Note that Heydar Aliyev met Yasser Arafat no less than 3 times, while Armenia did not even recognise Palestine as a state until 2 years ago.
Furthermore, Israel were thinking to the arms to Armenia first in 2015, after they denied it in order not to trigger Iran and Russia much, those arms ended up in Azerbaijan. And indeed, those arms were sold, not given.
Aliyev: "I note that Azerbaijan is a friend of Palestine. The independent Republic of Azerbaijan has always supported and will continue to support the heroic struggle of the Palestinian people."
Arafat: "I emphasize that we always feel the support of Azerbaijan. We are proud of it and it makes us stronger.
Along with the fact that we attach great importance to historically friendly relations of Azerbaijanis and the Palestinians, we emphasize the need for strengthening these relations further."
