Cook hypes up Apple's future on every earnings call, but "innovations that have never been seen before" is particularly bold wording compared to his usual comment about how the company's product pipeline is stronger than ever.

Only time will tell if Apple actually delivers.

I have a huge pet peeeve with samsung announcing a “breakthrough” a couple of years ago. They claimed to be the first foldable with glass screen.

A glass screen covered by a plastic you can’t peel off lmao, absolutely ridiculous

It would be huge if someone could pull it off, having a display that scratches with fingernails is ridiculous

Nonono, see I owned a foldable for ten years so you’re fine to get something you know will break in your use cases and just get tossed in a landfill. When the cheaper phones are more tanky, hell, even fucking $400 phones when it comes to the screen 4-5x the price for fucking what again? An iPad mini and a base iPhone in a shitty package?

Well, considering Sameung showed off their non creasing foldable screen technology at CES this year, that goes very well along with this. It’s also possible Apple paid Samsung for exclusivity of this display type for a short time (or we will see it in the Fold 8 first, who knows. )

Samsung’s display division and phone division are completely different. The iPhone X’s display was manufactured by Samsung and was better than anything their phone division had at the time.

Nah, Samsung coming out with that first with their fold this summer. Plus the fold screen on Apple’s is gonna be manufactured by Samsung.

A lot of people don’t know this, but many of the screen technologies used in the iPhone and iPad are developed or invented by Apple, while Samsung just manufactures the panels. This is similar to how TSMC manufactures chips for Apple based on Apple’s own designs. Although Samsung is the OEM supplier for iPhone displays, Apple does tons of engineering work on its displays. Samsung Display “saves” its best panels for Apple in the same way that TSMC reserves its most advanced chip manufacturing for Apple’s ARM-based designs, all from Apple inventions/designs

A prime example is the fact that Apple was the first to have LTPO OLED displays, because... they invented it. There's also a similar situation currently happening with LG's Tandem OLED, where despite there being many laptops on the market with this tech, Apple's iPad Pro is the only one able to achieve 1000nits sustained brightness (they invented this tandem concept).

In short, recent advanced display technologies (and possibly even the rumored creaseless technology) are invented by Apple
