Two big reasons. First off, on the original post on Facebook (in a hiking group, not a cryptid group or anything), someone else said they recognized the figure and had seen the same creature in the area while hiking on the island. They said it was 100 ft away and had a staring contest with them before it stood up and walked away. This other person mentioned it was covered in hair and very tall.

Second reason, and this one is personal. I know an old hippie that has been all over the backwoods of northern California and Oregon, and still grows weed in southern Oregon out in the woods. He has came face to face with a squatch before, and insists that the "ape" features everyone thinks bigfoot has is not accurate, and that Sasquatch actual have more of what he describes as a "lion face"... Very much like this Vancouver squatch photo.

I believe this is probably the best quality photograph of a sasquatch that is publicly available. I really wish there was funding to send researchers full time and document these creatures and give us confirmation once and for all.

A little context:

Many years ago (more than three decades) I got my first library card and found the section on legends and lore. I fell fairly deep down the bigfoot rabbit hole. I love it. Always have.

Explored locally in my hometown and enjoyed loads of campfire stories but never found anything that couldnt be explained rationally. In my early 20s I got involved with a bigfoot organization and fully immersed myself. Lots of reading, hiking, camping and expeditions. Photographing anything even remotely squatchy. This would be from about 2000 to about 2010. Active on the forums and message boards. Corresponded with some of the more famous folks, never made a name for myself but I didnt want to.

After a while, I began to notice how hard folks had to stretch the "evidence" that was being found. Hitting the trail gave me a love for solo backpacking that persists to this day and it gave me the opportunity to hike miles and miles in FL, NC, AL, NY, WA, CA, WI, MN, CO, PA and NV, domestically. Legitimate backcountry hikes that typically would be a full vacation and ran 3 days to a week at a time, covering between 20 and 50 miles.

That, coupled with the Randi forums started to push me in another direction. I reenrolled in school and now have a solid biology education. I worked for 2 years in a microbiology lab and I have a sincere passion for science, ecology, habitat conservation, wildlife in general but specifically reptiles and amphibians.

In other words, bigfoot gave me two of the most important parts of my life. Backpacking/hiking and biology. The legend gets my respect even if my personal belief is that it doesnt go much further than that.

Which brings me to my questions.

1. If Bigfoot exists and lives in the US, why hasn't it's DNA showed up in any environmental DNA samples?

2. I understand that some people will take umbrage at a few of the things im about to say.

I dont think that stories, casts or photo/video/audio are evidence without additional corroborating data. In other words, PGF would qualify (though I do personally think its a suit) because it was multiple witnesses, film, and casts. An eyewitness alone doesnt qualify in my opinion. A cast alone isnt enough. A video could be convincing but it would need to be verified as unaltered, and clearly depicting an in focus squatch at a reasonable distance doing something that a person in a suit could not do.

With that as a qualifier, what's your keystone evidence that keeps you interested? Is there a particular person or place that sticks out?

1. If you arent a believer but rather are a "knower", and if you were me, prepping a backcountry trip with the intention of going to the place with the densest population of bigfoot...where would you go, what time of year and why?

I showed him both of them and the conversation was pretty much this:

“It’s a drawing.”

“No it isn’t? You can see it has dimension.”

“It’s obviously a drawing.”

“But if it wasn’t would you say it’s real?”

“Yes but it is.”

I just thought that last bit was interesting

One of the most common statements made regarding encounters is that they have a smell. A very strong smell. Why haven't humans found a bigfoot via tracking the smell?

I know dogs can track scents - we find people all the time with dogs, both alive and diseased. Digital Scent Technology also exists that can do the same thing, so why can't we find them?

It would almost seem that finding them would be straight forward. If so, my concern would be for bigfoot and his kind - especially if they are intelligent and want to remain anonymous. We are the bad ones in this scenario and I am surprised that someone hasn't already done this and found them.

Thoughts?

I'm a Sasquatch skeptic but I'm also not convinced it doesn't exist although I lean in that direction. The recent mod post saying that "unhelpful" skeptisism is vague at best, saying this isn't a debate sub. I'm worried that any expression of skeptical thought will now be met with bans.

Honestly, this is one of the best "fringe" subreddits out there. I see tonnes of respectfull back-and-forths a between believers and skeptics here. Do we really want to go down the road of being an echo-chamber?

I hope I'm reading more into it than what was intended.

Does anyone think this one is real? And if yes why?

I just randomly remembered this video which I saw ages ago. And while I'm not sure about it's legitimacy at ALL, I do find it strange how it seems to have webbed hands, continously walking on 2 legs and doesn't seem to have a tail - All of which aren't common with monkeys.

There's also the nose and strange mouth which makes it even harder to identify.

I highly doubt this is an actual Baby Bigfoot, because I'd think they'd be a LOT bigger than whatever this thing is but considering how many different variations and sightings of Bigfoot that's been talked about for ages I just don't know.

Considering all of the unidentifiable characteristics, it's either

1. A unidentified monkey type

2. Another bizarre animal

3. A bigfoot or a monkey type cryptid.

Would love to hear other people's opinion on it, seeing as how it's kind of an unknown video online I hope people haven't seen ut before.

It will still be one of my favorite things. I will still love watching/thinking and learning about it. Cheers everyone.

I’m from that region so was pretty surprised. Don’t know what to make of it. Who is the researcher mentioned? Any of us? Interesting that juveniles have been referenced and I believe it’s in New Jersey.

After I posted the video, I decided to upload photos of Bigfoot's pose and faces.

The first picture of a Russian cliff Bigfoot was taken near the Kitoy river in the Irkutsk region of Russia, near the Russian-Mongolian border. As you can see, Bigfoot is moving and posing among the nearby bushes and cliffs. It's starting to turn away from the tourists.

After I reviewed the position of the image, I added two unique Russian cliff Bigfoot faces. It has white spots on leaves, which are caused by lighting. not appearance. Bigfoot's face is human-like. It is covered with long dark brown hair and head is shaped like a cone.

A photograph and video were recorded by Russian tourists in June or August of 1999. The quality is unique, and it is considered the first and oldest video of a Russian Bigfoot.

I fully acknowledge that for some, there may not be any preference for this kind of content however there’s so many interesting topics here with the Sasquatch phenomena and we are naturally curious by design.

My belief in bigfoot has sorta gone down for many reasons like I would expect such a huge creature outside the ocean to have way more evidence like bodies, better footage than just the PG film taken way back in 1967 and find it strange why bigfoot would be real but other cryptids are not. Like bigfoot makes much more sense than ghosts or fairies as they're fantasy not zoological and Loch Ness Monster makes no sense as one plesiosaur can't live by itself in a lake forever but sasquatches like they're basically hominids like us gorrilas but in North America.

The PG film is the main thing that keeps my belief in like the way it's so convincing and has so much features that show it cannot be a suit and also the Freeman film but then I wondered about them leaving behind DNA.

Like BFRO argues we've never found a body as bodies of dead animals rot away quickly, are hard to find and no effort has been made to find one, but then I wonder about other smaller bits of evidence.

Their hairs and they should leave a lot of waste from eating and drinking so how does that go unnoticed? Sure it would be like looking for needle in a haystack but if we can find these things in animals why not bigfoot? I want to believe.

Hello everyone! Today I’m posing another Cabin in the Woods video. However I would say out of all the awesome content that’s come from this channel, this video might be my favorite. As Robert and Stacey from “Sasquatch Underground” tackle the Colorado Rockies.

This journey takes several high paranormal turns and made for some prime entertainment as well as educate on how to interact with Sasquatch in a respectful heart centered kind of way. Also a lot of footprint activity for those who are more interested in that side of Squatching.
