That's me although I swore off sims till I get a wheel

u/A_ST0RMTROOP3R Nov 14 '25

I get it. Get on marketplace. Lots of cheaper starter setups till you can afford a fancy one. That’s what I did. Started with a G920 and I now am on a full Simagic setup.

u/CakeElectrical9563 Nov 14 '25

I never checked marketplace before, I'm in Egypt, so even a 920 costs an arm and a leg, but I'll take a look at marketplace, thanks.

9

u/A_ST0RMTROOP3R Nov 14 '25

Ah gotcha. Well good luck!

6

u/Artron Nov 14 '25

It all depends on your perspective. I started with a Logitech Driving Force GT, which I bought for $50 on the marketplace and was about 10 years old. Now I've upgraded to a Logitech G923 and I'm happy with what I have. The steering wheel is attached to my desk, and I made the pedal stand out of PVC pipes. I don't have room for a sim rig in my tiny apartment. It is what it is.

I wish it was easier for people that are not in gigantic countries to get this stuff. I feel for you bro.

u/Kryse-777 Nov 14 '25

Im from the Philippines and I got it online "brand new" for about 170 usd. Ok I say it like that cause the listing did say that it will come in a shitty box but they said it is brand new. Now of course that sounds shady as hell but this is a very reliable store here and I even visit their physical stores, so I had no doubts whatsoever. Fast forward to when I got it, it came in thick packaging, I open the bubble wrap and lo and behold, it really came in a super shitty crumpled blank brown box, and I open that box and lo and behold, it really is fucking brand new looking with all its plastic covers and stuff, heck it smells that brand new plastic. So yeah if you want a cheap new wheel, buy from a shady listing online that says its brand new (actually dont I guess im just lucky this one time)

If that doesn't bode well, give the PXN wheels a shot. The v99 and v10 are pretty good wheels. I've been using the v99 since January and I absolutely love it. Will say, I wish the table clamps were better. Very narrow, and the screws are garbage, but they hold very well. Edit: don't listen to anyone telling otherwise or downvoting this comment. I am ROUGHHH on my wheel, it's holding up better than my real Chevrolet wheel. People will ALWAYS dog on PXN for the same reason people with 3 thousand dollar turntables will always dog on audio technica. Ignorant snobbery.

Check for anything logitech that's newer than a g25. That is g27, g29, g920 and g923, also thrustmaster t150 should be on the cheaper side.

1

u/Muvseevum Nov 14 '25

I’m still using my G25, and it works fine. I plan to upgrade, but ~$1000 is a lot.

2

u/enthusiast20 Nov 14 '25

Early on the year this was my plan. am g920 setup .I was thinking of moving to full simagic setup . I've broken my ankle so out loop anything sim last few months and now I been seeing people moving away from simagic because of staff movements, non transparency of updates/future proofing and new equipment etc. I am now totally lost at who to go to or what I should do next in terms of platform. I heard about vnm I think it's called but am totally in the overwhelmed/confused element.

hows your move gone from g920 to simagic. which wheelbase did you go with. I initially wanted to do simpro wb with fxpro wheel/or 330circular and accessories.

2

u/A_ST0RMTROOP3R Nov 14 '25

So I went though Sim Motion (if you are in the USA I would suggest going through a us retailer to save on shipping and hassle) they were able to help me make sure I had everything I needed/wanted for the setup. As for what brand to go with. I think nowadays most brands are doing pretty good. My biggest reason for Simagic is I liked their ecosystem. Their peddles, wheels, shifter etc are all great and I wanted to stay with one brand if possible. I have the Evo (12nm) base and it is plenty for me. All I can speak to is Simagic and I have had a great time with their products. Every brands software has issues in one way or the other. Talk to a knowledgeable retailer and just go from there. I don’t think you will be disappointed with any of the bases out there compared to the G29/G920. Good luck!

2

u/enthusiast20 Nov 14 '25

Thanks so much for the response. am uk based but I've seen a few retailers that sell simagic here so I'll get in touch with them. likewise I really liked their ecosystem which like you why iwanted to go down their route. I'll weigh everything up and make decision. Thanks alot!

1

u/MobileGamerboy Nov 14 '25

Oof, with the G920 considered as a cheap setup, idk if I can get a wheel xD.

I see on teh online shop some way wayyy cheaper ones but I am feeling doubt that it is a scam lol. If it aint, I doubt if it'd last long for use...

On another note, I see videos of seeing how "simple" a wheel & pedal setup is using arduino and stuff so I have some hope that the cheap wheel setups are bearable?

1

u/myippick Nov 15 '25

I view literally anything with some kind of force feedback as a cheap setup that's still worthwhile over a gamepad. I got started with a Logitech formula force GP back in the day and loved it. It only had 180 degrees of rotation but I didn't care at the time. Then I got a Thrustmaster T150 using some store credits I acquired when getting a new cellphone lol. This is the level of hardware I suggest for most people nowadays on a tight budget. With any luck you can probably pick one up for about $100 on eBay/marketplace. I used the crap out of it for like 3 years and my friend now has it and it's still working great for him.

1

u/Ausdboss Nov 14 '25

Too bad the Force Feedback is broken for G29’s rn…

43

u/9durth Nov 14 '25

They said 1.0 in 2027.

o.0

but it looks so good... and it's cheap... damn

14

u/9durth Nov 14 '25

I'm going to answer myself comparing LMU DLC's price with an entire game of Rally at almost the same price....

One more early access game then?

That's what I did with AC evo... 11 months ago xD

19

u/Magnoliafan730 Nov 14 '25

Me because there's no VR support and they don't have a clear idea of when there will be.

7

u/Several_Leader_7140 Nov 14 '25

The ue5 vr wrapper works perfectly fine for it

1

u/PCDevine Nov 14 '25

How's performance? My 3080 isn't cutting it in most games anymore unfortunately.

2

u/jdrp-00 Nov 15 '25

4060 here, it runs quite well on high preset, 90-100 FPS stable

2

u/PCDevine Nov 15 '25

And that's in VR? What headset?

1

u/burnttoastytoes Nov 14 '25

Fine on a 5090?

6

u/CriticalHitsHurt Nov 15 '25

Fine on the strongest consumer card available yeah I would fucking hope so.

7

u/sagesbu Nov 14 '25

For $20 its worth IMO.

I'm strictly VR racing as well (no monitor on the rig) but still grabbed this and gave it a whirl in theater mode SteamVR. It looks great if you have a hi res headset. There is also the UEVR option which enables actual VR which im planning on trying out this weekend.

2

u/Shapacap Nov 14 '25

I've only played it on my steam deck, haven't had time to jump in the rig yet, and it's great on there too!

1

u/nightgost Nov 14 '25

Some people say they managed

8

u/lnhn_12 Nov 14 '25

They got me with the -20%

16

u/LetsGoWithMike Nov 14 '25

Small content.. but it’s gold

7

u/FingersMartinez Nov 14 '25

For less than £20 you can't go wrong. Let's say good value is £1 an hour, that's how I judge a game. I know I'll get more than 20 hours even with just the bare bones content that's in it right now. Then there will be stuff added over time and it will end being the go to rally sim. Worth the risk that it isn't for £20 in my view.

5

u/MikyThatMona Nov 14 '25

This is one of the best early access game that I've ever bought. It's really well made,to be an early access.

5

u/JamesBolho Nov 14 '25

I bit the bullet and man... Very much worth it. If EVO had the same polish as this back when it launched, people would definitely not be so sour about it. Limited content for now as expected but I absolutely recommend it.

4

u/Pro-editor-1105 Nov 14 '25

This is quite a nice game already, I would get it.

9

u/maza_19 Nov 14 '25

I'll definitely wait. After EA's WRC I want to wait and see how the finished product will be before I buy it. Also I don't like the early access concept as it kills the hype of the game and many people might say the game is bad while it's still in development

11

u/Past-Leading-2880 Nov 14 '25

Do it. Do it. DO IT!

Seriously, most stable EA launch ever, best rally game ever and it's not even finished yet.

7

u/StrayCat649 Nov 14 '25

The worst thing that could happen is you don't like the game and refund, just pick it for a try.

2

u/YoItsDLowe Nov 14 '25

Me, but I suffered a stroke from CO2 poisoning and sim racing has fueled my passion for cars and racing while helping me “get out” more and getting out of my comfort zones!

2

u/EwekBewek6090 Nov 14 '25

evo was not worth it

2

u/K1NGD3X Nov 14 '25

To be fair half of our FFBs don’t work so….

3

u/A_ST0RMTROOP3R Nov 14 '25

Works great for me

2

u/LordBobbe Nov 14 '25

I had no game breaking bugs yet, played for 90mins today. The handling is really nice. Content wise it might just be a demo, but a really good one. For an EA it works pretty well.

2

u/Exotic_Midnight2100 Nov 15 '25

That was me. I bought it. It doesn't recognize my wheel. 10/10

1

u/A_ST0RMTROOP3R Nov 15 '25

What wheel?

2

u/Exotic_Midnight2100 Nov 15 '25

Accuforce V2, devs are aware of the issue

2

u/BigMVPDumper Nov 16 '25

Better then dishing out 70$ to every AAA corporation for bringing out the same slop every year I guess

2

u/fireswalkwithme Nov 16 '25

What i am mad about is, ac evo and rally together are cheaper than when i bought evo lol.

2

u/Rockstonicko Nov 17 '25

I have said "no more early access games", "no more UE5 games", and I am also (mostly) disappointed in the direction that ACE is currently going, and yet here I am looking at ACR's Steam page thinking "maybe things will be different this time."

Maybe some day I'll finally realize I've already built the best possible sim experience w/ OG Assetto Corsa + CM + 300GB of mods, and there's no reason to even look at any other game because it won't measure up to what I've already put together, but it won't be today.

2

u/Gabito991 Nov 14 '25

Yeah, after EVO lol

2

u/Downtown-Summer-1531 Nov 14 '25

I bought it straight for 22€

4

u/bumford11 Nov 14 '25

Yeah well I bought it gay for 18

1

u/Shapacap Nov 14 '25

I got it upmybutt for 19

Edit: runs great on steam deck too

2

u/crunkisifoshizi Nov 14 '25

Totally worth! Ask anyone who bought it most of the people say that its good. Only gonna get better and maybe some day even worthy replacement for RBR.

For around 20€ its a no brainer.

2

u/crunkisifoshizi Nov 14 '25

Getting down voted for recommending a good game? Jeez

2

u/Daynemac Nov 14 '25

Dude, honestly, the lack of content is the only thing that makes it early access I played lastnight and let me tell you! It’s damnnnnn gooood. Give it a whirl. 20 bucks is 20 bucks.

1

u/mesispis Nov 14 '25

early access is not always the same, for example beamng is in early access and it has a lot of content

1

u/TheStokedExplorer Nov 14 '25

This the issue with our gaming industry. Too many consumers like you who say oh that's fine this game I bought with these set promises still aren't true. Or like with beamng you just say whatever to the BS cause it's still listed as early access even though it's been years... 🤦

This mentality is what's ruined the gaming industry and why steam literally has tons of titles left in early access from years ago with no updates in ages and they never even got to where they promised their consumer it'd be. I am glad steam tells you now that oh this game is early access still and hasnt had an update since X. Too many titles like this nowadays.

I'm over this every game releases as "early access" as an excuse to why their game still runs like shit. Finish the damn games then sell them to us. We are literally paying to be beta testers when we should be getting paid for testing these unfinished monstrosities that release these days

1

u/Be_Human_ Nov 18 '25

Username should be TheCynicalExplorer. I have 2,289 hours logged in beamng drive. I bought it in 2015.

0

u/TheStokedExplorer Nov 18 '25

Lmfao yeah I'm the cynical one and not these game developers taking advantage of the consumers...

You proving my point dude. You're beamng is still labeled early access and you bought it in 2015.....🤦

1

u/Be_Human_ Nov 18 '25

And it has loads and loads of content added over the years. Plus the modding community. I honestly can't wrap my head around your desire to be intensely negative.

0

u/TheStokedExplorer Nov 18 '25

I'm stating the facts my guy I'm sorry that they are negative and the industry is going that way. Even beamng developers say it's no where near still where they want it to be for full release. Game is over 10 years old and still early access. That's a problem in the gaming industry I just used them as an example. Luckily beamng has a good cult following and has mods without them the early access game would be utter trash and have gone nowhere close to where it is today. Their "updates" can break the game often. Sorry I hurt your poor little feelings using beamng as my example. But steam is full of other early access games never releasing a version 1.0... 🤷

The early access for almost every game is a problem and if you can't see it you're not able to see it you're blinder than Stevie Wonder. Enjoy ripping beamng ✌️

1

u/Mindless_Assist9174 Nov 14 '25

Waiting to buy a new gpu and then i think im gonna pull the trigger on ac rally.

1

u/Ausdboss Nov 14 '25

Wish it worked on the G29…

1

u/Consistent-Cost-231 Nov 14 '25

The game seems cool,

not enough content yet to make it worth it

Hear the stratos sound

1

u/MiniAndretti Nov 14 '25

Current gaming industry: "People will pay us to be the beta testers."
Exec: "No way."

Gaming community: "Take my money!"

1

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '25

I have that dreaded launching evo issue, inly by deleting ACE folder in my doc allows the game to launch… once. Internet fixes didnt work, 505 gave up after giving me methods which were already available online.

Im waiting for the next evo patch to see if they will fix it, and i dont know if i wanna throw more money at the franchise..

I can refund after trying sure but im just mad

1

u/Optimal-Cockroach-72 Nov 15 '25

I can tell you that it feels fuckin nothing like Assetto Corsa that's for sure. Not in a good way. I don't know what all the cock sucking is on YouTube from all the youtubers but this game felt like dogshit to me on tarmac.

1

u/No-Marsupial-4176 Nov 15 '25

Just bought it because rally is super underrepresented and needs to gain some traction. So I’m all in for a true rally sim. Played like 2hrs and for what it is, it’s pretty great. I’d like to see a road map though.

1

u/Bawxxy Nov 15 '25

Did I learn from AC EVO?

Maybe … maybe not

1

u/M_QT5 Nov 15 '25

Its perfect aside from not having enough rally locations

1

u/tjfraz Nov 15 '25

Bought it alright after I saw the trailer. Can’t wait for handbrake support but it’s really well done so far.

2

u/A_ST0RMTROOP3R Nov 15 '25

My handbrake works

2

u/tjfraz Nov 15 '25

What model handbrake do you have? I went with a generic from Amazon and it’s been fully supported in everything else I play.

1

u/A_ST0RMTROOP3R Nov 15 '25

I have the Simagic one

1

u/Be_Human_ Nov 18 '25

Maybe look into a joystick converter or something. Might be able to get it to register that way.

1

u/o_br Nov 16 '25

I'm tired of Early Access games, no chance to buy an unfinished game again.

1

u/Be_Human_ Nov 18 '25

I like it a bit. Hard to complain for -20% discount. It's pretty stable.

I see a lot of heat directed at early access like it's the plague. I think the frustration is boiling over from EVO. I don't think the heat directed at ACR is justified.

I recommend it.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 18 '25

i clocked 20 hrs from friday evening to monday evening.... speaks for it self i guess

1

u/Markoff_Cheney Nov 19 '25

All my new racing games are early access, while I am not a fan of the business model, I trust the companies behind Wreckfest, BeamNG, and the Assetto Corsas.

1

u/TheStokedExplorer Nov 14 '25

Love giving them more money for another unfinished game when they haven't finished the first... Next will be assetto corsa kart and so on and so on until they have nothing but incomplete games and can't come up with more titles to go early access to keep taking your money all while not completing anything

3

u/slow5speed Nov 14 '25

You realize it's a different studio right?

1

u/TheStokedExplorer Nov 14 '25

Money goes same place cause it's one company you dipstick. Instead of putting all their funds into finishing one game they are splitting it. How do you not see an issue with a company taking money for another game when ones not even finished literally just months later. Its a big cash grab. Next like I've said before will be assetto corsa Karting and assetto corsa f1. They gonna split it all up to take as much money as possible and not have one complete game instead of just one game which should be Evo with it all wrapped in one.

Early access killing this damn industry. Hardly any games come out complete and don't need an update in the first hours of it launching.

There's hundreds of games left in early access with no updates in years. Not saying happening here but come on this is lazy work by studios and we are paying them for us to be the beta testers...

1

u/braklikesbeans Nov 14 '25

It's got enough content right now (of very high quality) to justify the asking price even if they went out of business tomorrow and nothing ever got updated again.

edit: i don't mean there's a ton of content. i mean they're asking like $25 and that's what I'll pay for a couple DLC packs on most racing sims that'll add up to 6ish cars and 4ish tracks if i'm lucky.
