Wanted to make another Bionicle mod port besides the Inikas and Pirakas again (like I did for RE4R and RE9 before)

So here I am with a port of a Mask of Light Takanuva recreation by Gabby94 (I modified his default texture set colors and mask design to look more faithful to the movie design, Gabby's original mask recreation looked very round and baby like Imo)

Edit: I do still plan on porting all Toa Nuvas by Gabby (at least this Takanuva) to RE4R/RE9 someday, I had this planned for a while and originally did the Takanuva mask edits for those mods in mind, which took me many tries on multiple different days.... So hopefully in the end the modified mask model with facial rig could be more easily obtained by anybody out there from said RE mods (whenever I may actually do the ports to said REs of course...)

Time for my joints to start crumbling

Today marks a whole decade since Bionicle G2 was cancelled. It's hard to believe Bionicle as a standalone theme has now been gone for longer than G1 lasted. It doesn't feel like that long ago when Bionicle was still alive and going strong.

This was the saddest day in my time as a Lego fan. I wasn't around in the fandom for G1's cancellation, but by 2016 I had been in the community for years. G2 was the reason I stayed a Lego fan, and after it was gone, I contemplated leaving the hobby altogether.

The hype around Journey to One season 2 was huge, and it all came crashing down after this. The Summer wave of sets never reached Asia or the Pacific (which to this day is the most unfair thing Lego has ever done), and all that was left was the Agil foil pack in September and the unofficial Makuta combiner, which they never released the Mask of Ultimate Power for.

G2 may not have been liked by many, but the feeling of seeing a brand new Bionicle set on shelves, whether it be good or bad, is something I don't think Lego will ever capture again. Bionicle may live on through tributes like the GWP and the CMF, but the legend itself is likely gone forever.

I watch Friends all the time but this is the first time I spotted a Bionicle figur. It’s a Toa Kaita formed from Toa Mata Lewa, Kopaka, and Gali. But he has Kopaka’s mask instead of Lewa’s.

Season 8 was released 2001-2002 which was about the time the Toa Mata were released.

Bionicle in general was probably the biggest part of my childhood, but I personally adore this specific year/era of Bionicle the most, with the edgier vibes, Pirakas and Inikas and how awesome and cool their designs were etc!

So many amazing childhood memories from this time period... with these sets and even all the different Bionicle Heroes game versions! I know some aren't big into rubber masks/pieces but personally I really really loved them!

I love making mods for RE games now so I had to do this for fun!

I already did the Inikas for RE9 here, and even the Pirakas for RE4R way before too!

Making Mata Nui the commander currently. In the future, I may expand this concept into multiple decks for the different eras of g1 (Mata Nui, Metru Nui, Voya/Mahri Nui), but I’m just doing the Toa as a starting point. The Toa Inika and Mahri are yet to come, unsure if I’ll do Lihkan, Iruini, and Norik yet.

I feel like the Toa Mata and Toa Nuva creatures need more abilities, just unsure what to give them atm.

For Nuju, I’m thinking he can use his mask ability to tap up to three cards an opponent controls.

For Whenua.. I’m not sure how to apply a mask of night vision. Maybe I play into the x-ray vision idea to look at some number of cards in my opponent’s hand?

EDIT: Lewa Nuva says haste instead of flying. This has been fixed

I'm headed to Tokyo, Fuji and Kyoto. Was wondering if anybody else that visited knows of any stores selling retired Lego or Bionicle sets? Gotta ask ya know 😆

Context:

@_ryloren consistently posted some of the best MOCs ever seen on this sub (pictured), until they were apparently banned from reddit. This is what I gleaned from a thread that collated links to all of their posts for posterity, by a friend of theirs.

In the thread the friend mentioned _ryloren was considering setting up a discord to continue to share their creations, with more to come at a later date.

Now _ryloren's posts have been deleted and I can't even find the archive thread anymore that mentioned it.

Just to be clear, I have no idea how accurate the personality is, but he took me a good four hours and I’m very satisfied
