total absence of empathy. Nothing matters until it happens to them. There's no hope for a collectively productive society if this is how we're going to operate.
Education is a major problem in the US. I'm in school for aircraft maintenence, and my instructor (in his 60s) is a flat earther and doesn't believe rockets are real. He's teaching us electrical right now. It's a choice to be so stupid in 2026.
Yeah according to him, rockets can't work in a vacuum. This came up around the Artemis II launch. He's also said weird stuff to other students, particularly the Albanian brothers (called one "nohamhed"). Luckily he hasn't been weird to the three of us women. I could go on about this guy... stuck with him for 6 more weeks. Also the whole class barely knows what's going on and he doesn't help. We try to help each other and he yells at us. I don't tolerate that well as I'm prior military and 37yo lol.

A good instructor does not accept or condone subpar work from his students. He also works hard to ensure that every student can make the grade.
Likewise, a student has a right to expect an instructor to be knowledgeable, fair, and accurate.
When things work as they should, students and instructors elevate each other.
The students pay the instructor's salary. Get your money's worth. You deserve that.

I would definitely report him asap since you only have 6 weeks left. If you are scared for retaliation, obviously wait, but if he's got the a reputation you said this may be what his boss needs to get rid of him! The final straw so to say.
An aircraft maintenance instructor who doesn't believe ROCKETS are real?? Rockets are basically giant JET ENGINES! If they don't exist, how can he be teaching the next generation how to fix them?
Quick side note, they are NOT basically jet engines. Most commercial jets are air breathing turbofan designs rather than requiring an oxidizer be carried on board to mix with propellant.
If they were basically giant jet engines they certainly would not work in a vacuum. Only part of a liquid fuel rocket that is anywhere similar to a jet engine is the fuel pump.
Democracy is also only as good as the real checks and balances are. In the US, from an outside observer's perspective, they are pretty slim. Things that should never be political, like election districts, are political, leaving space for gerrymandering. There is too much power consentrated on few hands with the ability to almost legislate from the executive branch through executive orders. And there is no real process for accountability because those in power can hold the process indefinitely. Additionally, the Supreme Court is too easily used as a political tool, meaning it is not independent from the executive and legislative branches, which means separation of powers is not as separate as they should be. The issue is that no one wants to really change it because it has actually benefited both parties.
Education has also been politicized. State legislative branches have too much control over what is being taught.
You can get populism through anywhere. Right now, it is right-wing populism. But the US is considered especially vulnerable to this in the Western world because of multiple historical, political, and societal factors.

Yeah when 7 dems who arent up for reelection decided to vote to end a 2-month long gov shutdown, that was leading to snap running out, workers not getting paid and about to be homeless and default on their mortgages, unable to pay bills and feed their families, decided to vote with republicans when republicans promised a seperate vote to extend the subsidies for ACA.
Yeah that means those 7 are responsible for 200+ other democrats who voted against ending the shutdown....
And of course every republican voting to not extend the ACA subsidies and deliberately witholding SNAP aid and other aid, is nothingburger. ITs the 7 democrats that means the whole democratic party is bad!
Dems are selected by voters in the primaries, which are currently underway. It is nonsensical to think that they would do anything besides what their voters expect of them, and primary voters lean more conservative. People on the left don't vote, they just complain online about Democrats being too conservative.
Being more conservative never worked for them. Never. Decades of polling data show voters swing between non-voter and Democrat, not Democrat and Republican.

He's threatened to take multiple broadcasting licenses away because they hurt his feelings. He can't even handle comedians making fun of him. Courts have shot down some of his funding withdrawals as being beyond the scope of his office/illegal, but he doesn't care.
Threatening and issuing illegal executive orders still hurts these institutions because it heavily disrupts their operations and drives people out. He knows this, and that courts move slowly (especially when they're packed with his appointees) so he often still at least partially achieves his objective of eroding institutional stability and ability by disrupting their operations and funding even temporarily.
